Gravatar It hasn't been solved per se, Andy, but it has kindly disappeared.
I know it doesn't help, Suzanna, but I know exactly how you felt.

Gravatar I am currently on the phone with our cable company's helpdesk right now... and Lord help me... how I wish I were kidding. The hate, the seething rage... After waiting for 3 hours each on two perfectly good Saturdays for their appointmently-challenged asses to show up and all they can say is, "I'm sorry ma'am, we'll just have to reschedule."

HULK SMASH!!!!!!!!

My blood pressure is currently heart-attack over aneurism.

Gravatar So what was the problem ? and has it been solved ?
Ok, I've been a 2nd lvl helpdesk techy guy.
But I do agree with you, the 1st liners are normally, well are, sometimes very much related to Damian, I mean, My boss at the time was called Damian! Need I say more?

Gravatar Oh come on, Fence, you're just being fussy, now. Pink marabou, that's an awesome costume.
Exactly, Jason, except I suspect they can't solve the problem so they just evade it altogether.
Surely you wouldn't deserve that, Terri. Would you? Would you? ;)
The Law of Turnover has helped nothing so far, Hoss...

Gravatar Keep at 'em. Maybe you'll get help under the Law of Turnover.

Gravatar Today I am really glad I am no longer a Techie :-)

Gravatar I just dealt with the Microsoft technicians. I was actually rather impressed with their organization, responsiveness, etc. The only problem--way too slow in the step by step approach. I wanted to fly ahead. Eventually, I lied to them and said it was fixed so that I could get rid of them and do the rest myself.

Sounds like you're dealing with the dummy version also. Example. Them: Turn the power on. Remove the cable and reattach it to make sure it's connected. You: yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm not a flippin' idiot, let's get to the PROBLEM.

Gravatar Why not use your super-powers (and rage) to exterminate all helpdesk people across the globe.

Although, that would be helping yourself, so you may just turn into a super-villian.
But they get better costumes.

Gravatar Oh I think Damien was having fun too, kyknoord...
I am indignant, machine. Let the little helpdeskless people come to me.
See, Alan, I'd normally say that violence is not an option, but in this case, I'll hold them down for you.

Gravatar Ah the joys of the "no help" desk. They require a telephone intervention themselves. Right where the sun doesn't shine.

Gravatar (the masses stand and cheer for the most rousing oration of the year. Someone at the back shouts a name, others pick up the cry, and before long, the gathered thousands are chanting the same word over and over.....anne...Anne......ANNE!!!!!!!!!!)

Gravatar What makes it worse is Damien was simply fulfilling his destiny. The people you've been dealing with do it for fun and profit.
