This is called desperation Flash..
Kennedys campaign is floundering, when that happens, the only thing republicans know how to do, is distort and attack.
Be prepared after the DFL endorsement the noise will get louder.

"Cuts tied directly to a the GOP pillaging of the budget to provide for their tax cuts.."
No one forced Minneapolis to cut it's public safety budget Flash. The city fathers, mothers and whatevers decided to maintain their goofball social boondoggles at the expense of a few lives; that's the fact and you know it.
It's a matter of priorities. St. Paul danced to the same tune and made different decisions ie: increasing the budgets for both the police and fire departments.
Don't make me go out and get a bunch of funding information that will embaress you! (laughing)

I wrote something similar a few weeks ago over at DFLSenate. Some of the local bloggers and the Kennedy campaign make it very clear that they are not serious about reducing crime when they decide to play this stupid game instead of working to provide real solutions for the people of Minneapolis.

Swiftee:
""No one forced Minneapolis to cut it's public safety budget Flash.""
Nope, but the Fed Govt did strip a big chunk of the COPS funds and with the significant reduction in LGA by the state there wasn't much give left in the MPLS budget.
"Is Kennedy on the Minneapolis City council too? Dang, he's a busy guy!"
Using the logic of the Right side of the Blogosphere, Kennedy's seat would be right next to Amy's.

I didn't place the blame on Amy.
I said that the city council and the mayor decided to spend less on public safety to maintain their pet projects.
The COPS program was intended as seed money, not a continual funding source.
how is it that St. Paul managed to buy more cops AND firemen while dealing with the same LGA cuts?
Priorities Flash, they're called priorities.
As to your assertion that "there wasn't much left", well I beg to differ and will spend a blog post to prove it.

Swiftee,
KvM, Rambix, Mitch, and the rest are the ones trying to tie all that is bad in Mpls to Amy. I was just pointing out that decisions made by others, specifically those on the other side of the aisle, are at least as responsible.

And I dispute that contention wholly.
Heres a few uncomfortable facts:
http://www.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/.../
Sec06_AB06.pdf
Total General Fund - City
2003 Actual:253,136,884
2004 Actual:266,731,798
2005 Adopted: 285,793,134
2006 Adopted: 318,472,838
Percent change: +11.4%
Only in Loony Left Land does an 11% increase of a quarter Billion dollar budget over three years constitute hard times.
MUST I break down where all those hundreds of millions of dollars were frittered away?

Ya know Flash..there comes a point when a centerist (such as yourself) has got to ask himself if those Sunday dinners at GiGi's house(as tasty and lovingly prepared as I'm sure they are) are worth the damage to your rationality!
I agree with you that Amy Klobuchar (although I am sure she can't identify the problem herself since she surely doesn't see a damn thing wrong with the colossal waste), is not the main culprit...but only because she is not in a position to join in just yet.

Crime stats are an easy target to politicize, left and right. Prosecutors should be judged on convictions and plea deals, cops on response time and aprehensions, Mayors on funding choices, the legislature on punitive consequences and judges following sentencing guidelines. let's not forget who's to blame for crime.... The criminals. and the scum that pedal hard drugs like the meth scurge that has had a ripple effect on the crime stats.
