This is much more then a private matter.
I don't care what two consenting adults do privately, but
as New Yorks AG he prosecuted prostitution cases.
Prostitution is illegal.
If these charges are true of course he needs step down, he committed a crime.
Then there is the stupidity factor,
everyone should be on notice that Big Brother is watching and listening to every thing you do.
But then we all know which part of the anatomy men think with don't we?

I think the state needs to have their nose rubbed in it for awhile.

He'll step down, as soon as he negotiates his plea bargain.
His self-righteous zealotry is legendary even for a politician; we all should have seen this coming, given his often outspoken "disgust" of prostitution rings combined with his career trajectory, which has been built on destroying other people's careers and livelihoods, whether they deserved it or not. He's done some good things (particularly early in his career), but he's a slimeball and a reminder of the worst elements associated with Old School Democratic Machine Politics. If he steps down, I say good riddance.
All that should matter now is for him to reconcile with his family, a wife and (groan) three daughters. If he doesn't step down and soon, he can hardly claim to have made his best effort.

I would also like to point out, beware of those who scream the loudest from their pulpits about the sins of others.
Those that are so righteous, are usually trying to hide something.
