sviggum only had token opposition. look at Pawlenty's totals (just under what Draz pulled) and Bush's in '04 (just above what Draz pulled).
Draz performed on par with the Republican average in the district.
That still doesn't justify the claim of 'growing moomentum' though, does it!?

Mark Kennedy, Jeff Johnson and Pat Anderson lost this district back in the good old days when Republican poll numbers were much higher.
If you want to say that Pfeilsticker, after receiving more than 3000 votes, six days after the bridge collapse, against a candidate with considerable negatives, was the victim of a republican index, more power to you.
If you believe however, that the first special election victory for Republicans since 2003 in the toxic environment may signal something else, I would like to remind all DFLers that its probably nothing and that your political wave is continuing.
Draz outpolled Murphy in that half of the district in 2006. That Draz won is no great shakes.
