Money does facilitate exchange but the standard rates of value are so mercurial that money has to a large extent lost it's functionality as setting or maintaining standards of value. The money itself is no longer used. Just the idea of it.

We should be clear that we're not in a war. War is a state of belligerence between sovereign nations. America's affecting a police action in Iraq and Afghanistan. Its purpose is to remove incompetent and potentially uncooperative or unreliable heads of state who've acted as proxies for the oil industry. Therefore, it can be argued the ongoing occupation of both countries is more about geopolitics ('order') than economics ('resources').
