Glad you're back! Now I should play catch-up with news I've been trying to ignore, eh?

Juan Cole is brilliant in his demolition (and damn, it's good to have you back, Bill) of George Will and crackpot think tankers.
I also enjoyed Kevin Drum's take on Lakoff and have come up with some frames of my own for the Valueite wing of the Democrats.
• Fewer bats, bigger belfries.
• Millionaires that care, for you.
• Willing to pander if that's what it takes.

Thanks, both of you.
Cyndy, I can surely empathize with your attempts to ignore the news. I've been quite guilty of that in recent months, what with my repeated blog-free spells. I can see why so many people find ignorance to be a better option than choosing to be vigilant about the state of the world. At the least, it's important to be able to step away from all the crap going on every once in a while. Just make sure you come back.
Harry - those are great 'framing' devices. Send 'em to Lakoff, or, at worst, get 'em plastered on some bumper stickers. They'd look good on Volvos, VW Bugs, and every other yuppie car out on the road.

It's easy to see why some people have chosen to opt-out of reality. It's not too pleasant... It's much better to just focus on the return of Jesus, which should be happening any day now, right?

Good to see you back, Bill! And like you, I try to ignore the news on occasions but cannot really do that for long stretches of time. In other words: I don't think ignorance is bliss.
Keep blogging - please!
