I've always favoured the Battle Royale method;
30 kids on an island.
each gets a random weapon.
Last one alive wins!

Me Again!
Here's another one to not get me started on! My sons school have - since he's been there over the last 5 years - had "sports day" like NOTHING I've ever seen...
-No winners/losers: It's too upsetting to have kids singled out as better than the others...
-No egg+spoon race: Allergies, don't you know...
-No sack race/three legged race: Too dangerous and might cause "serious injury"
-Kids getting to sit on CHAIRS between races in case they get cold. In July. On the grass.
And this isn't even going into the fact they don't get awards, medals, that the "track" is about the size of a mini, and that half the time, the kids don't know what the hell they are supposed to be doing...
*gah!*
