How is it that two boats can collide head on like ? They are 2 dots in the middle of the ocean ! You would think that with such a generous amount of space around them , they would at least try to keep away from each other !
I can only imagine that someone wasn't looking in the right direction.
I have a feeling neither boat was watching where they were going. One of them should have been able to turn away from the other.
It would have been terrifying to be in the small boat, especially towards the front!
Stupidity kills... and inertia too btw, you cannot stop a boat like a car and they were both going pretty fast. The little one had the right of way.

Assuming that the smaller boat is more manouverable and by the audible screams that it also was carrying vunerable passengers: if the big boat wasn't going to change course - then the little boat that took the pounding should have kept wide berth.
The old adage : STAY OUT of the way of the big boys
I think I would give the right of way to anything that was bigger than me.
