Gravatar Worth clicking through to the Loreena McKennitt vids in the sidebar

Gravatar She has a beautiful voice!

Cheers for pointing that out Guru John!

Gravatar *groan*

The song titles "Losing My Religion" and "Stairway To Heaven" suggest they may be trying to be cute-wicked, which would be unfortunate by itself. But if, along the way, they happen to choose popular songs that translate well to the chant form, that might be worth listening to.

Gravatar The choice of songs was down to me.

When you look at the track lists from the CDs they're from ...

... there aren't that many tracks with any kind of religious 'connotations.'

Gravatar I see now, there are quite a few videos on YouTube.
Another complaint I have, however, is the accompaniment with musical instruments--proper Gregorian Chant is unaccompanied.

I know I'm being picky--but the overall effect reminds me of Steve McDonald--whose music gets old really quick

Gravatar Uh, Gregorian chant is monophonic and never accompanied, especially not by new-agey melodies and percussion.

Though, personally, I find actual chant very dull compared to the renaissance polyphonic style of, say, Josquin.

Gravatar You're right John and Allen, Gregorian chanting is unaccompanied, and maybe this is what Universal Music are planning to do.

I just added the videos for illustrative purposes only .
