But didn't Falwell say that McCain and Guiliani were unacceptable cuz of being divorced?? Maybe that was another rightwingwackoreligiousloon. They all kinda look the same...

McCain is actually unacceptable because he's somewhat to the left of Hillary.
As to Newt's "indiscretions," who gives a rat's ass? Ya don't like him prodding the staff, don't vote for him. He's too politically hot to get into office anyhow, and it ain't like he was lying about it, or had to discuss it at all, for that matter.
As to the "irony" that Newt's newt was swimming up strange waters at the same time he was aggravating Clinton:
No one seems to "get it" that Clinton didn't have a problem because he was blasting pecker snot all over chunky interns' blue dresses -- other than the fact that using the most powerful office on earth in order to score with homely, star-struck 19-year-olds seems a little unseemly and probably wouldn't have earned him many new votes, no one would really have paid more than passing attention except EBay bidders and Hillary's staff (she personally ALSO didn't give a rat's ass.)
He took his hits because he committed FELONY PERJURY while UNDER OATH in an office of trust. Like Scooter, remember? Lying about stuff that doesn't matter? Except Clinton wasn't some Vice-Presidential staff wank, but was actually RUNNING the whole freakin' thing?
'Course, unlike Scooter, Clinton weaseled his way out of it, and now everyone thinks it was all about banging Monica, because Americans have the attention span of goldfish. Or newts.

Clinton committed perjury under oath BECAUSE the right paid more than passing attention at the fact that he was "blasting pecker snot all over chunky interns' blue dresses." Yeah, he lied and got nailed for it. Serves him right. But dude, putting him on the stand and asking if he had sexual relations with Lewinsky in the first place was fucking first-rate bush league and the kind of pansy-ass politics I'd expect from the whiny left.

Jeff --
And there's the exact problem. Equating "bush league politics" with "committing a Federal Felony". The fact that most Americans have lost track of the difference speaks volumes as to where we, primarily founded as a land of laws, are headed.
Look, I didn't like Clinton. I thought he was a sleazy sack of shit before he left Arkansas. But if, when the question arose, he'd either said "That's none of your fucking business -- go ahead and cite me for contempt and lets fight it out in court," or "Yeah, I boffed her - why, you just nosey or do YOU want a sniff?" even I would have been arguing for him.
But the moment he committed a MAJOR CRIME in the service of covering his wrinkly ass in something as unimportant as this, he blew it. What is his credibility after that? He's the fucking PRESIDENT. If he'd been a cop, they'd have fired him instantly because he would be utterly useless on the job, part of which is at least being able to say with a straight face that he's never lied in court, never mind been indicted.
After that, I wouldn't have cared if they'd come after him with hounds, torches and pitchforks. Oh, yeah, that's what happened. Tough tittie.
Same for Scooter. Lied to the Grand Jury and it turned out he didn't even need to 'cause that open pustule Fitzgerald knew from Day 1 that Armitage was the leaker, and the only reason he was talking to Scooter in the first place was to TRY to get him to lie about it. Talk about a politically motivated prosecution.
Well, he did. Fuck him. Ask for a pardon later.

Oh, please. A bunch of hymn-singing bible beaters caught the pilot getting blown and decided to hijack the plane in the name of Jesus, and they are still pissed off it didn't work.

GOD I HATE HALOSCAN. I posted a really clever response to you, and it's fucking GONE. Unbelievable.
Of course, I'll never be able to reconstruct the pearl of wisdom, so I'll just have to move along.
I remember it had the phrase "Hillary's buttboy" in it though.

I agree with AD on this one. Just cuz the question shouldn't have been asked doesn't mean perjury is okay. Newt may not be a hypocrite (on this subject) either, but that doesn't mean he isn't a sack of slime.

I agree with pretty much everything you said in your response, AD. As I said, Clinton lied and got nailed for it, and that serves him right. I haven't lost track of that at all. My whole point, though, was to refute the idea that no one had a problem with Clinton's "indescretions." If that were true, he never would have been on the stand being asked those questions. The right looked for something, anything, to nail Clinton with, and what they found was him nailing someone who wasn't his wife. So to hear someone from the right say, "We weren't judging him for his sexual indescretions, we only judged him for his perjury," I call bullshit. One doesn't exist without the other. I have a lot more respect for the one who says, "He was the President and we held him to a higher standard, so yes, we judged him for his immoral behavior and then we impeached him because he wasn't man enough to admit it." But someone like Newt can't say that because, oh gee, now I'm running for office and I'm a fucking sleezebag too. Fuck Clinton. Fuck Newt. Fuck 'em all. Pussies all of 'em.

It always amazes me whe people can't stand Clinton for his one lie, because those are, by and large, the same people who support Bush despite the fact that he does nothing BUT lie. And his lies have caused thousands of unnecessary deaths. If you don't like lying, why is it okay now?
It just helps prove my thesis that most people don't give a shit what happens to America. They just want THEIR SIDE to win. Pretty sickening when you get down to it.
