Yup. Good analysis. I don't know what the media people are saying about it, but to me it's all faded pretty much to a concern that Obama is politically naive. Dangerously so? Nah. IF GWB taught me anything, it's that the country will survive no matter what kind of person we elect. Even a commie pinko leftist who went to law school. Unless of course he pulls out of Iraq too fast, then we'll all be madly memorizing the Koran while standing in line to get our heads chopped off. All except me. I'll be in a commune up in Lassen County teaching weapons and calligraphy and having interracial sex.
(Where did that come from?)

I agree -- it's a hateful glob of collective-blaming and sins-of-the-fathering, but it isn't racist.
You know, I wouldn't mind so much if a poor black person said this stuff, but a guy who's building a 10,000 square foot retirement home? Please.

People call the guy a hater.
Well, I suppose you could mean me, since I used that exact word just a few posts down. I did not call him a racist, though. I said that giving him a pass on the basis of his color would be racist, because I think holding people to different standards of behavior purely on the basis of their race fits the bill.
He does strike me as racist, but the real point, for me, isn't about racism, so if you think he's just all sunshine and tolerance, fine. For me it's about that hate thing. And you're being intentionally cute with your little "if reciting the facts is hate". There's a difference between righteous anger and what this man does.
Haters don't make good leaders, not of any community, in any capacity. I'm sure we can all think of a dozen examples inside of ten seconds to show that forming common goals around shared hate and fear just rarely turns out well.
And personally, as a spiritual-Christian type, a so-called man of God standing up in a church and asking God to damn anyone or anything completely sickens me.
These are just opinions I happen to hold. Based on what I've read, I think the man's a repulsive ass. But that doesn't mean I question his right to be one, and it doesn't mean I hold anyone besides him responsible for his repulsive assiness.

Hmm. Well, Teacake, now you've got me going on hate. I don't think hate is inherently bad. In fact sometimes it is quite healing and healthy. I will make a parenthetical post on the topic before getting to the interracial sex.

It may be a matter of semantics, but my personal moral judgment is that anger, rage, indignation, and a host of other things usually supposed to be negative can be both constructive and necessary under the right circumstances. But I hold hate to be a separate thing. It's just not something I see as having any positive outcome for anyone, hater included. But then I start getting into the spirit/soul/Love vs. Fear/God vs. not God thing, and then you start laughing at me, so, maybe we can just get to the sex post?
