Gravatar Your review had me laughing out loud (not good - I'm at work!). Especially your line about the feminists...

Gravatar I think you'll enjoy the movie, hon - plenty of good-looking men, many with long hair! =P

Gravatar I just wish they had better abs (he said, looking down at his own paunch...).

Gravatar I loved your review. As for me, I'm a knuckle dragger. Give me blood, swords and breasts, and I'm happy. ROTFLMAO

Gravatar Pablo - hah!

Billiam - by knuckle dragger you must mean any non-gay, non-metrosexual male...

Gravatar You know that Amynda of Pandagon was barely able to keep herself restrained. You just know it

The science vs religion thing was, I think, more of a logic versus mysticism thing. They were not against the gods per se, as they were against the mindless mysticism and superstition that ruled the day.

Gravatar I'm dying to see the movie. I really want to see it in a theater and be immersed in it.

The Spartan's uniforms are a bit to graphic novel, but if you can't separate yourself from reality, just a little bit, you're missing out on a lot of entertainment in the movies.

Watching this increased my respect for the actors, but imagine living that, every day, from your early childhood. I expect the Spartan's were a notch above the gladiator army that Sparticus led in martial and lethal ability.

Have I mentioned that I want to see it?

Gravatar " the feminist will rant about the oppressive patriarchy and how wars would never happen if women were in charge, then go home and pull out her favorite toy while thinking of all the firm, sweaty man-muscles on display."

Almost fell off my chair reading that line. What can the libertarian see in this movie?

As I'm sure you know I enjoyed the movie, but more for the doing the right thing regardless of the cost theme.

Miller's comics are storyboards for movies and if the director is smart he pretty much leaves it alone.

Gravatar Lol

I suspect that your review might be better than the actual movie. I think the real bottom-line question for me might be whether or not a hyper person can manage to sit through it?

Gravatar Another one for the waiting-for-it-to-come-out-on-video list.

Gravatar NOTE: Nice abs, 300 men all ripped, buff and tough - a movie for men and woman alike

Gravatar I really want to see this movie. I'm sure it's best on the big screen, too.

Gravatar My pastor recommended it. It must be good.

Gravatar Or he enjoys ripped men Ducky

Gravatar Yes, Arielle. I also hold doors for women and others. Act polite towards most people, and STILL say yes sir/'mam. Knuckle dragger...

Gravatar It is cinematic art, by the way those hot abs were c-generated. Sorry to pee on your parade but the Spartans were not a freedom loving people. They favored an aristocracy over a republic. They were as noble fighting for their nation, as were the SS fighting for theirs. Read about the suffering of the Helots under the Spartans

Gravatar They were free men as far as they were concerned... it wasn't about fighting for democracy - it was about fighting for the freedom to continue to make your own choices (ie not being slaves to the Persians). So this story still holds just fine.

Gravatar They were as noble fighting for their nation, as were the SS fighting for theirs

What a horrendous comparison! The SS were oppressing their own people, and those of conquered nations. The Spartans went up against a force to protect their homeland. A force so large it could take a week for them to pass by one spot! Such bravery is seldom seen. Despotic actions are seen everywhere. Huge difference.

Gravatar then go home and pull out her favorite toy while thinking of all the firm, sweaty man-muscles on display.

I couldn't believe you wrote that! Ha! great stuff. I think I am going to be forced to see this on video, unfortunately. It is or was on the Imax here which would be fantastic.
