what I really miss is the cheapness of the food ...a dish here (regardless whether it a noodle dish or rojak) cost at least A$6.50..so cannot order like what we used to do in Singapore..

hey stef, knowing what a great cook you are, I'm sure you'll replicate an authentic-tasting plate of char kway teow.
pinkcocoa, you must indeed try kway chap if you come to S'pore. As for rojak, I think you could try to create it yourself if there's pre-mix rojak paste or prawn paste in Sydney.
Mik, MrsTweety, you are both spot on about the convenience and cheapness of the food here. I really started to appreciate it when I read other blogs and saw how expensive (and sometimes, crappy) Asian food is in countries like Australia and the U.S.. All that food we had in this post only cost about S$10.00, excluding drinks. We S'poreans are a lucky lot!

Hi Julia,
Such yummy looking food...all the dishes that I need to try when I get to Singapore. I've heard that the food is so good and cheap! Guess you've read my blog huh? Prices here are outrageous. I couldn't get a decent fried rice for less than US$5.00 and you got that whole meal there for about the same! *sigh* Can't wait for my trip...

Yes Reid, I read your blog and was aghast at how ridiculously expensive Asian food over there is. hey, let me know when you're coming to S'pore and we'll organize a food tour with the other SG food bloggers.
