we love to use these in a stirfry. it's a subtler flavor compared to garlic. but garlic is good - that's another story altogether i've used these in chai tow kway to very good results. yum. i'm getting hungry.

Hi Julia,
I've never seen those here, but they seem interesting. I guess if you stir-fry them, you won't need to add any garlic! =) Unless, of course, you want more of that garlic flavor.
Have you tried to steam these with any success? They kind of remind me of asparagus.

hey stef, garlic sprouts in chai tow kway? Very interesting idea indeed! How are they used?
Hi Reid, I guess I just can't get enough of that garlic flavor. Actually, the aroma of the garlic sprouts are pretty delicate, and for me, it's just a habit to add garlic to any stir-fried vegetables.
I've never thought of steaming garlic sprouts, and I think this might work! Thanks for the idea. I'll try it and let you know.
spots, yes, NTUC has them, but sometimes the garlic sprouts have been left too long and aren't very fresh. Check to see that the ends aren't dry.

Found you while searching for recipe for Garlic shoots
Was watching Food Safari on SBS Television and a chinese chef showed us how to prepare and said it was like a combo of asparagus and Snow Pea. I was unable to view that part of the program on the web so your info helped.
Thanks and I hope you get a look at thee Food Safari video which was on last wednesday as it will show you the garlic stems being prepared there
Love and Light Danny
