Anita,
I have been working with purchasing and cost analysis for about 10 years, so it was interesting to read about the raw material prices and logistics. I think that you will find the solution in the field of supply chain management.

Hi Martin,
Thank you for the note. Yes, raw materials and logistical issues have been a real problem here in the States.
We've even felt it with a piece of Chinese furniture we ordered thru eBay, that is seeming to take forever to get here. (I think somebody is walking it across the ocean over all those ships backed up at Long Beach Harbor!!!)
God Jul! Merry Christmas!
Best,

I can also assure you that raw material costs are being felt just as much in the UK and everywhere else for that matter.
Our customers can hardly believe the price increase of steel over the past 18 months. You simply can't absorb such increases. Firms who have been working to very tight margins are really beginning to struggle.
Now I'm over in the States, I'll be very interested to find out the basic costing differences between the two countries. Shipping to America has always been an horrendous problem and always prohibited us sending anything there.
Should be an interesting little exercise. Paul Woodhouse | Email | Homepage | 01.07.05 - 1:55 pm | Link to this comment
