lanugage barrier

Gravatar I really like the poem, but I confess I probably don't "get" it. But that's how I am most of the time with poetry. But I got a hell of a picture.

Gravatar I'm all about the image. Meanings change. Remember, this is from the Book of Images. Anyway, thanks. Glad you like it.

Gravatar Could you tell me about the reference to the rebar and the scotch-taped hand?

Gravatar (I don't usually explain anything in my poems so, you see, you are held in high esteem here at the language barrier.)

These are details taken from an image, a crumbling statue of a brown-frocked monk in a very old church in Mexico, one I photographed. Just as I wrote it, rebar poking though his broken, scotch-taped hand. As though the cross had internalized itself within his body. He was so sad, but not neglected, as evidenced by the scotch tape, all there was to tend him with, an act of devotion. The rest is up to you. I do not want to direct people to my way of seeing. Poetry can reveal the edge but the reader must leap and fly.

When I find the photo, I'll post it. It will take a bit of time. I have to rummage through about 10,000.

Gravatar Thank you.

Gravatar oh happy day
