Excellent post.
It really was not that long ago that single adult women could not even get birth control. They would be asked if their fathers consented or simply denied.
Too many people forget how much things have changed over such a short time period.

Aspazia, thank you for this. Choice and control over our own bodies and destiny is ESSENTIAL. Education about making the right choice, is also essential. Hooray for your Mom and all she has done. Really an outstanding story. Thank you for sharing!

Looks like I will be the dissenter in this group. Makena mentions in her comments that control over a woman's body is essential, her destiny as it were. At what point do we have the choice about someone else's body though? Is this developing mass of cells a living human being dependant on its mother for its safey and well being or is it a parasite? The scientific world went crazy when a single-cell bacteria from Mars was thought to be discovered on a meteor. This was proof of LIFE on Mars! However an unborn child

You might be surprised, anonymous, that you and I have some similar views. However, I believe the decision should be the woman's...based on the details of the situation.

False analogy, Anonymous (typically). A single cell that's part of a larger organism and requires the support of that organism isn't alive.
Regardless of that, the bodily integrity of the host comes first.
