What a beautiful post about Al-Mar Orchards! I have been buying their apples for a while now and was so thrilled when I saw them in our local grocery store. In fact, this fall their apples have been the only food item I buy in the grocery store anymore!
I recently came across your blog and its now one of my favorites. You write beautifully and your topics are fascinating. With each post I learn something new about our great local food shed.

Just love your blog, all of it so interesting. I was thrilled to see that Al-Mar Orchard is still operating; I believe I was a patron when Jim's grandfather owned it. It was a wonderful place, and even a fish pond out back. They were wonderful people, and sold wonderful products. Visiting there was our Fall treat.

Jessica - It's so great that you already know about Al-Mar! And thanks so much for your kind words. It really gave me a warm feeling to know that I might be a small reason that someone finds out something they didn't know about our great agricultural state.
Patti - You've been so encouraging all along in this! Thank you!
Aunt Marte - I'm thrilled that you've found my blog and that you like it! I know you secretly like technology.
I hope all three of you know that I'm always looking for people who want to bring out their own inner bloggers to talk about their adventures in finding out what's important to them about food...
Thanks again - it's so much more fun when I know that someone is actually looking at this and finding even a tiny reason to think more about food things.

The hard cider is great. Watch out for the goats though. They like to play practical jokes on unsuspecting urbanites.
Here is a link to a short video on Jim and his organic production.

My dearest sister,
Reading your blog brought tears to my eyes as I took a jaunt down memory lane. So well do I remember those wonderful warm sugary cider doughnuts I can almost taste them now. What a beautiful piece of writing and so interesting. After reading your blog my own sense of "time panic" eased ever so slightly.
I think you are doing a beautiful job. You'll be happy to know that I have your blog book marked now and visit as often as I can!
