Gravatar Dear John

Thank you for these wonderful thoughts and pictures. I was so sorry not to be able to come to the funeral and I found your account of your visit to Trewin hugely moving.

Thank you so much.

Much love to you,

Andrew

Gravatar Beautiful man, just beautiful. Very touching - good for you.

Gravatar hello im ben foster, nick foster is my uncle. i have found what you have written very interesting.

Gravatar What a delight. Our family lived at Trewin in 1967 and 1968.We rented a ground floor flat at the west end of the main house. Shortly after we left the UK and went to South Africa and evetually Australia.

I was eight going on nine at the time. I still have very clear memories of the house, gardens, the long drive way with the copper beech trees and the surrounding fields; in the autumn I can remember building dams and catching tadpoles in the stream that ran through the field below Trewin. I also remember Mrs and Mr Foster. I seem to recall that Mr Foster was on the County Council; I took a picture of him dressed up in his finery with my box browny camera. I also remember the family who lived in the stables at the rear and on the east side of the house. I can not remember their names. The family had a girl and boy. My sister and I spent a lot of time in their company during the summer holidays.

Then there was the daffodil field beyond the west side of the garden and the owl santuary at the top of the lane up the back. Trewin was a wonderful place.
