Tell it like it is...

Gravatar I took the day off yesterday to watch. Amazing stuff, yet again, as it has been all summer. I thought we'd blown it by lunch, and who'd have expected Pietersen to be the one to play such a vital innings. His mum was on the radio this morning - called it a 'conservative' innings. "Conservative for Kevin", she said.

Great stuff - agree with you re: nature of sport and such. I'd have made Warne man of the series I think, dazzling stuff. And I think he'll stick around for one last torment of England on home soil in 18 months time before calling it a day. Unless his arm falls off or something.

Gravatar I completely agree JJ, I think it's beyond belief that we've had such a combination of unbelievable drama together with the incredible skill of Warne, Pietersen, Gilchrist and Flintoff, AND with a level of sportsmanship, decency and camaraderie that I've never seen in a series before. Splendid stuff! Even though the weather has been rubbish up here I'm going to remember this as a golden summer.

As a footnote, my parents were on holiday a few weeks ago and got chatting to a nice couple who mentioned that their son had been called up as twelfth man for England - their son being a certain Gary Pratt.
