At least he mentioned us...
That "I got a direct line to God" reminded me of someone. In office. Right now.

I'm pretty sure that Lincoln was an Atheist: http://www.nndb.com/people/332/0.../332/000024260/
"It is difficult to determine Lincoln's religion, if any. He would sometimes attend services, likely as a courtesy to his wife, and occasionally quote scripture in speeches. In a letter quoted by Joseph Lewis, Lincoln wrote "The Bible is not my book nor Christianity my profession. I could never give assent to the long, complicated statements of Christian dogma." Law partner William Herndon stated that Lincoln "was an infidel of the radical type... never mentioned the name of Jesus, except to scorn and detest the idea of a miraculous conception." Wife Mary Todd Lincoln's opinion was that "Mr. Lincoln had no hope and no faith in the usual acceptance of those words.""

Wow, well it ain't perfect but it sure beats the hell out of the bullshit drivel coming from McCain. I think this is probably the first time I've ever heard a presidential candidate mention atheists in a non-derisive manner. What a very nice surprise.

"I will do everything in my power to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon. Everything in my power. Everything."
Shouldn't continued support of a religious war under the guise of WMD hunting get some posts here? A throwaway mention to nonbelievers, and I'm supposed to feel warm and fuzzy? He's telling people what they want to hear, and he's going to cornhole everyone with another 100 years of war. Just like McCain wants. He should just offer him VP and we can get this charade over with. Start the next wave of bombing already. Change my fucking ass.

I certainly hope Mr. Obama that you also believe in astrology like Ronald Reagan. Perhaps alchemy as well. The correct answer would have been "There is no place for superstition in public life."
