These types of signs are just popping up everywhere now aren't they? w00t!
Although this particular one could not be considered offensive however you look at it so I don't know what these Christian nuts are complaining about :S

What a bunch of assholes complaining about this. All the sign says is "hey atheists, there are other people like you out there". That's *ALL* there is to the message. That's IT. At great expense this very mild simple message is being put up. It's not disparaging of religion in the slightest, and yet even just stating this simple fact of demographics is depicted as an attack on religion.
The dishonest religion meme sure has developed some powerful defense mechanisms hasn't it? One small message that doesn't even come remotely close to the sort of vitriol you see on church bulletin signs all across the country is depicted as being "controversial" when it's in service of the opposing viewpoint.

I thought the same as the radio host. "Don't believe in God? You are not alone." almost sounds like something you could read on a Christian ad - "You are _not_ alone!"

I like this message better than the bus ads about 'god probably doesn't exist to stop worrying, etc.'
These are much less confrontational to the religious because they're not directed toward the religious. They're directed, clearly, toward atheists. Simple as that.
I can't believe anyone would have a problem with these.

it's not the content of the message that they find offensive, it's the message's existance.
theists take god(s) for granted so the very existance of atheists is offensive to them.
while most of the time they don't think about it, think atheists are misguided, just hate god(s) or something similar, a big billboard is like a threatning finger-poke in the chest, pressing the "you are wrong" button. and with the 'god=right' axiom as a starting point they see the sign, whatever my be written on it, as a "god=wrong" statement saying the basis for their life is wrong.

Funny that the radio host says the evidence for God's existence is hard to ignore -- and then makes some strange analogy.
I love how religious people act like God's existence is a no-brainer, but can then provide no reasonable explanation for why there is no consensus about exactly which of the hundreds of gods worshipped is actually reigning in heaven.

Joshua:
Maybe the tax analogy isn't so strange. After all, the IRS wasn't able to demonstrate the existence of tax laws to Kent Hovind's satisfaction.

Don't beliefe IN THE EXISTENCE of a god? Your NOT alone.
Don't believe in god only give the impression there is a god,but one chooses not to believe in it.
.
That is part of where the " god's a no brianer " argument comes from. And the idea that atheist choose to ignore whats aready there.

and let's not forget the double standard:
advertising an "it's ok to be without god" theme is divisive, while advertising "without god you're a bad person" theme is uniting and not insulting.
you know... it's the thought that counts.

Divisive? It seems pretty inclusive to me. Also, I like how Christians always think they're the only game in town, how is this an attack on just Christians?
But, wow - that radio host makes a great point. For stupidity.

The irony of this is all so delicious. The group is paying for some billboards up in Denver, and one in the Springs.
Big deal. Most people won't care.
But by creating this controversy about this very uncontroversial sign, those Christians are just giving that atheist group more bang for their buck. Fantastic.
