these words are indicative of a fraud: infinite, energy, spirit, soul, infinite mind, infinite energy. I think he stated all of them.

i would like to differ a little bit here....i know its bs...it is pseudoscience....but listen to him carefully....underneath all the crap what basically he is recommending is people to be mindful, compassionate, be aware, be kind, focus on relationships.....sounds very Buddhist to me....leave aside his infinite energy crap...doesnt it make sense that an individual who behaves such a way will be quite peaceful and happy...science has shown that stress indeed causes all kinds of health problems....so after all, its not a surprise that such an individual will probably live longer relative to a greedy corrupted cruel stressed consumer....

I agree, alot of what he says is just good things about how you should care for eachother, but then he connects it with words like "soul","infitine energy" and so on, and nothing can be proven to be true. He should just stick to the basics

Deepak Chopra is a bullshit mongering, quantum flapdoodle peddling fraud; among whose many and varied brands of fuckery are included, for instance, the idea that people who get cancer brought it in themselves through negative thinking and that it can be cured merely by wishing it away. I don't care how many periods you include with your argument that he's harmless because 'he's basically just promoting peace and happiness', it can't absolve him from the horrible shit he spews along with it. Go fuck yourself Mr. Chopra.

@blake i understand what u r sayin and totally agree with u....as i said no doubt that most of the stuff he is saying in this particular video is complete non sense....all i wanted to say that its not complete nonsense....if u clear away all that crap on the surface....the essential advice makes sense...as i said, Buddhists such as Dalai Lama or a psychologist would say without any reference to infinite energy, quantum mechanics or turning on/off genes....basically a healthy mind would lead to healthy body.....rest is complete bullshit and he is definitely guilty of making it look like valid science....and plz ignore my bad habbit of so many periods...

I think you're overstepping the mark by saying a "healthy mind leads to a healthy body". It would be one of thousands of factors that could contribute to health.
Surely you would agree that a healthy mind is also dependant on a healthy diet, as is a body. Surely you would also agree a healthy mind and body is influenced by physical activity, work environment, exposure to various chemical compounds and energy types (radiations, etc). Surely also social interaction is important to facilitate good mental health as well. Not to mention the play of genetics as well.
It is one thing to say you agree with the overall message he is sending but to defend the bullshit it is decorated with is simply saying the "ends justifying the means". I say we are perfectly capable of not only achieving the ends but also capable of not resorting to lies and woo for the means.
Chopra is the epitomy of fraudulent behaviour, not to mention as Dennet would say, an abuser of deepities. This guy spends more time spouting meaningless and self-contradictory statements than he does actually trying to make sense.

@ David u are absolutely right. there is no need to buy into his completely irrational, illogical and unscientific statements/claims in order to achieve the ends, that is, live healthier, happier and ethical lives. absolutely.

It's a bit like Brain Gym. Basically, people learn better if they do a few exercises now and then and drink a reasonable amount of water.
But since everyone kinda knows that already, they have to dress it up in woo about energy buttons and chi flow before they can make money on it.

@Sameer,
I would also largely agree with what you said. The advice is good advice I think, and a good way to live your life. ie, be kind to others, reacted with compassion and love to others, etc. I would disagree that we should only focus on "this moment" because future planning...and worrying about the future is important. And I would say that the world is a little more complicated than the love all philosophy that he creates, but I would say it is applicatible in 95% of the cases or so (random high number I pulled out of the air, to get the point across, it has no real value or meaning).
That being said, I would also say that you flipped it around. On the surface, his message is good. It is once you dig deeper, and find all this bullshit medical and spiritual stuff supporting it that you roll your eyes and say, he is full of shit.
I think that intital message of love and happiness is what sucks people in, and because they like the message, they assume he must have something good to say. The fact is, he has a decent goal...a decent introductory paragraph to his thesis if you will, but the rest of it is utter crap. It is self-contradictory, as David said above, it is meaningless, and it offers no viable way to get to the good place that he wants us to get to in his opening paragraph.

Well I do a lot of martial arts and there is a lot of actual science behind what he says. Eating well, letting go stress etc etc. Like this is just common sense more than anything. But, in the marital arts there are REAL ways, which science agrees, that can release chemicals and endorphins etc and make you happier and healthier. Hes does make some really good points.
Just get by the "energy" of the universe bit there is a lot of truth to what he says.
Yes be skeptical, but please do the research a lot of what he says is what marital artists have been doing for centuries and a lot of it is traditional Chinese medicine which has been proven effective.

If you're a fan of Deepak Chopra, you might want to check out his new stress reducing program; it
’s a first of its kind iPhone application implementing a comprehensive program to remove stress from daily life.
