Thanks! Well worth the time.

if there is one message, it is not think and think again. It is Don't THINK! just surrender, or should i say, Islam.

Gravatar Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because Allah has given the one more (strength) than the other, and because they support them from their means. Therefore the righteous women are devoutly obedient, and guard in (the husband ’s) absence what Allah would have them guard. As to those women on whose part ye fear disloyalty and ill-conduct, admonish them (first), (Next), refuse to share their beds, (And last) beat them (lightly); but if they return to obedience, seek not against them Means (of annoyance): For Allah is Most High, great (above you all).” Surah Nisa, Chapter 4, Verse 34.

Gravatar @Jesmina
I have to point out that the original arabic quran does not have the words you included in brackets. and that's what most muslims that beat their wives are reading. Please read it again without the extra words and see how different it sounds.

Gravatar Yeah but, the quran its self has several meanings in one phrase alone. so the 'beat them' part is not literally batter your wives ect. it can mean up to so many things

Gravatar "it can mean up to so many things"

Like what? can you give me some examples please? What other meaning is there for the Arabic word(s) "wa idriboohun" (and beat them, in English)?? The same word is still used today and does not have any other meanings as far as i know..

Ever thought about why a woman is not allowed to beat her husband?

Gravatar A women cameout of a man's rib. Not from his feet to be walked on, not from his head to be superior over, but from his side to be equal. Under the arm to be protected, and next to the heart to be loved

This is said somewhere in the quran or hadith. i aint sure, but the value of a women is very high and equal to a man in islam. So although it said the beating part, doesnt nessacerily men brutly beat up ur wife. Use your commen sense.

Gravatar "This is said somewhere in the quran or hadith. i aint sure, but the value of a women is very high and equal to a man in islam."

They also say clearly that women are deficient, people pick and choose the verses they like....But seriously, how are women equal to men is islam? they get half the inheritance, they have to obey their husbands, as a witness in court they are worth half a man...etc.
Just take a look at women in all countries where sharia law is applied.

"So although it said the beating part, doesnt nessacerily men brutly beat up ur wife. Use your commen sense."

I didn't say that it necessarily said that, and i don't really care because i don't trust the validity of the whole text anyway... but some people live their lives reading this book, they think its so complex and divine that it has everything, they will interpret it the way they like, because there are verses that say something and others that say the opposite... you will always have differences in opinion... people believe whatever they like.

Gravatar Shareef, no women are not inferior to men in any sense, except one, which is stength.

And you say to provide different meaning of the word "wa idriboohun". Yes, it does mean 'to beat' however it does not solely mean that; it has also been used to mean segregate etc, but that isn't the point becuase i DO believe it means 'beat'. The difference comes in our definition of 'beat'. It does not mean 'batter' in any sense, in fact a hadith says that it you should get a thin cloth and lightly tap your wife on the arm. whats the point? well its more of a humiliation tactic rather than anything else. It is made clear that the man who beats his wife is the worst of muslim.

Gravatar Thank u Brother ali, ur reply makes more sense than mines. lol.
