Hello Rod, not only can coal and nuclear power co-exist, I think in some instances, it would behoove the coal industry as the hyrogen output could be utitilzed to boost production of a coal to liquids plant.

I certainly agree. Here is a link to an interesting company developing the concept of turning coal into a clean diesel fuel using the F-T process with a nuclear heat source.
