Does anyone know exactly how the uranium hydride reactor works? I read http://
www.hyperionpowergenerati...about_tech.html, but it isn't clear what is actually used as the coolant and how the coolant is recirculated to heat exchangers which I assume would be steam generators for a steam cycle secondary plant.

Basically the uranium hydride, serves as a combination fuel and moderator, and yes it makes steam to drive a turbine, or for use as process heat.

The Hyperion website makes repeated claims that their reactors can't go "supercritical". What's up with that? If it can't go supercritical, then it can't produce any power at all! Do these power modules operate on the fission of uranium?
