Gravatar It's interesting that this particular post hasn't attracted any comments. I'd intended to comment myself when Rod first put it up, but did not. The reason is simple: The saga of the German power industry, such as it has developed under the tutelage of the Greens in the coalition government has been so dismal, pathetic, illogical and delusionary that it's difficult to know where to start.


Gravatar let me comment - it is quite likely that in 2020 Germany will need both the old nukes and the new cokes, due to increase of demand in the region, lack of new investments and aging of all the useful baseload resources...

You're right. However, there are at least a few people - like a former chancellor who negotiated the planned nuclear plant shutdowns - that are making a ton of money in the natural gas supply industry.

Somehow Germany keeps making enough quality products that its economy continues to survive despite all efforts to destroy it.
