I'm a grad student who is a fairly good web developer on the side. You can forward them my email address and perhaps I can help out a bit.

I'm still thinking about making a bumper sticker that has a periodic table square for Pu, and on the side says "Use All You Want, We'll Make More"

Very good Website. Good information, but the way you navigate through it is not natural. That will be fixed with time. I was able to learn about used nuclear fuel, do some math and figure out on my own that the anti-nukes are spreading lies about long lasting waste being dangerous.

The site appears to be a subset of the ANS site. It's using CGI and a lot of table formatting which isn't the way to go for the long term.
I would advise them to basically start over with an open source content management system like Drupal, Joomla, or wordpress. It won't take too long to migrate the existing content to a new platform either. Once the layout is configured on such a site, they can then get down to the business of creating content and not worry about employing a webmaster - volunteer or not. Also, by going with such a platform they can take advantage of many Web 2.0 type abilities that would be just too difficult with a stagnant design that they have now.
