I'MMA LET YOU FINISH

GravatarBut despite the rhetoric, skeptics noted that Bush actually reduced his request for AmeriCorps grants from $364 million for fiscal 2003 to $324 million for fiscal 2004.

Notice how "skeptics" noted what Bush did? What a wuss this guy is, giving himself deniability all the way to the voting booth in November of next year.

Gravataryou cannot call a lie a lie unless it ivolved the Clenis™.

Gravatar"Skeptics Noted ..."
"Some Democrats Say ..."

Good names for a blog.

GravatarThe time to ask these questions was BEFORE we sent our troops in harms way.

GravatarGee, I wonder why Broder didn't figure this out when Bush raided Social Security, which he promised not to do numerous times during the campaign.

I wonder why Broder didn't figure this out when Bush's tax cuts spurred huge deficits, which he claimed over and over again they would not do.

I wonder why Broder didn't figure this out when Bush started making his trifecta joke, about how he wouldn't do any of the aforementioned "unless....", which he never said during the campaign.

Oh hell, this could go on all day.

GravatarLike falling off the scooter: aWol wants the photo op bad...

I know we're getting a laugh out of this, but I'm afraid most people see it as just confirming that he's a 'regular guy'.

GravatarBetter late than never for the "Dean."

But who kidnapped Dan Schorr's brain?
Watergate hero and Nixon enemies list great Schorr told Scott Simon this morning that the carrier stunt landing was a "wonderful photo opportunity" and he wasn't being sarcastic.

GravatarThis is the message that needs to be hammered on:
What he says vs. what he does.

Molly Ivens said this when he was fist elected because she had seen him in action in Texas. She said he always said one thing but did another. That's his pattern. Now, to get people to notice that it may not be good for the country or themselves.

Good luck.

GravatarI see a series of 30 second TV spots, run by the DNC and/or whoever the Dem nominee is, very simple in concept and message...something along the lines of "What Bush said...what Bush did/does". The first part of the commercial would be a voice over, "Here's what Bush said" followed by a video snippet of him lying. The second part would have the voice over, "But here's what Bush did" followed by citations from the press and bills that have been signed into law. They could easily put 50 or more of these in the can and run them in heavy rotation. Starting now would be a good idea.

GravatarOops, I forgot to add the irresistable tag line for the end of each 30 second spot: "Bush: he talks the talk, then takes a walk."

GravatarA few posts below this whine about Bush not spending enough money, you can find a post whining about Bush increasing the deficit.

GravatarJennifer,
You're good.

Gravatar(Then again, maybe we don't want aWol to get comfortable with pushing buttons....)

Oh, Jeebus Henry Christos! No, no, no button pushing!

GravatarCrap. My bad button pushing. Sorry.

GravatarJennifer - I second tom p - you are good.

Nice try, WC. Doesn't fly, and you know it. One reason for the huge deficits is to choke-off funding for things like Americorps. So it's the usual hypocrisy for the Shrub to come out publicly and say we should all support it.

GravatarReminds me of Hunter Thompson's account of one of the Alsops--a loyal Republican company man all his life, utterly disappointed and disillusioned as Watergate burst around him.
As I've said before, how can anyone live so many years on Earth without developing enough of a bullshit detector to be able to see right through this guy? Mine was screaming from the very beginning.

GravatarCarl Heineken - Oh, so was mine, the minute he started campaigning for governor of Texas. But then, I've always despised the Bush political cartel.

GravatarThe "Dean" is a fuckhead. No two ways about it.

GravatarGary F - do I hear quacking?

GravatarJennifer, Here's a start:

Caught on Film: The Bush Credibility Gap

A photographic history of the Bush Administration putting its mouth where its money isn’t.

Gravatarwhat an arc of photo opps for shrub, from a 'triumphant' landing on an aircraft carrier to a segway crash.

LOL!!!!!!!!!

GravatarMan I'm very glad to find that photo-opp file on Bush. Thank you very much.

I read about all of them but never saw the pictures. It's a profoundly mean thing to do, yet he's never called on it.

I doubt the Dean people will leave any weapon untouched. Oh yes. Some way, some how, Bush will pay for this.

GravatarDan schore knows that the sheeple not paying a lot of attention will be wowed by codpiece boy.

and get jennifer a job producin bumper stickers.

GravatarFrom Frank Rich, June 2001:

"Photo ops are nothing new in the modern American presidency, but didn't they use to occasionally dramatize a president's policies rather than disguise them? It's now reaching the point that a smiling Bush appearance blessing any cause, program or habitat is tantamount to a visit from the angel of death."

http://www.commondreams.org/view...s01/0609- 02.htm

You really have to give 'em credit for being able to get away with this crap for so long.

Gravatarhttp://www.house.gov/ appropriati...aughtonfilm.htm

Yes, this is great stuff, but there are no URIs in the middle and right columns, so readers can't judge for themselves whether the claims are true.

Great device, though. Like Jennifers: He says/he does thing.

GravatarGreat photo opps for Dubya, from a 'triumphant' landing on an aircraft carrier to a segway crash.

What if Dubya was at the controls of the Jet?

Gravatar"What if Dubya was at the controls of the Jet?"

A *really* great photo op. Up there with the Zapruder film.

Gravatarpansy - that photo-op can be turned into an albatross to hang around his neck. Ads showing him standing under the "Mission Accomplished" banner could just cite the number of US servicemen who've been killed in Iraq since - by the time the election rolls around, it will be over 100 at least.

Take the snippets from his speech where he talks about how proud he is of the military and the debt owed to them by all Americans, and follow that with the facts about how he cut veterans benefits and about how the GOP denied the child tax deduction to many military families, because they're paid so poorly and don't make enough money to be worthy of conservative compassion.

I'm telling you, you got to start looking for the nuggets of gold in this Rovian shit.

Gravatarlet's just pray so Jennifer. i can't take 4 more bloody years and his judges for life.

GravatarAnother thing unoted is that slashing AmeriCorps is yer another example of what happens when you give massive taxcuts and strangle Federal programs. It's the terrific programs like AmeriCorps that suffer. What a shame. What a damn shame..
