I think Dean's strategy of heavily criticizing the administration is right on. If you look at Bush's polling numbers he always drops when there is sustained criticism of his policies. He keeps pulling them up by bombing some other country, but that is not going to be a sustainable political strategy over time. Whoever gets the democratic nod needs to go after his jugular on a day by day basis and force the media to cover every single criticism. The Democrats are in a good spot because they control nothing so the sorry state of the country will be viewed as 100% of the Republican's doings. Bush won't get more than 45% of the popular vote in 2004. You heard it here first.

Dean absolutely won't get the nomination, much less the presidency.
He simply comes across poorly, and he isn't running on his true record. Bashing other candidates doesn't help him at all (only with the tiny number of supporters), and he's pretty well burned all of his bridges from being considered at v.p. possibility.
Not smart, not smart at all. His campaign is an exercise in disaster.
However, he's just the kind of guy Rove likes.

Dean will win because he is a savvy fighter that can attract the liberal wing of the party in the primaries, and run on his moderate record as govenor (sound like someone we know?).

Dean will probably loss if he runs, but more then likely so will any of the others currently out there. At least he is making a stand for the Democrats against shrub. Not this wishy washy crap where most of them sound like Republicans from 20 years ago. I'd rather have McCain then Lieberman. Maybe Dean will arouse the pent up demand for decency so sorely missing today.

Don't count on a sure Dean loss, folks. Polls following what would happen if the election were held today are completely useless right now. They're completely useless even two weeks before the election.
That said, Bush still only garners 53%...a very slim majority against what is at best a mystery opponent! Let's stop this bull about Dean being a left-wing extremist. His record is more than just gay marriages. Just read up on this guy, and you'll be pleasantly surprised at the cross-section of good he's done in the best interests of his state. He can and should do the same for the country.
People are fed up, wingnuts. We're sick over what the government has done to our image, our way of life and our standing in the world. Enough is enough. It's time for Howard Dean.

Whether this resonates with the electorate remains to be seen.
Nyeh...I don't think Hillary is too worried about Dean beating Bush. But if any Democrat looks likely to create a real challenge next year, you can be sure she and Bill will sabotage their campaign - to ensure no Democrat is sitting in the White House when she makes her bid in 2008.

Susan Nunes is a Nevadan who wishes Gore didn't drop out, is all. That, and she has the manners of a rabid pit bull. Always remember: She is right, everyone else is wrong, or she comes up to you and rips your throat out with her shiv.
She can't control her irrational, non-factually-based hatred of Howard Dean. She just can't. This psychosis got her kicked off BKP. (She'll blame Ferguson Foont's imperialist attitude, but the facts are that in this case, most of the other BKP regulars were sick of her lying about Dean and fully supported Foont's pulling her plug.)

By the way:
The TV ads are a brilliant move. They'll help him win his case with MoveOn.org's membership.
If Dean wins the MoveOn.org primary (and the indications are that he will), suddenly he'll have two million people backing him. And donating money to him.
That's a lot of people to have committed to your cause, seventeen months before the elections.
And if you've been following MoveOn's donation record, you know that they can mobilize quickly to get money to the candidates of their choice.

The Hannitys and Weiners and Limbaughs are already working to paint Dean as some sort of left-wing fanatic.
So I suppose that equal rights, fiscal responsibility, sensible foreign policy, and democracy are all symptoms of left-wing fanaticism. You know, things that are fervently opposed by the modern Republican mentality.
At this point I would vote for anybody - I would vote for Pat Buchanan - before I vote for Bush, again.

Lol, listen to some of the quotes of the die-hard liberals in the Vermont legislature from when Dean was Governor. Dean was not very nice to them at all.
It displayed to me that he's a realist, and won't let any idealogy get in the way of practical governance. The article is at TAP, use the search engine.
Dean is no flaming liberal, lol. He's also got very, very good fighting skills. It's why the monkeys get restless, lol.

Read the 91 punditry on Clinton and it's pretty unenthusiastic also.
I think it's Dean. He's smart, he's caring, he good in debates (and he'll get better) and he's not going all mushy on Repug misbehavior - the trait in Gore that makes him an unacceptable choice.
I still get furious when I remember the young woman who confronted Gore on camera accusing Clinton of rape. Did he tell her to shut the hell up? Did he march her skanky ass down on stage and demand she identify herself and make and substantiate the charges and then rip her apart for her sheer vileness and her public treachery? Did he point out that every single charge about Clinton had been, not only discredited, but totally obliterated by impartial and established documentation? No, he waffled. Watching him you'd suspect that he believed the charges.
Gore is a smart guy who'd make a first rate president except for the fact that he does not know how to deal with partisan conflict. He'd never survive four years of the bloodsucking zombies who populate our congress right now. Everything wrong would be blamed on him (even though he wouldn't be responsible for it) and it would 12 years before there was another Dem president.
I'm so relieved he isn't running for president. I think he'd singlehandedly destroy the Democratic party and seal this country's future for the fascists.

Susan Nunes: He simply comes across poorly, and he isn't running on his true record.
And what "true record" is that, exactly? As a Vermonter who voted for him for a decade, and also votes Republican, Libertarian, and Progressive, I found Dean to be the best politician possible: one who has strong convictions, follows through, and doesn't resort to BS. He runs on a strong record I am proud of (e.g., strengthening the Doctor Dinosaur program providing healthcare to 96% of VT's children, Civil Unions, income tax sunset, etc).
I have to admit, I've never contributed to a campaign before, but I've drunk the Dean kool-aid of late. I'm excited to attend his official declaration in Burlington in a couple weeks:

Well --- I read all the comments, so I guess I'll add my two-bits.
I give a buck or two to Dean every now and then, as the urge strikes me. I'm not holding out a lot of hope just yet -- been stung before, so I'm a tad wary.
I worry that Dean does not look too good on TV yet. A little severe I think. Points his finger, doesn't easily smile. Not good, because it seems like every vote for President these last thirty or forty years has been won by whoever looked the best on TV, never mind what they had to say or how it was later spun.
Clinton looked teriffic. If he had been an actual Democrat, that would have been even better. But at least he wasn't a neo-nazi, and it was fun to watch the nut jobs go balistic over his successes. I'd love to have him back ---- if I can't have Dean I mean. But that won't happen.
As for the rest of the Dem field, ehhhhhhhhhhh. But just to stick it to the Foxers and GOPers and the rest of the Wabbid Wite, I'd love it if the Dems nominated Al Sharpton and Carol Braun --------- AND THEY WON!!
Oh well -- alternate Universe.
By the way, down here in Austin I tell everyone that I'm a DEAD Yellow Dog Democrat. But damn, I'd vote for a cockroach before I'd vote for Bush. At least a cockroach is honest.
Thank you for your time.
