I'MMA LET YOU FINISH

GravatarThis seems to be Shrub a Dub's forte. Like the commision to spend 10 Billion researching hydrogen fuel cells. It apeases the conservationalists but scientists say the hudrogen fuel cells will be worse for the environment because of leakage (hydrogen goes strait up after all and all fuel lines leak, no matter how well built). He looks good for the cameras while his buddies undoe every concession behind the scenes.

GravatarWhat's Bush going to do? Stand up in front of the American people and say that he wanted to pass these things but Congress wouldn't let him? What a laugh!

It's a political ad waiting to happen for the Democrats--he can get the votes for tax cuts for the rich but he can't deliver the same votes on child tax credits? Do we need to elect a president whose own party won't do what he asks of them?

GravatarAnd Bush would set-up DeLay in heartbeat too, Trent Lott style. Someday DeLay will still be a congressman but just not House Leader.

Bush doesn't have any friends that aren't disposable, and you could just ask Paul O'Neil about that fact.

GravatarActually...

What's Bush going to do? Stand up in front of the American people and say that he wanted to pass these things but Congress wouldn't let him? What a laugh!

Bush has done some truly nasty things and yes he would do this too.

That was kind of Lambert's point.

Gravatar"Bush has done some truly nasty things and yes he would do this too."

I wasn't aware of that!

My point was that it should be easy to counter. Which would leave Bush in the position of having to jettison DeLay, I'll grant. However, I don't think the wingnuts would put up with that, *especially* after what happned to Lott. Hell, I don't think DeLay would put up with it either. DeLay may be many things but he doesn't strike me as the sort to fall on his sword for Bush like Lott did.

GravatarRemember: Bush is a uniter, not a divider.

As far as being easy to counter, how about this: Bush promised a tax cut to everybody who pays taxes. Now, did we get what he promised, or didn't we?

Of course, he meant a tax cut to everybody who pays income taxes. But then, we didn't get that, really, either.

Once again, I say tax cuts for those who vote. Let's get turnout to 98% and then we'll see about Mr. Bush's "popularity".
