Schwarzanasshole has a huge reputation for backstabbing friends and pushing under the bus those who helped him get where he is.

I never thought I'd hear myself think it but let the tabloids roll!
Let 'em roll over The Terminator.
It is very risky for him if the dirt - the mysogny, low-grade sexual assaults ("womanizing" according to The Terminator), the allegations of drug use - damage his image.
You see, he might not just lose the election, easily conceivable in a multi-page ballot filled with names, but the remainder of his film career.
Nobody wants to fork out 10 bucks to watch a creepy, misogynistic, low-grade sexual predator act out violent scenario after violent scenario in films. People will get the creeps when they wonder what is going on under the hood in The Terminator's Brain.

I care more that California have a governor who can balance the budget and restore some faith to the system. Be that person a Republican or Democrat means little to me.
However, I doubt that person is Schwarzenegger, although I do get the impression that, as Republicans go, he isn't yet in the "so far right I've left reality behind" mode that is currently running the party.

We entered 2001, with a huge federal budget surplus and so Social Security and other social benefit benefit programs were secure. We had money to spend during any recession. Then, we sliced taxes for the richest Americans and wound up with a deficit that will be about $900 billion this year and next, and we have lost more than 3 million jobs since that 2001 tax cut that was supposed to create jobs. Phooey.
After buying the signatures to start this electoral nonsense, Issa just announced that he is pulling out of the race.

The performance on the "Tonight Show" was scary for the audience response. I only hope it is not an indicator. The man has endless publicity at no expense.
Ditto on the "breaking news" as it was relayed via the brown nose and lips of Sean Hannity on Fox... Even Anne Coulter and Matt Drudge, awakened from their underworld lairs for an appearane on H&C, had questions about Arnold's abilities...
But Sean brushed them all aside and basically said this was the greatest thing that had ever happened to America:
"I just heard this man making his speech, and he thanked America, and he said he was grateful for being adopted by us, and I think it was a moment for all Americans who heard it and I think this is a very big and special moment and drool drool slobber slobber suck suck suck slurp slurp...."
Consensus was this muscular man, who has never held an office, and who even Hannity admitted has no public record... who's policy we can only guess at and who may not be able to balance his checkbook as far as we know.... would have a cakewalk to the job.
It's a ridiculous thing. If Arnold loves America so much, he should have more regrets about fucking our Democratic system over like it's one of the cheesy badguys he dispenses with a wisecrack and a smirk.
Sense and order in the electoral process? Hasta la Vista, baby.

Even if he's naturalized, isn't Ahnold techincally not eligible for public office?
I admire him as a bodybuilder, I have a hard time beleiving anything that comes out of anyone's mouth these days though, perhaps we should leave politics to the politicians? Then again, it is Cali, and this fits them just right, chaos and celebrity stuff; also as far as politicians go they can take a hike, so maybe Ahnold can pump up the nature of office... ahh forget it. Who knows, i don't think ahnold does. Is it possible they're setting him up a'la Reagan to fill Shrub's worthless shoes when he is impeached?

No you can't be a California voter and sport such cavalier attitude "I care for someone who could balance the budget....etc., etc., whether republican or democrat" Only a very naive person will say this. Don't you know that the screwing over of California is one of Bush's acts of revenge. He won't forgive the state for not voting for him. We can't let the rethugs do this to our state, we can't let a republican in office here. It's not just the fucking budget...its more important than that it's the raping of the environment, the destruction of the coast line and the forests...is someone so stupid not to see the writing on the wall if a republican gets the governorship?
As for SchwarzeAsshole, his father was an SS officer in Hitler's Germany, and there are lots of nice pics of Arnold nude, smoking a joint and having his head nudge between a black woman's breasts...

Huffington's star power has been eclipsed by Schwarzenegger's. Schwarzenegger is guaranteed press coverage just because he's Schwarzenegger, but nobody ever paid $10 to see two hours of Arianna Huffington except for diehard Republicans/Democrats/Friends of John-Roger.
This might be a blueprint for future third party candidacies (I'm paying particular attention because of that): namely, that no one's going to give a damn unless you have a celebrity frontman. Greens, call Hollywood.

Yes, you can't be VP unless you meet the requirements for Prez. (Amendment XII)

So how does that make Huffington different than Schwarzenegger, then? Huffington has as much experience in government as Schwarzenegger, which is zero -- unless you could the proxy campaigns that she ran for her husband. Indeed, all of Mike's ideas while a congressman might have been HER ideas, as it's well known that Mike stopped talking whenever Arianna drank a glass of water.
Outside of that, the major candidates are Bill "Enron" Simon and Cruz "Three Strikes" Bustamente. Compared to those three, Schwarzenegger's chances are as good as anyone else's.

Cruz Bustamante is charismatic and has appeal, besides he's a hispanic in a state that has many, or in a state that spoke Spanish long before English.
Three strikes doesn't bother a lot of people, it only bothers those who may get affected by this and chances are they're not registered to vote anyway.
Now tell me about the chances of this aging asshole, a Z movie star. He even speaks with ZZZZ's, sibilant sounds he could never erased from his German accented speech. It was becaue of the huge gap on his front teeth...he got that taken care of but could lose the speech impediment. If you monkey think that SchwarzeArsch has a chance you don't know California.

1. I decided to check Google and run the phrases "Cruz Bustamente" and "charisma" together. Of course, you might know California politics better than I do, but the only times those two phrases come together is when the LACK of charisma of Gray Davis is discussed.
2. People might care more about the "three strikes" issue than you think they do. Anyone interested in "drug war" issues or poverty is bound to be interested in them. As far as I can tell, Bustamente's solution to crime is "build more prisons". This is the man who wanted to execute a seventh-grader. Then again, maybe people are okay with that in California.
3. As for a matchup of Bustamente vs. Arnold in charisma, that's a route Bustamente might not want to take. Like it or not, Bustamente and Davis are joined hip to hip and anyone who wants Davis out can just chant "Davis/Bustamente administration" over and over until the two are linked.
Put it this way. Davis is SO unpopular in California that if it were pure Schwarzenegger vs. Davis, right now, Arnold would probably win. I don't see why progressives don't wake up and see that Arnold is the major threat. They prefer to see him as a stupid goofball. They preferred to see Bush as a stupid goofball, and they got their clocks cleaned in November.
If you don't solve the Arnold problem, you go down to defeat in 61 days and you lose the state with the most electoral votes to the hated Republicans. Why are people just blowing off this problem? I don't get it.
tinheart |

From an article by John Fund in the hated WSJ:
"Mr. Schwarzenegger needs conservatives because, should Mr. Davis be recalled, the new governor will be whoever wins a plurality of the vote in the simultaneous election to succeed him. He has assembled the team behind former GOP Gov. Pete Wilson's four statewide wins. They've hired 50 people and a preliminary campaign budget is $35 million. Mr. Wilson is bullish on the race saying, ''Arnold has a total focus and clarity of vision that would impress voters.'' "
Once again, we're underestimating this man. Can anyone post data on budgets or websites, places to make contributions? Does California accept out-of-state contributions? What can people who AREN'T Californians do to make sure Arnold gets "terminated"?
tinheart |

Here's a few words from Richard Roeper, movie critic alongside Roger Ebert and a columnist of the Chicago Sun-Times:
"Like just about everyone in the media, I was stunned by Arnold Schwarzenegger's announcement Wednesday evening that he WILL be a candidate for governor of California after all. I really thought that if Ah-nold was going to become "The Running Man," he wouldn't have done it via a taped appearance on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno." Kudos to Leno for getting the scoop, but why didn't Arnold opt for a live announcement and press conference with wall-to-wall coverage, held at a more deadline-friendly hour in a more serious venue?
But now I have a question for all the conservatives, in California and across the nation, who believe Schwarzenegger will make a fine candidate: If you think this actor's views should be taken seriously, then you must agree that the opinions of Sean Penn, George Clooney, Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon should be heard and respected as well, right? Because if your answer is "no," that would mean you want to hear only from those Hollywood figures whose opinions agree with yours--which sounds rather un-American to me."
