I'MMA LET YOU FINISH

GravatarMy favorite aspect of the 9/11 commission came at the beginning, when Kissinger was going to head it. I thought Hitchens's head would explode.

GravatarWho cares what John Cole is upset about? Anybody defending the notion the Clintons are 'worse Americans' than Tim McVeigh isn't worthy of a second thought.

The 9-11 Commission is a joke; anything involving John Lehman can only be considered a joke in very bad taste.

GravatarAt this point, another scandal would be bad for the country, after all the scandals that Clinton caused. This is a time for coming together and covering up, not partisan bickering.

GravatarLOL, I figured the "balloon juice" url for Cole's website was a take on the "trailers of mass destruction", now revealed to be "balloon juice" factories.

GravatarAt this point, another scandal would be bad for the country, after all the scandals that Clinton caused. This is a time for coming together and covering up, not partisan bickering.

Best joke of the day.

Nice try, asshole.

GravatarJoke's on you WTF, I think young repub was kidding.

Gravatar"At this point, another scandal would be bad for the country, after all the scandals that Clinton caused. This is a time for coming together and covering up, not partisan bickering."

I have heard that same argument applied to Iran-Contra.
Without Clinton, of course.

Gravataranother scandal would be bad for the country

Au contraire, mon ami (that's French for I'm a liberal patriot who loves the USA and American values)

A scandal that weakens the Rove administration will strengthen the United States.

Education, health care, the budget, the environment, international relations, national security - you name the topic, Rove is working against the American people. OK, 99.9% of the American people. They're working hard for the money of the others.

GravatarI'm certain Young Republican is joking (all the scandals Clinton caused? This is a time for coming together and covering up?!!)

Still, YR, you should turn the sarcasm dial a little higher next time. Our bullshit detectors are overloaded, as is our patience.

GravatarJade Gold, apparently you can not read. I NEVER said I thought the Clintons were worse than Tim McVeigh, and, in fact, I told all the people who would even put the Clintons on the same list that they were morons:

Bill and Hillary are sewer trout, but they aren't the worst Americans to ever live- not by a longshot. Claiming they belong on the list makes you guys sound like the Daily Kos or Oliver Willis or Atrios or the Democrat Underground talking about Bush. I mean folks, some perspective, please. John Wayne Gacy dressed up as a clown, seduced young boys, then strangled them while raping them. He did this to a few dozen boys. He didn't make the list, but Hillary Clinton got ten votes and Bill got 15? Jeebus.

Quit lying about me. Besides, you clearly did not understand how the poll worked. Hawkins asked 40 people to list their 20 Worst Americans, and people submitted them in no particular order. People did not rank people in order of evilness, thus, it is entirely possible for someone to vote for both Clintons AND MCVeigh, all the while thinking McVeigh was clearly the most evil.

Still, I think it is moronic that more people would vote for either Clinton than did McVeigh, but you are simply confused about the poll (NO ONE said Clinton is worse than McVeigh) and lying about me. You can stop anytime.

GravatarIf ever there was a time for partisan bickering, it's now. Bicker some sense into 'em, that's what I say.

(I just got this link from Ain't It Cool News, but I probably should've kept that to myself.)

**********************************************

"Nice to see you, to see you... nice!"

GravatarJohn Cole, you said Bill and Hillary were "sewer trout"?

You say this, understanding what has happened to this country in the last three years?

Or don't you get it?

Wow, what an interesting mix of people we have in this country.

GravatarOh, I get it: this is some more "When other people are mistaken, they are lying but when I make a mistake I'm merely mistaken."
Great. I seems to work for W, but then he goes back and repeats what he just claimed was a mistake.

GravatarBy the way, John Cole, I couldn't help but notice your rant about the guy who CHOSE to go without air conditioning in his home. WTF is your problem? This guy wasn't proposing that you or anyone else do without - it was simply his personal choice for his own home.

Many of us in the more tropical heat zones of the US elect to go without AC until it gets really hot - by which I mean, over 90 - because we know once we hit the triple digits, we're going to have $300 AC bills (and even then, only be able to cool our homes down to the mid-80s). For a lot of folks, it's an economic issue.

Sounds to me like you're just a wuss who wilts when the mercury hits 80.

GravatarSome days I wish my fucking head would explode just to relieve the agony of living through this shit. But then I'd miss the 3 day celebratory bender when we throw these brown-shirt-fucks off the Potomac come January 2005.

GravatarJennifer- It isn't the heat in WV that kills you- it is the humidity.

What I hated about that piece was the waste of the precious real estate in the NY Times. Hell, I would rather read Atrios rant about Bush in those columm inches over that nonsense.

GravatarYes- I think they are sewer trout- I also noted that I thought Bill had done a number of good things, and that Hillary has been a pretty moderate Senator since elected.

You guys always talk about the Clenis- it is possible to not like a lot of the things Bush is doing and still dislike the Clintons. You are aware of that, right?

GravatarIf I were you, Atrios, I would not worry too much about what the right wing thinks of you. We're all behind you. Keep fighting the good fight.

GravatarYR, you are one of the gems on this board. Your exploration into the realms of irony is a journey I find divine. Don't let a few folks who can't grasp the concept deter you.

GravatarYes- I think they are sewer trout- I also noted that I thought Bill had done a number of good things, and that Hillary has been a pretty moderate Senator since elected..

I think a lot of people feel this way, though I don't understand it. (The sewer trout part, I mean.)

When people talk about not liking the Clintons, it always seems to involve an enormous dislike of the person & his wife. Calling him a murderer, drug dealer, and other ridiculous accusations after every investigation of his professional life turned up zilch.

Now, when we (and I'm not including MWO & BartCop in this group) bitch about Bush it is usually within the realm of his policies & the way he runs his administration and his secret & suspicious past (e.g., ties with Saudis that are never seriously addressed by Mr. Bush). Those are substantiative issues that people should care about, not personal invective thrown at the man.

And we're put on the same level as the Clinton bashers? I don't think so.

I don't hate George W. Bush - I've never met the man. But I do hate what he's doing to my country. That's why I want to see him gone.

GravatarExcuse me for this strange question:

Is Jamie Gorelick related in any way to Kenny Gorelick? (a.k.a. Kenny G - lite jazz saxaphonist?)

Pardon my curiousity. Chris

Gravatari sure hope youn repuke is kidding. of course the bush scandals are THE ONLY SCANDALS.

and hot is hot, yeah, humidity is uncomfy, but 124 is just HOT. but the i am here in WI enjoyingspring/fallish 70's, instead of the usual 90+ and 80% humidity.

GravatarThere is a simple explanation for all of this conspiratorial nonsense:Goldstein did it!.

GravatarBill and Hillary are sewer trout and what does that make Bush? A sewer rat???

Iraq is just one be f---ing contract making lie. Bush is meeting Privately With Top Fundraisers I don't think Clinton ever did that not at least with Republicans watching every move he Clinton made. Is Iraq going to the highest bidder now. Bush really is quite the piece of shit. Men die and Bush makes backroom deals.

NO one single person in the office of the president has ever acted as ugly as does Bush and his company.

And now you're fellow Republicans seem to know when to bail. Bush lies and they are making an honest decision not be a part of a constant growing lie. Cole has NO morality and stays and to help Bush make up lies so what does that make Cole?

Something worse than sewer trout.

GravatarSewer trout? Whats a sewer trout? And whose turning our trout streams into sewers? Or is this one of those blaming the trout things. If those damn fish weren't so fussy about what they swim around in Cole could open a trout farm in a vat of acid. Stupid trout, denying Cole an economic opportunity. Maybe the White House, with the good will and support of the Chemical Manufacturers Association, can guide an EPA investigation into the matter. Yes, that would be the proper scientific "wise use" route. In the meantime Cole, enjoy those PCBs in your broiled salmon.

GravatarZz z z zZz Z z z z z z

huh?

Did somebody wake me up for this?

Sheesh.

Cole doesn't even rate mild nightmare status. Much less this level of engagement.

Nighty night.

GravatarSomeone reads Brownshirt J's blog?

Why???

GravatarWest Virginia? WEST VIRGINIA? Humidity? HAH! We INVENTED humidity down here in the mid-South! We're sitting right here on top of that giant sinkhole known as the Gulf of Mexico with prevailing winds blowing all that mugginess right up in here. Try 80% (& up) relative humidity plus 95 degrees and higher for 4 months or more per year. You walk out the door to start your car, and by the time the AC kicks in, your head is wet and you can feel the sweat running down your back. I mow the lawn, and by the time I come in, my clothes are literally soaked. They have a "heat wave" in the low 90s in Chicago, and people start dropping like flies. We live with that shit for about a third of the year, and the only folks dying from it here are the high school kids with dumbass coaches who insist on practicing - in full uniform - during the middle of August.

Yeah, I've been to Phoenix, so I can imagine how hot Iraq is - but it can't be much worse than it is here when the temp is over 105 and the humidity is pegged at 85-90%. But at least folks here are acclimated to it. I can't imagine how the poor soldiers from Michigan, Maine, and other cooler locales are coping with it over there. And with inadequate water rations, to boot. Thanks for the masterful pre-war planning, Bushco.

GravatarI just wonder why the Democrats didn't scramble their planes in time to stop the Republicans from covering it all up?

GravatarLee Hamilton, now anyone think the truth will prevail?

from a talk by Robert Parry on trying to get people to listen to the overwhelming evidence about Iran Contra.

http://www.webcom.com/~lpease/ co...parryspeech.htm
So this was what was happening by the Summer of '86, when Barger and I finally did a story - we had 24 sources by this point - it was getting silly, you know? You know, it wasn't like two sources, or three sources, we were up to 24, and some of them named, and we did this story in June of '86 where we laid a lot of it out - we didn't have all of it, I'll grant - we didn't know about Secord's flights, but we had Rob Owen, and we had Jack Singlaub, and we had how the intermediaries were moving the weapons and so forth.

So we get to this point, and we put this story out, and finally Congress - which had been very afraid of touching this - the democrats were extremely timid - finally Lee Hamilton, who was then Chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee takes our little story with the rest of the Intelligence Committee over to the White House and they sit down with Ollie North and they say, "Colonel North - we have this story that says you're doing these things which are kind of illegal, uh, what about it?" He said, "It's not true," they said "Thank you," and they went back to Capitol Hill. And I get a call from one of Hamilton's aides, and he told me, he said - I'll never forget this, because it was probably my worst moment in the whole Iran Contra Scandal - I get this call from a Democratic aide who tells me that Lee Hamilton has looked into my story, and he had a choice between believing these honorable men at the White House or my sources and it wasn't a close call.

Gravatarit amazes me that they even try this shit.....having Kean involved is just beyond the pale....almost as funny as Kissinger heading the thing.....
Someone wake me up....

GravatarIs a "sewer trout" anything like a "Coney Island whitefish"? That is, to say, a used condom?

If so, the originator of that phrase owes the Clintons an abject apology.

I thought the reprehensible Dan Burton was only person low enough to compare upstanding civil servants to free-floating rubbers. It's sad to discover that such depravity isn't confined to the US Congress.

GravatarTom Kean was on a C-SPAN call-in and someone asked about whether the commission would look into the 5 Israelis (who turned out to be run by a known Mossad agent) spotted on top of a roof in Jersey City, videotaping the towers going down and celebrating. Kean's answer: I never heard anything about that.

Ray LaHood, a member of the Congressional Committee that "investigated," was on a call-in. Same question to him; same answer that Kean gave. Another caller told him he must have been living in a bunker not to know about the 5 dancing Israelis.

And notice, their answer is always that they don't know anything about it. They don't ask the caller for more information; they don't know anything about it and they will not know anything about it NO MATTER WHAT.

GravatarCarol. Nobody knows anything about that, because it's makes NO SENSE. All the Israeli stories require you to believe at that the Mossad is an all powerful super-competent force of evil and a completely bufoonish easy to spot joke AT THE SAME TIME. But both of these can only be true in the mind of a fool, not in the world we live in.

GravatarThe one thing that bugs me about some of the far left, is their..well..absolutle childishness on the whole I/P issue.

They completely miss the reality of the situation. Which is that the Israilis DO go too far, but they are also in a very bad situation. Frankly, trying to pin them for the evils in the world is silly.

I guess what worries me is the lack of compassion for the situation they are in. I mean..they are being targeted for removal off the face of the planet. That is NO lie.

GravatarGorelick probably should not be on the commission. Why not replace him/her with Republican Warren Rudman, who was a choice of the 9/11 families, but was turned down by the WH.

GravatarYes, its so much more believable that a guy in a cave in Afghanistan directed the 9/11 hijackings than the Mossad ("By deception you will do war" -- or whatever the exact words are for their motto).

Who benefited? Who got the US to take down their perceived biggest threat? Israel, thats who. Israel, the country that has over 200 nuclear warheads that US presidents don't call "Weapons of Mass Destruction" because we just pretend they don't exist.

So what the heck WERE a bunch of Israeli ex military run by a known Mossad agents doing celebrating as the towers came down? Nobody in our government wants to know.

Why were so many of the hijackers using stolen passports? Why would Arabs disguise their identity with Arab identities? Its still up on bbc.com search "hijackers alive and well"

GravatarKarmakin,
Israel has a history of false flag operations, document forgeries, spying, assassination, weapons of mass destruction, human rights violations, preemptive war, kidnapping, disregard of UN resolutions, massacres, Geneva convention violations. The whole megillah. Thats why the rest of the world has turned against them. They used to have other allies besides the US but no more.
