I'MMA LET YOU FINISH

wow! so many pills, so little time!

Damn. That's funny.

-if some evil liberal were in his position-

You mean someone like John F. Kennedy who had an addiction to prescription-drug painkillers? Opps, forgot - Kennedy would be sympatico with Rush on nearly everything - tax cuts, anti-Communist, a hawk -nevermind.....

Loving it Atrios!

I'm very impressed wth the Republican fondness for JFK-era tax rates.

Bring them on, as they say.

GravatarYeah, everybody knows JFK had a soft spot for pimple-assed draft dodgers,
he said so daily on his radio show.

Gravatarsure anon, jfk's use is comparable to rush's trafficking in hillbilly herion! suuurrre!

GravatarAnon- winner of the Dean poster contest.

GravatarI don't give a shit if Rush is doing hillbilly heroin. It's the hypocrisy of one of these conservative fucks who supports draconian drug laws doing hillbilly heroin that confirms Rush's cretinism and makes him fair game.

Fuck you Rush you drug-addicted loser. I hope you do lots and lots of mandatorily minimum hard time, motherfucker.

Republicans are such complete and total hypocrites when it comes to their supposed family values. I went to school with a huge drug freak who later ended up working in high positions for right-wing extremist nutcases and other Republicans whom you've all heard of on Capitol Hill. He personally worked on mandataory minimum legislation - even though mnost of his friends were still drug freaks themselves -- because he had degenerated into a hypocrite. The sad thing is, he was a much better guy when he was a drug freak than After he became a conservative family values hypocrite.

Gravatar-JFK-era tax rates-

That was my observation - not intended as anon, young Atrios. And the item was tax cuts - which as you've pointed out, Democrats hate and as evidenced by the now fallen-by-the wayside Howie Dean demand to raise taxes on both the poor and middle class, lol.

Gravataregg using that fuzzy math again

GravatarCute.
But, I have to blame the culture.
I have a Remeron get the pill in the bottle, you know those kids toys with water and little balls you need to shake into something, game as well as a Paxil meditation fountain.
These nefarious little items are handed out to doctors and mental health professionals.
I know a shitload of people I grew up with who are now pill addicts. They need the little bastards everyday.
They will never get help, and continue on this way, well, forever.
But to me, other than Rush being a hypocrite, I don't care if he self medicates, as long as he does nothing to endanger anyone else.
It is your right to kill yourself anyway you choose, whether it is eating meat or shooting heroin.
As long as you do it without harming anyone else, fine.
Should we list all the public figures who have been popped for substance abuse?
That said, he and Bennet deserve as much lampooning as possible for being hyupocrites.
By the way, anyone see this Pat Robertson thing?
http://www.nydailynews.com/news/...7p- 110883c.html
Robertson said Limbaugh should not be criticized for saying that black Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb benefits from "social concern." Freeman - who is black - also got a slide from the media, Robertson said.

"He started off playing a chauffeur in 'Driving Miss Daisy,' and then they elevated him to head of the CIA and then they elevated him to President and in his last role they made him God," Robertson said on the "700 Club." "I just wonder, isn't Rush Limbaugh right to question the fact, is he that good an actor or not?"

GravatarInnocent until proven guilty? That never stopped Limbaugh before.

He has been (is?) in possession of various narcotics that require prescriptions from a doctor.

If Limbaugh was a rapper, or a professional athlete (heaven forbid, a quarterback), do you think he would not devote his entire program to the "alleged" addict? He would not miss any opportunity to remind everyone about the race of the accused and trumpet every rumor. He would provide updates in every radio program. And he would interpret the trial for all of his dittoheads.

He should Rush to Arnold for a spot in "an addiction place."

Oh, the irony. He has hired the same attorney who represented Wm. Kennedy Smith. Are there any transcripts available of Limbaugh's condemnations of trial lawyers who manage to "get off" rich clients?

GravatarJFK thought the top marginal rate should be 70%. Sounds good to me. By your logic, the tax rate should be zero.

Gravataryeah, I had the robertson think a couple days ago, not sure whY i didn't run it..

Gravatar-the tax rate should be zero-

Certainly the Kennedys would love it!

Gravatar-If Limbaugh was a rapper-

He likely would have shot and killed a police officer or two in an attempt to avoid capture and certainly wouln't express willingness to cooperate with the authorities. Good comparison, yup indeedy!

GravatarI missed the epidemic of rappers slaughtering police officers.

GravatarSure, Rush deserves lampooning ala Bill Bennett. But unlike Rush, Bennet was all about being Mr. Family Values Judge. Never cared for the guy.

JFK, however, was on a questionable cocktail of not just pills but Steroids and methamphetamines, I believe. Oh, and there's the whole leader of the free world making big decisions with his finger on the nuke button with a buzz on. A bit more dangerous than Rush's finger on the microphone in a studio with a buzz.

All I can say is that Rush ought to get his hush money back from that maid. Breach of contract, seems to me.

Gravatar"Oh, and there's the whole leader of the free world making big decisions with his finger on the nuke button with a buzz on. A bit more dangerous than Rush's finger on the microphone in a studio with a buzz."

Exactly. And that's why we think Bush should go back on the wagon.

GravatarFrom Rush's 35 undeniable truths

There's a simple way to solve the crime problem: obey the law; punish those who do not.

If you commit a crime, you are guilty.

Compassion is no substitute for justice.

GravatarThat was my observation - not intended as anon, young Atrios.

Cripes, there goes egg again trying to portray himself as someone older than the 19 year old he really is. Hint, people around the age you're pretending to be don't go out of their way to draw attention to it in such a juvenile manner, they relate personal experiences and the reader can draw their own conclusions. Now grow up and go away, you're annoying the adults (I know, I know, that's all he lives for).

GravatarApparently JFK could handle his drugs since he successfully led us through the Cuban Missile Crisis. Hell, methamphetamine would come in quite handy when you're pulling multiple all-nighters saving the world.

GravatarMy head just exploded over that Robertson quote.

I give up. Where do you begin with such a monstrous contortion of illogic?

GravatarI'm very impressed wth the Republican fondness for JFK-era tax rates.

Bring them on, as they say.

Atrios

Along with the deductions for chinchilla ranches, and such?

GravatarWill you people ever grow the fuck up?

GravatarSome genius on another thread said GOP stands for Gropers On Painkillers but I think Gropers on Pills scans better.

Gravatar-the whole leader of the free world making big decisions with his finger on the nuke button with a buzz on-

Yeah, but selective outrage takes into account that JFK had a "D" after his name. Much the same as how actualincidents that involve lawsuits re:sexual harrassment/groping are perfectly acceptable if there's a "D" after the Prez perp's name. Then a "job for a job" is a fine and dandy M.O. for advancement, lol.

GravatarThats the most fun I've had playing pacman since I dropped that micro dot back in, oh a long time ago...

GravatarJust the fact that the story broke is what is great concerning Rush. He is a hypocritical windbag who does not care about a lot of facts. His past hatred spewed shows does not care whether a person will be presented innocent or not. If it helps the rightie case, he will spew his thoughts on whatever the case might be. He does not wait for the facts in a case, so why should anyone give him the benefit of the doubt, now that he is the case? What goes around comes around and he is getting his comeuppence. I hope he has a lot of problems from this. If it is true, his hearing was damaged through his stupidity. Show no mercy! That is the problem with the Lefties... they want their facts first... however, with the current righties, it does not work. They spew their hatred or propaganda which gets into the media and the sheeple eat it up. When the other side tries to explain or prove innocence, it is too late because the sheeple have already made up their minds. Yes, it makes us more like them, but the thing people need to be concerned about right now, is to get bushco out of office. I don't care how! Some of his right wing media nuts have fallen off the tree and have gotten bruised - can we pray the same happens to that stupid ass, Ann Coulter?

GravatarBy the way, if I don't make sense through my typing, it isn't because of hillbilly heroin, it is because I have worked my full time job all week long and my part time job last weekend and every night since a week ago thursday. I finally have a day off - today!!! and haven't yet caught up on my sleep.

GravatarThe world of media race-relations according to Pat "Diamond" Robertson:

1.) Charles Taylor is a good Christian leader being persecuted for his religious beliefs by the secular humanists.

2.) McNabb has been riding on the media's love of black people.

3.) Morgan Freedman isn't a good enough actor to play God.

Yeah, but that Charlton Heston, man, what an actor! He just becomes the character so completely -- like when he plays Moses, it's like you'd never know it was the same guy as in Omega Man or Earthquake!

Gravataroldwhitelady, I hear ya'. It makes no sense to me to try to keep your blows above the belt and fight fair when the other guy keeps kicking you in the teeth.

Rush is a stupid, racist, narrow-minded hypocrite who's only begining to get a little taste of what he deserves. He's been a boorish, bellowing cheerleader for redneck idiocy for far too long. His addiction serves him right the way he's done his damndest to demonize poor people - especially poor minorities - as a bunch of lazy, greedy drug abusers. He's one of the ones that put out the memes that led to the so-called "welfare reform" that takes poor parents away from their kids so they can work 14-hour days at two different jobs and still not make ends meet. He's almost singlehandedly responsible for the revival of what seemed to be long-dead (or at least dying) stereotypes of urban blacks as nothing more than morally bankrupt welfare cheats. He helped establish the myth of the "all sex is rape" so-called "feminazi" out to emasculate the white American male and destroy the family. He scrapes the gutter for his material, so if you ask me, he deserves to be dragged through it over this.

I'm sick of liberals standing around trying to keep "the discourse" elevated when creeps like Rush would never deign to refute their opposition with facts when a smear or an insult will do.

It's not schadenfreude, it's a love of seeing justice - a higher justice - get served. If nothing else - if he skates on criminal charges or somehow doesn't have to actually pay for what he's done - he's met the hell of addiction, and I don't think anyone will ever be able to look at him again and not think "pills"...

GravatarEgg my love, your talking points are seriously outdated. Please respond to your nearest Re-Education Center ASAP, you're making us look more stupid than is needed in order to make the proles underestimate us.

And bring an inflatable pillow or three.

GravatarMoniCA, tell us what you really think. Go ahead, we can take it.

:D

Gravatar-He's one of the ones that put out the memes that led to the so-called "welfare reform" that takes poor parents away from their kids so they can work 14-hour days at two different jobs and still not make ends meet.-

Hear, hear! Why, Oh, why did Bush support and sign that bill? Oh wait.....nevermind....

GravatarHey, uhhh, egg? You do realize I was over five years ago, right? And you do realize that not ALL Democrats pray daily to the shrine of the Clenis the way you schmucks do to Fearless Leader, right?

Of course you don't, that would require a little thing called LIVING IN THE PRESENT AND REALITY.

Though I do admit, I would love to live in your little fantasy world. Thinking hurts sometimes, maybe I should get a lobotomy and join your ranks.

Gravataregg's logic:

rap music = black = cop-killing thug

Nice. Can we just ban this fool already?

GravatarHey, I like clay pigeons.

GravatarRappers might not actually kill cops, but their music CLEARLY influences the youth to do so.

If only I hadn't listened to Kenny Rogers as a young man, I might have known when to fold them.

Anybody got any quarters? I'm getting a jones.

Gravataregg,

tell me, how does it feel to be a complete fucking tool?

Your hubris is only outmatched by your petulant ignorance. To me, you embody the very essence of the worst America has to offer.

Frankly, I'm ashamed of my nation every time I read one of your posts, or similar nonsense flying around on the radio dial.

You make me sick.

Gravatar1998, don't forget that egg would only have been 12 then.

Now he's only 15.

GravatarJP, I know you know this, but he's really not worth it. It's easy to see this tit as some sort of reincarnated Hitler Youth, but even those kids had decent educations, and at least had the balls to emerge from their basement dwellings once in a while and burn some books. Egg and his ilk are more content to nod in stuporous agreement to whatever talk radio bile is being spewed to them at any given time, all the while desperately searching for a fellow dittohead to reinforce their pathetic worldview, while the rest of us with some semblance of mental health try to conceal our disgust at being part of the same species as them.

Of course, I believe in evolution, so I comfort myself with the idea that they're as comical to us as the cro-mags probably were to their successors. Thank the non-existent invisible bearded super-hero for Charles Darwin.

Get familiar with the word "oblivion", Eggy dear. I have a feeling that very soon now you and your lot will be getting very cozy with it.

Gravatarthanks atrios, that was better than pack-man.

Gravatar

Oh, and there's the whole leader of the free world making big decisions with his finger on the nuke button with a buzz on. A bit more dangerous than Rush's finger on the microphone in a studio with a buzz.

JFK had Addison's disease, which would have resulted in the destruction of his adrenal glands. He would have needed steroid therapy as replacement. Don't know anything about the meth, though, ... except Addison's does fatigue you pretty badly ... maybe therapies have changed since then?

Gravatar"Oh, and there's the whole leader of the free world making big decisions with his finger on the nuke button with a buzz on."

Yeah, kinda like the whole leader of the free world making big decisions with his finger on the button while he grows INCREASINGLY SENILE like Regan?

Or how about the whole leader of the free world making big decisions with his finger on the button while he grows INCREASINGLY PARANOID AND IRRATIONAL AND THEN EVENTUALLY IS FORCED TO RESIGN HIS OFFICE IN DISGRACE like Nixon?

How about that?

Hmm... a veteran who was wounded, with a lot of physical problems, known to have to wear a backbrace most of the time (it ironically held him upright after being shot the first time, making him a better target for his assasin than he would've been had he not been wearing it, but I'm sure you're glad for that).

Yeah, JFK's just like that fat fuck Rush eating his way through thousands of Oxycontins while he makes himself go deaf and in the process loses his appetite, resulting in typical junkie extreme weight loss. Yup. It's just like that.

GravatarMoniCA -

Thanks for the riff. It was priceless.

GravatarAtrios,

I take a different tack than you. WWRD lowers us to his standards. It may be fun but, among other things, it's not terribly effective.

Torture Limbaugh with liberal understanding and compassion. By refusing to play his game, the bankruptcy of his morals is made all that more stark and his humiliation greater.

Understanding and expressing sympathy for Limbaugh is *not* being a wuss. It is a forceful assertion of our values. It is at least as aggressive as ridiculing him and it has the added advantage of being consistent with our general position on drugs, namely addiction is a disease not a moral failing, etc.

Gravatar"Torture Limbaugh with liberal understanding and compassion."

Oh, yeah, that'll work!

Gravatar"Understanding and expressing sympathy for Limbaugh is *not* being a wuss..."

Jesus Christ, words fail me. Let's all continue to lick the far right's jackboots while they kick our teeth down our throats, why don't we? It's worked SO well for the Democrats thus far, hasb't it?

GravatarMake the case continuously that the level of sympathy, compassion and legal recrimination for failures in personal behavior should be commensurate with the level of those attributes that you promote towards others along the same lines. A kind of good for the gander assessment.

That gives license to recall and examine every one of Limbaugh's attitudes and positions over the years. Each day should bring one new statement or rant by Rush up for review. Ultimately, his every belief will be reiterated in a whole new context, one where he now faces every accusation against him, by him.

Those with more compassion can simply maintain their sympathetic positions without having to throw any stones that they don't want to throw at anyone other than him anyway. Let Rush's words do the talking, since that's what he does so well.
