Incidentally, for those who are curious, the official White House response to when Bush learned of the leak, and what he did about it, is that they don't know.

An investigation on par with the major news media. Except they did less than nothing.

Swopa, way to keep on top of McClellan. If TLS was still around, I was going to write that one up. It is also important to note, McClellan volunteered Clifford May's NRO piece as evidence that Plame's name was widely known. Of course, this was based on a single anonymous source, but in the case of May... McClellan jumped at the opportunity to use that as 'evidence'. Very, very, sad.
Anyways, thanks Swopa.

"But the motive wasn’t revenge or intimidation so much as a desire to explain why, in their view, Wilson wasn’t a neutral investigator, but, a member of the CIA’s leave-Saddam-in-place team."
What about the WH insider who said it WAS an act of revenge, pure and simple? Which is it?
"The Democrats who are latching onto this aren’t doing so, for the most part, out of somber regard for the law."
But the Republicans (CIA agents) ARE, Mr. Fineperson!
"They are in near hysteria because they finally see a way to make stick a line of attack they have been using for months: that Bush, far from being a decent Texas straight-shooter, is really a genially deceitful liar—a man who cannot be trusted."
No, not hysteria, anger. Anger, that the unelected, fraudulent sockpuppet, who was going to restore dignity and honor to the WH, allowed his operatives to break the law and commit treason--and then expects us to believe his cover-up.
What did the president know about this treasonous act and when did he know it?

So OT. So not mine. This is too good to waste on just one blog (Kos) though:
Psalm 2003
Bush is my shepherd, I shall be in want.
He leadeth me beside the still factories.
He maketh me to lie down on park benches.
He restoreth my doubts about the Republican party.
He guideth me onto the paths of unemployment for the party's sake.
I do fear the evildoers, for thou talkst about them constantly.
Thy tax cuts for the rich and thy deficit spending
They do discomfort me.
Thou anointeth me with never-ending debt,
And my savings and assets shall soon be gone.
Surely poverty and hard living shall follow me,
And my jobless children shall dwell in my basement forever.
*How long is it going to take before you fix that, Newsweek? Sheesh...
They're using that name to throw off the hostile foreign intelligence services, to limit further damage to our intelligence capability.
Dr. Evil, we've been seeking the collaborators of the wrong Plame!

President Bush pens a poem
"President Bush is a great leader and a husband, but I bet you didn't know he is also quite the poet," she said. "Upon returning home last night from my long trip I found a lovely poem waiting there for me."
As her husband watched quietly, she recited it.
"Roses are red/Violets are blue/Oh my, lump in the bed/How I've missed you."
Bush sometimes refers to his wife as a lump in the bed.
Mrs. Bush went on:
"Roses are redder/Bluer am I/Seeing you kissed by that charming French guy."
And then the finale:
"The dogs and the cat, they missed you too/Barney's still mad you dropped him, he ate your shoe/The distance, my dear, has been such a barrier/Next time you want an adventure, just land on a carrier."
Barney the dog had a tumble when Mrs. Bush was handing him to her husband on a tarmac.
I thought he dropped the dog?

Adam in MA, thanks for the compliment -- and yes, Needlenose is planning to open up comments. It's just a matter of my comrade (who set up the site) pulling the switch; I'll prod him on that.
And if The Likely Story is never to return, as you seem to imply, I have a feeling that we'd be delighted to have you supply guest posts if you're interested. You and Rick did great work.

Thanks, Swopa. Those press conferences are getting more surreal by the day. When I start getting truly down about it all and think the bastards might get away with their multitude of crimes, getting an eyeful of those press conference transcripts bucks me up considerably. Nobody (except a certifiable wingnut) could possibly listen to Baby Face McLelland and NOT think they're up to their eyeballs and sinking fast. He's their "best face" on things, right?

The part that baffles me is that if these transcripts are correct, these press gaggles have gotten fairly savage, but you're not seeing a single negative word in the media. The SCLM is still fawning as ever.
