HULK SMASH!!!

Okay-- no problem. I was thinking of sending you one earlier today telling you what a great job you're doing here-- but since I'm maybe first in this thread I'll just say it here. You rock, dude!

GravatarHey Atrios, Funny I just sent you an email:

Best Column On Racist Rush ... Ever!

Read the entire article. It blows away all the rest.

Contact for the columnist: Steve Kelley: 206-464-2176 or skelley@seattletimes.
com

GravatarHere are my favorite excerpts:

****************
"The rest of the panel was talking football. Limbaugh turned it into race. That's what racists do."

"My guess is he believes that the occupation of NFL quarterback is another once-exclusive piece that has been taken from his white world. And that makes Limbaugh nervous."

"In his lame defense, Limbaugh tried to make his remarks sound benign. He said he wasn't talking about race. He was criticizing the media."

"Which media? Last time I checked, Limbaugh, regrettably, is part of the media."

"If he was talking about what he believes is the media's blind desire for McNabb to succeed, why wasn't he more specific?"

"Which writers? Which commentators?" ...

"Limbaugh was as wrong as he is racist. He was as outdated as AstroTurf." ...

"Limbaugh claims the response that his remarks has sparked among sportswriters is proof that he is right. That, like so much of what he says, is stupid and wrong."

"He skewed the record and it needed to be set straight. Hence, the media cacophony." ...

"He's a bad man with an evil agenda."

"In his brief career as an NFL commentator, he tried to throw one quick sucker punch at a successful black quarterback."

"Fortunately, he knocked himself out."
****************

Read the entire article. I love Steve Kelley. Especially revealing is the response from the rest of the Sonic's coaches when Paul Westphal invited them on a golfing outing with Rush...

GravatarAtrios, I just spoke with Ahnuld, and he mentioned you may want to get an assistant. A lovely assistant. A lovely assistant with a great ass. A lovely assistant with a great ass and rack. A rack you don't know is real. For the mystery.

She can help you with your email. And make sure you reply to my emails damnit!

Cheers out...

GravatarI'm amazed you still have the time to read everything, and still do the work you do on your web log, and whatever it is you do that actually makes you money.

I read your web log many times a day, and consider it an important souce of news pointers, and sane political commentary that doesn't make me want to throw a cinder block through the monitor. I haven't sent you much in the way of news pointers because I have to reckon that by the time I see it, you already have. I wouldn't expect a reply to something like that, and if I sent a question it would probably be to some general thing that you could answer for everyone on the web log then privately. I just have this feeling that you have a lot of irons in the fire and not a whole lot of time to deal with any of it. You sure put a lot of energy into this site.

GravatarGreat column, Adam. Thanks for the link!

GravatarHe replied to mine...

:P

Oh, maybe because I offered him something for free.

GravatarJMO, but I have a problem saying Rush is racist. I think there's every possibility that he's just dumber than a box of rocks.

And for flat out impressive, the Ralph Wiley column posted from ESPN is outstanding and without personal commentary on Rush. Which is a good news/bad news kind of thing.

GravatarJust keep creating bloggy goodness. That's all we ask.

Gravatar"Ditto" to all the laudatory praise!

I'd elaborate, but the Oxy is kicking innnnnnn......

Gravatardo you get any from woot? because i have something for him, when i get time to take a picture and get it developed.

GravatarYeah, thanks Atrios. I've been reading your blog for quite awhile. I also salute all of you Atrios readers who are well-informed and complement Eschaton with interesting comments and valuable information.

GravatarI wish I had something to send to Woot

Okay, maybe I don't really, but I just had to say it...

GravatarThe Groper is Losing Support

Mormon Mass. Governor Mitt Romney refuses to appear with Arnold Schwarzenegger

Maybe his is worried Arnie will pinch his wife's ass...

Gravatar1000 emailer gets cable bill paid for a year!

or maybe not.

GravatarInteresting that Romney says that he still supports Arnold, he would make the best governor, yada. Coward. If he hould denounce Arnold, he would have some integrity. He just doesn't want to be photographed with him so that when he's running for re-election, he won't see photos of the family values Mormon & the Nazi loving, women assaulting pig in his opponent's campaign commercials.

GravatarIndeed...

GravatarIt's true that support for the recall is plummeting, based on my very unscientific poll. My family members were strongly in favor of the recall. They hated (and still hate) Davis. But they're all voting "no" on the recall now.

I'd vote "no" too except that I'm an expatriate. Unfortunately, Romney is my Fuehrer.

Gravatar"Bloggy goodness."

Heh. That sounds weirder every time I hear it.

GravatarHon, no you never replied to mine though I thought what I sent you would please you and tickle the cockles of your little heart. No sweat, I'm strong enough to go through life without a reply...

GravatarYeah, ASS, it takes one to know another or to prefer that part of the body above anything else. An ass and his asses...oh glory!

GravatarYeah, thanks Atrios. I've been reading your blog for quite awhile. I also salute all of you Atrios readers who are well-informed and complement Eschaton with interesting comments and valuable information.

Seconded, all round.

In the bloggy good spirit of Eschaton ploughsharing, I offer herewith a couple more Wiggly Piggly Tiddly Links for those who dare to care!

First, providing one of the OTHER memos on Imperial Arnold that the voters might have missed, here's an LA Times commentary by Ann Louise Bardach, who has covered the AS-man for Newsweek International. She tells us that Arnold's vice grip, as it were, extends to the windpipes of the TABLOIDS. And his tentacles, it seems, have got their short hairs, too. Check it out. And now that she's mentioned it, do pass the word that the Screaming Tree Products have refrained from serving up dish on Arnie's noble Roman fingers and manly Russian hands.

Alas, and in contrast to the pulpy non-fictions so useful in "Men in Black," the scandal sheets have provided little more than an alien endorsement. Though they did sell, on the side (and under separate, um, cover) a 120-page glossy called "Arnold, the American Dream," with refs to Camelot, natch, out front.

Talk about your voodoo magic.

Link: http://www.latimes.com/news/ cust...ach2oct02.story

But at least Camejo is now pointing out that if Arnie weren't a rich WHITE boy, he'd have been pumping iron in prison a long, long time ago.

Note - I still think Souvenir Campaign Chokers (free toilet seats for all of Arnie's female supporters) would make a nice handout for weekend protests. "Bummer about the Hummers, Arnie!" T-shirts, too. And complimentary lightbulbs for all. Enron ashtrays and slippers.

Please don't be too prissy out there. Why start now? Just let it rip.

Meanwhile, more commentary on rich white men's troubles comes from Howard Goodman in the SOUTH FLORIDA (ahem) Sun-Sentinel:

Rush Limbaugh's bad week couldn't have happened to a more deserving fellow.

He is, in my humble opinion, a divisive, bullying loudmouth who feeds on made-up enemies and conspiracies; traffics in lies and distortions; and self-righteously wraps the whole venomous shtick in red, white and blue.

And I say this with all due respect.

Later, Goodman editorializes on Rush-in-Limbo's future potential.

It's not clear that the State Attorney's Office will prosecute. And Limbaugh, for a change, isn't saying much.

If Limbaugh is charged, I sincerely hope the prosecution doesn't cut any deals to let an accused drug addict loose on the streets.

If he's convicted, I pray that he doesn't get one of those liberal judges who lets criminals get away with a slap on the wrist.

There's been way too much permissiveness in this country.

The last thing we need is for the bleeding hearts to feel sorry for the guy.

Oh, and sports

GravatarWhoa, whoops.

Last line:

Oh, and sports fans, he talks a little about the football, too.

Cheers and thanks, all!
