OT, Regarding the California election:
I was poking around http://vote2003.ss.ca.gov/Returns/ and came across these images. They look benign and obviously appear to be generated from some test done on the state's reporting software, but could someone more versed in statistics and these kinds of software programs please look them over and tell us what's up with the shifting amounts and slightly skewed percentages. Thanks.
Regarding how did he hide it from his wife:
I don't have the reference (maybe it was in the original Enquirer article), but I remember hearing that he stashed them under the mattress. I also remember someone commenting that that was smart, as she would never get near there.
Someone might also suggest that it would be easy to pull the wool over the eyes of someone with judgment and eyesight poor enough to allow her to marry Rush Limbaugh.

Profoundly OT
But I just found this gem at the Freeper site (this is NOT satire):
We are privileged to be living in this grand period of our national life. April 9th AD2003 shall be remembered in future history as "V-I Day" and hallowed as such along with the other illustrious days of victory in our generation, some indubitably still forthcoming, when the great fascist and communist powers of the world were vanquished by the powers of good and freedom; ever spearheaded by our valiant Anglo-American alliance. Along with this astounding victory, arguably the greatest feat of arms since Cortes, comes the well deserved vindication of our President, George W. Bush, his administration, and the overwhelming silent majority of the American Citizenry which supported Operation Iraqi Freedom. While the liberal left, especially in the celebrity contingent were all too quick to condemn the operation and prejudicate toward failure and dishonor, it comes today as no surprise that none of these has anything to say for themselves. This is also the case, I grieve to say, in this campus where dissidents and protestors have been blatantly outspoken against the operation, often anonymously using graffiti like street thugs and cowards. Do I dare to wonder whom among these piteous souls shall have the testicular fortitude to account for their former actions? In any event they shall bear the burden of shame and the mark of cowardice for the rest of their lives. On this subject I commend the words of George Orwell who said; "Wherever men are at peace or in their beds, it is only because rough men stand ready to do violent acts on their behalf "
This "piteous soul" has the "testicular fortitude" to say: BULLSHIT!

what rush deserves does not matter; the golden rule is that we treat others the way we want to be treated, regardless of how they would have us treated, so it should be our policy that he gets the same treatment atrios would if he happened to fall prey.
i am certainly no rush apologist, but i do think that having him sent to jail might not be the answer when all we ever talk about is how superior treatment is to jail. we can show ourselves to be better than rush and his ilk by extending them the compassion they refuse us.

Given his dumping on drug users (esp. after his own non-successes with rehab), Rush deserves no mercy. Hopefully, the other patients

I'm sure glad I'm not a Buddhist. The only kinds of karma I believe in are instant and externally-induced.
When evil men do damage to the things you hold dear, you can either fight them or let them get away with it.
If you're going to fight, fight to win. If the b*st*rds are down, kick them until they can't stand back up.
It is a mistake to show mercy to those who have none themselves.

When the White House announced it was reorganizing its approach to reconstructing Iraq, the obvious conclusion was that President Bush now understands things aren't going well there. At every opportunity, he says they are, but they're not. On one hand, it's encouraging that he finally seems to grasp that. On the other, his prescribed solution is a monumental disappointment.
The reorganization plan calls for National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice to chair an Iraq Stabilization Group, which the White House described as a coordinator "of interagency efforts, as well as providing a support group" to the Pentagon and its chief U.S. administrator in Iraq, Paul Bremer. "Stabilization" is an interesting word for the White House to use; it implies that the situation now is unstable.
What went unsaid, but has been abundantly clear this week, is that Rice's appointment was an attempt to end the fighting between the Pentagon and the State Department over Iraq policy. As one Washington insider said, it's like when two kids are fighting over a toy and a parent comes into the room. The toy gets taken away, and things settle down.
Also clear is that this was a stinging defeat for Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld. Rice referred to prior conversations about the reorganization with Rumsfeld, Secretary of State Colin Powell and CIA Director George Tenet. But Rumsfeld angrily denied having such conversations or being involved in planning the new structure. His pique is an indication of just how much he's on the outs with the White House, the State Department, and even his neocon friends, over his approach to rebuilding Iraq.
So you have a mess in Washington and in Iraq. The answer surely isn't to add another level of bureaucracy in Washington. What's needed are wiser heads, and a lot of them, from a lot of countries, on the ground in Baghdad.
That's what the Bush administration appeared to seek a week ago when it offered a new draft resolution it hoped to get endorsed by the U.N. Security Council, which would lead the way to truly internationalizing the rebuilding effort in Iraq. The new draft gave little ground on U.S. control in Iraq, however, and brought scathing responses from U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan, France, Germany and Russia. Soft-spoken, usually circumspect Annan flat out said he would not risk the lives of more personnel for the marginal U.N. role outlined in the draft resolution.
With creation of the Iraq Stabilization Group just a couple of days later, the White House was thumbing its nose at the Security Council and signaling that it has given up on getting U.N. support in Iraq. The effort won't be internationalized; it will be bureaucratized.
It also will be spun and spun and spun. Rice and other senior administration officials already have embarked on a vigorous effort to get the message out that the situation in Iraq

SUNDAY REPORT
Israel Adds Subs to Its Atomic Ability
Officials confirm that the nation can now launch nuclear weapons from land, sea and air. The issue complicates efforts to rein in Iran.
By Douglas Frantz, Times Staff Writer
TEL AVIV — Israel has modified American-supplied cruise missiles to carry nuclear warheads on submarines, giving the Middle East's only nuclear power the ability to launch atomic weapons from land, air and beneath the sea, according to senior Bush administration and Israeli officials.
The previously undisclosed submarine capability bolsters Israel's deterrence in the event that Iran — an avowed enemy — develops nuclear weapons. It also complicates efforts by the United States and the United Nations to persuade Iran to abandon its suspected nuclear weapons program.
Two Bush administration officials described the missile modification and an Israeli official confirmed it. All three spoke on condition their names not be used.
The Americans said they were disclosing the information to caution Israel's enemies at a time of heightened tensions in the region and concern over Iran's alleged ambitions.
I know a married couple, both hooked on oxy contin. The husband went to hell and back, first trying to get off the oxy's cold turkey, then going into rehab for 30 days and ultimately kicking the drug. The wife refuses to admit that she's addicted, and is still on oxy contin. At the worst of their addiction, they were both getting prescriptions from their doctor, buying at least 50 oxy contins on the street at $10.00/pill. These were not wealthy people and got in financial trouble b/c of their addiction. What strikes me is that both this husband and wife said they were in a lot of pain, him back trouble (same as Rush), her facial/ear pain. Since's he's been clean, he has admitted that while he did have back problems and had surgery at one point, the pain was not nearly as bad as he let on. While he was addicted to Oxy Contin, he sort of had to keep talking about the excruciating pain he was in otherwise, he would have lost his excuse for needing the pills. Bottom line:
Rush is a puss. A drug addicted puss.

That really burns you guys, doesn't enough -- enough to drive you to finding something to ease your pain? Why are you still so jealous? If left unchecked, it will just .. eat .. away .. at .. you ..

Bill Rehm and David Ehrenstien have got it right: Lying down and snivelling, "W-w-well, m-maybe I disagree," while the Right steam rolls right over us is not the way. As Gray Davis just learned. As Tony Blair is learning. And as the useless, spineless DLC jellyfish should have learned by now. We have a right to self defence.
Rush Limbaugh is a worthless piece of human garbage. If the current junta imposes martial law, and starts rounding up liberals and executing them, Rush would have mutiple orgasms. So, no, I don't think any of us sobbing over the poor dear's self-inflicted fuck-ups is a very good idea. The man is pure scum, and he deserves to suffer.

I'm detecting an interesting pattern here: Even though it's clear that the CIA is making the accusation, the VRWC persists in attacking Joe Wilson.
Even though Rush Limbaugh has admitted that the charges the Enquirer made are true, the trolls continue to attack the billy goats gruff for believing the Enquirer.
Could the Mighty Wurlitzer be breaking down?

Maybe the freepers have the noids that their stash is going to be discovered next. I'm really coming to believe that it might not be the yellow hair dye talking. The symptoms of the talking con heads look like serious drug dependency. Who makes more sense, Wm. Bennet or the late Timoth Leary? I'd say from John Fund through David Brooks and on down to Coulter they should all get mandatory drug testing.

It suddenly dawned on me: He was patting me down - groping me to see if I was wearing a wire!
Boy people can be naive. The scumbag was copping a feel.
