I'MMA LET YOU FINISH

GravatarDude, we're like totally stoved piped.

GravatarBush gets his advice from Supply-Side Jesus.

GravatarYou've all heard of the Jefferson Bible; the one created by TJ with Christ's divinity snipped out?
Well, there seems to be a Bush Bible . . .

Gravatar"I will tell you, it is very hard for this government to have a vision on anything."

Done, done and........done.

Gravatarfishing for recent history, please correct if wrong

bush present and past had a war, economic problems, and diminishing popularity, but GHW (41) had much better white house, much more together organization, compared to the Cabal and their various lobbyists. is the least "unified" or "organized white house in a long time

thus president dean (or etc)?

GravatarBlow your holy smoke into that Great Stovepipe to the Sky.

Gravatar thus president dean (or etc)?

that would be the traditional way of looking at it; unfortunately, we have the counting of votes to deal with (and all that entails when crooks are running the election)

GravatarWell...Mr. Bodman does speak the truth. I have been working on "Homeland Security" since Oct. '01. I knew the government was generally unable to get its act together on "non-critical" issues like mfg. I thought naively that an attack that killed 3000 Americans would get the politicians and bureaucrats off their fannies and soapboxes, respectively. Didn't happen. Stovepiping ain't the least of it. Pork barrel politics means that Sugarland TX gets more $$$ than New York to stop the bad guys. Big government can only deal with big business so big DoD type contractors run the show. Not surprisingly the big contractors won't push something that isn't right-sized. Why do you think Halliburton charges so much for gasoline in Iraq. Two reasons: they can and they wouldn't bid for a competitive contract in the first place. Nothing of merit gets done at DHS or DoC or DoT. Just a sinkhole.

Gravatarbut...the pResident promised the NY firefighters money on that pile of ash that day...surely you don't think it would then be the pResident's job to carry through on his promise? The pResident makes promises for us too follow through on! Be a thousandth point of light, or the terr...

GravatarI love Supply Side Jesus from the Franken Book. He certainly has a lot more followers than just the Emperor.

GravatarSorry guys. With our former Gov (you know... Gov. Hubie Small Lips)in charge of Homeland Security good old PA is getting the lions share of the hand outs. We're # 1...We're # 1!!

Excuse me, I was just kinda, well you know.......

GravatarThe federal government is more or less "stovepiped" by design. (Constitution plus evolution.) It's SUPPOSED to require political leadership from the top to move in a coherent direction. Instead we have squabbling factions that are less united than in any previous presidency.

GravatarAre you suggesting that George W. Bush has no leadership skills?

Outrageous.

GravatarYa' know, somehow under Ron Brown the Commerce Dept. could get its act together. This adminstration is all about excuses rather than results.

GravatarWren -- I'd like to numbers or sources of data on Sugarland vs. NYC. It would be great for the Bug Man's opponent in the Congressional race. Everyone one likes pork, but it would be a telling blow for a town like Sugarland which has a low (virtually zero) security risk to get more money than NYC, one of America’s premier cities and with a security risk that is only too well known. Such a misplaced allocation of resources defines corruption in my view. Time for the Bug Man to go!

GravatarClearly what's needed here is a new super-cabinet position that would give marching orders to all the other departments: Secretary of Spoils. Then it would be obvious even to a dunderhead like Bodman how the system works.

But isn't it already a beautiful system? They get to mouth the gipper's disdain of government, but then use that government to hoover up money from involuntary “consumers” (versus, say, “citizens”) and redistribute it to political cronies like Halliburton, KBR, etc. And so we have a government that “purchases” goods and services based on what’s most profitable to the privatization clique, not on what the taxpayers/consumers want or need. Hence, we get a Medicare that focuses on maximum drug company return, a foreign policy that focuses on maximizing military procurement, an energy policy that focuses on maximizing hydrocarbon consumption, and so forth. And the unprofitable stuff of day to day governance - education, water and sewer, roads, policing, etc. - gets left to the bankrupted states and municipalities.

GravatarWell, there seems to be a Bush Bible . . .
Steve Paradis

GravatarPlease, can we get Pickler onto Fox News and out of the AP soon?

Gravatar"Balkanized?" She's got to go.

GravatarThe sad thing is Bodman is speaking the unvarnished truth.

It's also the incomplete truth.

This Govt. does have a vision: to wield its power on behalf of those that supports them politically.

GravatarIt must be hard to be a grown-up Republican these days.

I know that's a little oxymoronic, but hey, in an 11-dimensional universe almost anything can happen.

I agree with JadeGold. The chaos is a smokescreen. You can bet Bill Bennett Wolfie and Cheney and Rove have an agenda. If Condi's too addled and the Bodmans and the Bakers seem at a loss for rational explanations, it's because the truth is too harsh to repeat outside the locker room.

GravatarManufacturing? Who needs that? Shut up and get back in your cubicle! I need that code by the end of the day!

...or...

Manufacturing? Who needs that? Shut up and get back on the sales floor!

GravatarBuck, what you say bears repeating:

And so we have a government that “purchases” goods and services based on what’s most profitable to the privatization clique, not on what the taxpayers/consumers want or need. Hence, we get a Medicare that focuses on maximum drug company return, a foreign policy that focuses on maximizing military procurement, an energy policy that focuses on maximizing hydrocarbon consumption, and so forth. And the unprofitable stuff of day to day governance - education, water and sewer, roads, policing, etc. - gets left to the bankrupted states and municipalities

You've put it about as succinctly as I've seen the Bush agenda described anywhere.

Gravataryeah, speaking the truth is about the only thing that'll get you canned in this administration

GravatarI read the Nedra Pickles comment on how Bush gets his advice directly from The Source and thought "Yeah, okay, typical satire of how deranged this wacko conseratives are."
Then I read down and thought "Ohmigawd! She actually believes this idiocy?!?!"

GravatarOT: Another moral Republican caught in financial snafu. Republican Governor John Rowland of Connecticut admits to lying about improvements to his cottage, but says donors were shown no favoritism. Administration has been target of federal corruption probe. Why won't they identify them in the press as Republicans like they do the Dems?

Ooops, my mistake. SCLM!

Gravatarno beatitudes in the bush bible.

GravatarABSENTEE BALLOTS ARE PAPER...ABSENTEE

GravatarNader p licker, never do anagrams but this suddenly came to me yesterday. I'm ashamed of myself, but not too much.

That was rather good

GravatarAtrios - hehe Nedra, nice. Don't let up on that!

GravatarThis is yet another example of how right wingers will slay entire portions of the government they feel are worthless, while building up the sections they prefer.

in the case of supporting US-based manufacturers, their response is a gigantic "go fuck yourselves" in the face of hopelessly cheap chinese-made goods flooding legally into our markets.

remember, bush didn't tell taiwan to go fuck themselves last week for nothin'.
