I'MMA LET YOU FINISH

GravatarAnd the military personel VOTE for this turkey?

GravatarSucks to be military as usual.

GravatarBingo, MarsKitten.

GravatarY'know, a military coup is not sounding all that bad ...

Just kidding, Mr. Ashcroft. Nice kitty ...

A.

Gravatar"...at the dawn of the 2004 campaign season..."

Shhhhhhhh!

GravatarA Pentagon spokesman declined Wednesday to comment on the drug plan, calling it "pre-decisional."

Gotta love Pentagon-speak. Sometimes I really miss Al Haig. He'd jargonize the English language in such unexpected ways.

GravatarSomeone from Army Times will be on C-Span tomorrow morning to talk about military attitudes toward Bushco. It will be a good opportunity to call in and spread the word about this.

GravatarIt gets worse. There's an article in today's LA Times that says the Pentagon is preparing to again expand/extend the Stop-Loss program for active-duty Army troops. The program was last extended on November 13th.

This isn't just personal hardship for the soldiers and families affected; it's also an indicator of how badly the Army is overextended.

GravatarA Pentagon spokesman declined Wednesday to comment on the drug plan, calling it "pre-decisional."

Doesn't he mean "pre-delusional"?

GravatarWell this should mean around 500.000+ votes that the dems didn't have the last time, let's see if it has any difference.

But hey 'they' probably wont wait for the military votes before declaring victory, because 'everyone knows' that they vote GOP any way, (so it isn't such a big lie.)

me gloomy?

GravatarNot to be too prickly (well, alright, a little prickly): but tell me again how Karl Rove is the mad policy genius behind the inevitable re-election of this doofus?

If you pay attention to the headlines (that is, if every day is a new one for you), you might think Bush is invincible.

But this kind of long-term nonsense (not to mention the sheer strain already of the Iraq occupation; latest plan to is rotate out all troops almost at once, and rotate in fresh troops almost at once. How's that for continuity? Like someone else said: sucks to be military.) is absolute, though below-the-headlines, electoral disaster.

If Karl is so bright and powerful, why is this even appearing as a trial balloon?

Gravatarthe gop is already filling out the absentee ballots for the military...it's the least they can do for our boys.

GravatarJust how many on the ground troops know about these VA cuts?
Isn't that the real problem the vets who use the services know, but the young bucks don't.

GravatarI heard a man on a talk show (a local LEFTIST talk show-WMNF 88.5; one pm tues-fri) state that his friends in the service in Iraq have been told that each one will vote for Bush, with the implication being that no matter how each person marks his/her ballot, it will be counted for Bush.

GravatarPreznit giv me turkee and ekspansuv pils.

American Lakota Soldier Posted to Iraq Told to 'Forget Rape'
In January, Longee says, she was raped in her barracks at Fort Hood in Texas by a fellow soldier. As a military police officer, she knew the difficulties she would face, she said, and after bundling up her stained clothing, she agonized for two days before reporting the assault.
The man she identified as her attacker has not been charged, she said. The military never gave her a victim advocate or offered counseling, she said.
"I've been told there is DNA evidence against him," Vague said of the accused assailant. "It's been almost a year - why is he still walking around? It's like they are trying to break my daughter."

Gravatar...his friends in the service in Iraq have been told that each one will vote for Bush, with the implication being that no matter how each person marks his/her ballot, it will be counted for Bush. -- sally

If it weren't for all of the fascist, undemocratic shit that happened with the military ballots in Florida, I would consider that statement to be deep into tinfoil hat territory.

**Sigh** And to think I thought I was a jaded cynic before BushCo stole office. Oh, those days of blue-sky innocence.

GravatarOT, but quite interesting

Listen: WMD interview

Gravatarand the democrats are considered to be unpatriotic and anti-soldier?

fuck that, son. fuck that.

Gravatar**Sigh** And to think I thought I was a jaded cynic before BushCo stole office. Oh, those days of blue-sky innocence.

Amen to that, Peanut

GravatarPlease, yes, keep alienating. You've already F'ed the country, just keep F'ing it in obvious ways that people can get outraged about until Nov 2004, then get the hell out of the way.

GravatarExcellent! It's time the military community understood exactly where it ranks in the Republican Plutocracy of America. Veterans are counted on for a knee-jerk Republican vote, but the only time you'll see a Bush serving the military is for a quickie turkee photo-op.

When it comes down to business, BushCo can't actually demand competitive pricing from the pharmaceutical vampires, so retirees better just pony up the co-pays and stop griping.

Personally, I can't muster that much outrage about raising the co-pays. I am paying $1000+/month for family insurance and co-pays have jumped to $30 for a one-month brand-name prescription. When everybody feels the pain, maybe we'll muster the political will to take on Big Pharma/Big Insurance.

GravatarThe Bush administration is considering dramatic increases in the fees military retirees pay..

This is how they do it. First, everyone is po'd. Second, when asked they say it is 'premature' to say what they may do and caution you against jumping the gun, to keep shut up. Third, they enact it exactly as expected.

Fourth, when asked how in the hell they could such a thing, they say, "This has been discussed for a long time, something had to be done, we should move on. This has been discussed and discussed. Everyone knows Bush supports the military, after all, he said he did. Aren't you listening?"

Of course they won't mention that the previous 'discussion' decided it was another piece of shit policy coming from the deceitful conservatives.

GravatarAnd of course, the media will roll over and praise it like some great new thing, and people will eat it up all the same and bless Dear Leader even more.

GravatarIt wouldn't be so bad if we were paying more for a DECENT health system, but Tricare is utter crap. It has so many exclusions that allow the military to wriggle out of reimbursing your costs, that hardly any doctors will take it. They know how much time they will waste chasing down payment, and it's not worth the hassle.

I lived last year in Allentown, PA, and there is not a single doctor in that city who will accept TRICARE patients. So, technically, military retirees have health care, but in practice they have health insurance that doctors won't accept.

Military health insurance is the medical equivalent of a Betamax VCR.

GravatarIf you hang around Hackworth.com and SFTT.org, you might get a better ides of how many in the service view things.
It may be a bit gung-ho for some of you--or maybe not--but worth checking out.

GravatarFWIW

In the latest issue of the American Legion magazine, the National Commander rips bushco.

I don't remember the whole article, but it could be about this.

I am not near the magazine now. I will check tomorrow.

GravatarFWIW

In the latest issue of the American Legion magazine, the National Commander rips bushco.

Really? The Am. Legion? CapnEnigma, I'll sleep better tonight thanks to you. Won't need that pill afterall. The Am. Legion rips Bushco...

GravatarWasn't worth much, I guess.
Buit it is another indication that preznit Boorish aint all that popular with the military. At least not as popular as he thinks.

Gravatarto bad this stuff ain't being covered by the MWs on TV.

Gravatarcan't wait to see the Florida Overseas ballots counted this year

GravatarThe Legion, by the way for those unaware, is traditionally fanatically hard-right, with most other vet organizations somewhere to the left of them.
But it is as it is foretold/explained in the Codex Pythonenesis, Mary Recruitment Office Sketch: Signing up for the military is the same thing as volunteering to get screwed in every possible way; you should only do it if we're fighting Hitler or if you really want a military life.

GravatarVolenteering in the Bush era? HA! The only "volenteeering" you should be doing is against him.

See you in the reeducation camps post-04!

GravatarA commentator on CNN, on that show with Robert "Treason Enabler" Novak, pointed out that more than 100,000 former volunteers are now being held in service against their will, past the expiration date of their voluntary service, due to a so-called "stop-loss" order.

He noted that we already have a draft, it's just working a little differently than we might expect.

GravatarG.I. Goober-mince pie: Buit it is another indication that preznit Boorish aint all that popular with the military. At least not as popular as he thinks.

You think preznit not hand-pick 600 troops to giv turkee?

Terrorist threat in November: al Qaeda sending anthrax in counterfeit military ballot envelopes.
.

GravatarThere are a couple of things that you need to know. One, the current copay of any vet, retired or not, is $7 not $3. I am a vet and I work at a VA Pharmacy so I can personally confirm these rates.

Also, Even at $10 this is good deal. There is no monthy premium to pay and $10 is not that much to pay. If you have other health insurance then they will cover the co-pay.

I used VA health while I was out of work and give it a big 100% approval.

I have no miltary disabilities so I get no discount yet my cost are only $15 per visit to and the $7 co-pay for drugs.

That's a great deal! Remember, there is no monthly premium to pay.

Its not perfect, it can take a while to get certain procedures done but overall the customer service is good.

In fact, this is the type of service you can expect to received if Hillary-care or other single payer systems are used nationwide.
