A consultant's dual role raises question of whether secretly financed ad campaign remained secret.
Key gafs:
To Hammond's critics, it strains credibility that Hammond didn't use Colyandro's organization to coordinate his $1.9 million ad campaign.
"They are asking us to believe in the tooth fairy, and there is no tooth fairy in politics," said Craig McDonald with Texans for Public Justice, a group that monitors campaign finance. "It takes a great leap of faith to believe the key operatives were not sharing information and coordinating resources to accomplish their admitted common goal."
"It's a stretch," added McDonald, who's no relation to Chuck McDonald, "to believe they are playing by the rules in those meetings."

Off-topic, whatever the topic here is.
But doesn't the recess appointment of Pryor, when Bush was already getting 98% of his nominees, signal that it is time for a nuclear response by Dems? I.E. No more judicial nominations at all will be entertained. Is Pryor's appointment another indicator of WH panic, that the knuckle-draggers must be reassured?

it's good to see him covering the tragic shooting of the 10 year old A+ student (rittenhouse's stress) in philly. tell me, why does this not get as much coverage as the disappearance of a teen age girl in florida, murder of a girl in colorado, etc. (i know the answer, it's just very frustrating)

Besides being in favor of tossing mothers who've had abortions, and the doctors who perform them, into prison, Pryor also condones executing seven-year-old "criminals." The press describes him as a typical "conservative." You know what, they're probably right. I'd prefer to use the term "sadistic crackpot" to portray him, but then I'm too lily-livered to kill children.

C.I.A. Admits It Didn't Give Weapon Data to the U.N.
The Central Intelligence Agency has acknowledged that it did not provide the United Nations with information about 21 of the 105 sites in Iraq singled out by American intelligence before the war as the most highly suspected of housing illicit weapons.
The acknowledgment, in a Jan. 20 letter to Senator Carl Levin, Democrat of Michigan, contradicts public statements before the war by top Bush administration officials.

Both George J. Tenet, the director of central intelligence, and Condoleezza Rice, the national security adviser, said the United States had briefed United Nations inspectors on all of the sites identified as "high value and moderate value" in the weapons hunt.
The contradiction is significant because Congressional opponents of the war were arguing a year ago that the United Nations inspectors should be given more time to complete their search before the United States and its allies began the invasion. The White House, bolstered by Mr. Tenet, insisted that it was fully cooperating with the inspectors, and at daily briefings the White House issued assurances that the administration was providing the inspectors with the best information possible.
In a telephone interview on Friday, Senator Levin said he now believed that Mr. Tenet had misled Congress, which he described as "totally unacceptable."
It really WAS totally justified. Hadn't you noticed the polls before the war, and what has happened since it ended?
For Bush, some more war is totally justified right now and, more importantly, at the end of October.
I sure hope the next one will generate some really pithy lines like:
"We don't need a permission slip from the UN to flex our military muscles in order to reverse a downward polling trend. We simply won't tolerate UN interference in American domestic politics."

Atrios,
thanks for the recommendation. Great posts from Jim C. after a short period when he did not blog much. And for personal reasons I can especially relate to the 'Life on the Edge' post ...
