I'MMA LET YOU FINISH

GravatarThe Republicans are destined to live up to be the Party of Mob Irresponsibility. Like with the Brooks Bros. Riot.

GravatarIt's nice to see just how far consertive opinion has come in the past 54 years. Could anyone forward a link to Andy Sullivan?

GravatarOT but, Gee, wonder why we haven't heard more about this story:

The former chief internal watchdog at the FBI has pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a 6-year-old girl and has admitted he had a history of molesting other children before he joined the bureau for what became a two-decade career.

John H. Conditt Jr., 53, who retired in 2001, was sentenced last week to 12 years in prison in Tarrant County court in Fort Worth, Texas, after he admitted he molested the daughter of two FBI agents after he retired. He acknowledged molesting at least two other girls before he began his law enforcement career, his lawyer said.

...

A recently retired FBI whistleblower who brought allegations to Conditt's office that agents had not aggressively pursued evidence of sexual abuse in Indian country said Tuesday she now questions whether his personal history affected that decision.

"Before, it never made any sense," retired agent Jane Turner said of the FBI's decision to decline to further investigate her allegations. "Now I can understand. Why in the world wouldn't you want to investigate that?"

Goldsmith said he was concerned about the safety of his client in prison given that he is a former FBI agent and an admitted child molester. "He's not going to be comfortable in the penitentiary," the lawyer said.

Of course, injuns get less cancer.

GravatarOT: David Brooks in latest NYT opinion piece says that Bush lives a "freakish, boy-in-the-bubble life".

Brooks fails to admit that he makes his money by keeping Bush in that bubble and explaining away the bubble to Americans.

Still hasn't written that resignation column I've been looking forward to.

GravatarThe ultimate resource of this kind which compares Nazi anti-gay hate-speech to today's religious-right anti-gay hate speech.

This page will convince any person in his or her right mind that the two tribes do, in actuality, share the exact same agenda.

http://www.hatecrime.org/subpage...ler/ hitler.html

Gravatarthe republicans are fanning the flames of hatred and culture war.

Ehhh-xcellent.

GravatarNice trip down memory lane. Anyone want to go through that again? Looks like you'll get your chance to find out.

I say we go back to 50s style divorce laws, while we're at it. How can the Marriage Defenders refuse. As has been pointed out on this site, no- fault divorce has made it so much easier. I say the straights have to go back to arranging who's going to be the adulterer if they're serious about defending traditional marriage.

GravatarNote that in France it is legally permissible to marry a dead person, and this happens about 20 times a year.

GravatarIf you want to have a good laugh at Adam Yoshida's expense (on the topic of gay marriage), go here and then check out the comments thread.

GravatarCorrection: My previous post should read:

...compares Nazi anti-Jew hate-speech to today's religious-right anti-gay hate speech.

Sorry for the confusion...

I've put the page-link in the HOMEPAGE link directly below...

GravatarBob H --

Great information. Who coine the phrase "Make up your own jokes"?

Thanks, atrios.

GravatarMaybe you've seen this, but Kos reveals that Gary Bauer feels used:

"I'm not blaming the president, but religious conservatives have been doing politics for 25 years and, on every front, are worse off on things they care about," said Gary Bauer, president of American Values. "The gay rights movement is more powerful, the culture is more decadent, the life of not one baby has been saved, porn is in the living room, and you can't watch the Super Bowl without your hand on the off switch."

GravatarGoldsmith said he was concerned about the safety of his client in prison given that he is a former FBI agent and an admitted child molester. "He's not going to be comfortable in the penitentiary," the lawyer said.

God, I fucking hope not!

And Holden, I hope Bauer spends each and every day in torment- it's what he deserves for being such an ass hat.

GravatarBut Gary, you got your holy war on.

GravatarHolden, when Bush loses in November, and the RR loses its link to the White House, will people like Bauer take their bibles and go home and leave the rest of us alone?

People don't want someone else's religious beliefs shoved down their throats. That's why those of Gary Bauer's ilk aren't meeting with enough success and ultimately will not get their agendas into the mainstream.

GravatarI always get the feeling that Gary Bauer is the result of some 40s era breeding experiment gone horribly wrong. He reminds me of the trial scene in the movie, M. And I don't mean the gangsters.

GravatarI can always easily imagine Gary Bauer in a SS uniform- I find him that creepy.

GravatarNote that in France it is legally permissible to marry a dead person, and this happens about 20 times a year.
Bob H

Oh, so that's where Andrea Mitchell got married.

pie

Too bad the candidate with big enough balls to yell, "I'm tired of listening to the fundamentalists!" isn't in the race anymore.

Gravatar*sigh* sumwon, yes, it's too bad. We need to move on. I don't like it, but that's the way it is.

Let's see what Dean can do from now on. I'm certainly not writing him off. He might actually be able to help in ways we can't imagine.

Now, behave.

GravatarFrom the 1950 transcript on corrente's site:

[THEN - Mr. Miller cont...] [...] You will find odd words in the vocabulary of the homosexual. There are many types such as the necrophalia, fettichism, pygmalionism/

I knew there was something going on between Henry Higgins and Colonel Pickering, didn't you?

GravatarFrom the 1950 transcript on corrente's site:

[THEN - Mr. Miller cont...] [...] You will find odd words in the vocabulary of the homosexual. There are many types such as the necrophalia, fettichism, pygmalionism...

I suspected there was something going on between Professor Henry Higgins and Colonel Pickering, didn't you?

GravatarInteresting that despite his disparaging remarks about gays, Watergate criminal Charles Colson sought out a gay man, Irving Rapper, to direct the film version of the story of his life, Born Again.

Only a few years before Rapper had directed The Christine Jorgensen Story.

I sense a thematic linkage.

GravatarFundamentalists: the only people who get more and more paranoid and combative as they gain power.

So, when 90% of people are Christian, then can you drop the persecution complex?

GravatarFundamentalists: the only people who get more and more paranoid and combative as they gain power.

So, when 90% of people are Christian, then can you drop the persecution complex?

No, because they are absolutely terrified of the day when they will lose that power.

They're worried that the true, freedom-loving majority of America will turn on them with all the hate and violence they've directed at everyone else in this country.

Fortunatel for them, most of them will be left alone. Only the worst of their number will be tried for their crimes.

GravatarSo, just what is "pygmalionism"? I thought I'd tried every thing. Darn those wascally gay-type men for taking away decent, honest, all-American pervertism from us!

GravatarOh my God, the comments to Adam Yoshida were hysterical! The best laugh I've had all day. And he left them up? He's either a brave man or a very stupid man.

GravatarVERY stupid.

GravatarOh my God, the comments to Adam Yoshida were hysterical!

They've got nothing on Yoshida himself though.

GravatarGuys, does anyone care that it's not only Christians and Republicans who get all bent out of shape about homosexuals?

Holy hatred: Homosexuality in Muslim countries

Where is the outrage against this from the Homosexual community?

Or do they only care about their own cozy little world, where they only care about themselves and thier agendas?

GravatarIt's hard to have anything on a guy who uses "The Brilliant Peggy Noonan" as a headline without being sarcastic. Adam Yoshida is a good real life "Chickenblogger Down."

GravatarIkan, I recently read an article in the UK press about tolerance of homosexuality in Saudi Arabia - it's surprisingly prevalent, despite the best efforts of the local cultural/moral police. Saudis know that homosexuality exists, they don't like it, but nine times out of ten they do nothing about it - unless there's something else (like the perpetrators being foreign) upon which some charges can be stuck.

GravatarThe grim reality is that Bushboy, Cheneychins, Frist, Delay and various other Gooper luminaries belong in federal prison, not public office!

Their depraved indifference to human life with their lies to promote a war against a paper tiger like Saddam, who they portrayed as an "imminent threat" is reason enough to clap them in jail.

In addition, they have proven to be utterly corrupt in selling out the health and welfare of the American people with regard to the environment and their financial well being, as they allow polluters and Wall St. frauds to profiteer for a fee.

Finally, their fiscal irresponsibility in wrecking the federal budget with record deficits is the definition of malfeasance in office and dereliction of duty.

GravatarColson suggested that all Billy dolls should come with a plastic coffin, asserting that most gays are "men whose lives are tragically marked by disease, addition, misery, and early death."

It's all true. I have a tragic problem with addition. I've had chicken pox, and I have a mark to show for it (although it's more comic than tragic--it looks something like Bert from Sesame St.). Dealing with homophobes is miserable. I'm also certain that I will feel my death to be too early, when it comes.

I just wish those Billy dolls came with some sort of "exaggerated penis may cause eye injury" warning. Tsk. So tacky.
