I'MMA LET YOU FINISH

Dear Kerry Campaign Guys,

Time to call your contacts in the media.

Love,

Well, remember the security demands he made while in Buckingham Palace?

He's a scared little man. Explains all the belligerence....

GravatarDoes anyone have a Democratic Underground account? Please post this. It will spread like wildfire from there.

GravatarAnd, again - http://tinyurl.com/ypsz6

GravatarWow, now that is crazy. Maybe it's their extra special security plan for the NYC convention? Or maybe it's to protect Karl Rove from the millions of angry citizens who would like to tear him into a billion little pieces?

GravatarRobert has it exactly right. He's a scared, little man. Just as his handlers and donors are. They are people of means with a lot to feel guilty about. They want protection from the masses they've fucked for the last three years. Go figure.

Look for some especially nice things to go down around the convention and look for Vance's "imaging" capabilities to send a lot of information to the FBI/Homeland Insecurity department for "follow-up".

GravatarHey, small Central American nations don't topple themselves now, do they?

A.

GravatarOr could be to act as agents provocateurs, causing riots in NYC during the convention a la the Pinkertons or 2000 Florida, thus giving George W Bullshit a reason to declare martial law.

Damn, I gotta get some automatic weaponry pronto.

GravatarBecause he knows that police all over the country are probably pissed at him for going back on funding promises. Especially in NYC.

Bring on the Brownshirts! Truncheons at ready!
Police state, HERE WE COME!

GravatarSounds like Ernst Rohm is back from the grave.

GravatarWow. Whoa. And ack. Plus, they've opened an office in Iraq???

Gee, Beav, that's kinda creepy.

GravatarObviously, Hunt, Liddy and their Cubans are too old.

Njorl

GravatarIt's ironic they call their mission "asset protection."

They should thank God every day most American workers are still willing to play by the NLRB rules and participate only in legally certified unions, picket lines, etc.

Because if they try to monitor every worker on the job, every minute of their work day, there's not enough close circuit cameras in the world to protect company "assets" from a digruntled labor force.

Google the Wobbly pamphlet "How to Fire Your Boss: A Worker's Guide to Direct Action on the Job."

Going on a traditional, NLRB-approved strike, any more, is just giving the boss an opportunity to do a lockout, hire scabs, and break the union. The bosses LOOK FORWARD to strikes these days.

But if you think about it, there's probably a thousand ways you can think of every day to raise costs, degrade efficiency, or embarass your employer, and otherwise flush his profits down the drain, with virtually no risk of getting caught.

And the only thing stopping you is the little boss inside your head.

I killed that little guy off a long time ago.

For that matter, if a union DOES decide to go on a traditional strike, there are ways to even up the odds. There's not much point hiring scabs if the machinery goes on strike as well.

GravatarBut what could W be afraid of? Maybe a confrontation at a rally a la the Vietnam vet who buttonholed Kerry recently? When was the last time W actually spent any time at all with an unvetted audience?

H'rumph

GravatarI sent this story to Helen Thomas. I don't know if it will do any good but it was worth a shot...

GravatarThis is truly UN-F@$%ING-BELIEVABLE.

This is some truly evil stuff. Amazing.

And where is the so-called "liberal" media on this?

GravatarSomebody has posted it on Democratic Underground. News travels fast on this side of the internet.

GravatarSend this link out to your local newspaper. Please.

This shit scares me.

GravatarScarey shit. Sounds like just a down payment thought. I don't thing 200,000 would anything or anyone for very long. I go along with hiring thugs to disrupt lawful protesters during the convention. Maybe I should leave town that week.

GravatarIf Vance has a Cybernetic Operations division, my guess would be they're trying to IP-trace and identify all anti-Bush/Cheney posters and commenters on leftish blogs, except the FBI is undoubtedly already doing that.

GravatarThis can surely be no more than a couple or four dudes, part-time. Consultants. Yeah, "consultants."

GravatarMaybe instead of flooding New York, maybe New Yorkers should leave town during that time. We could start a fund to help those whose means are limited get away. Let the Repug leadership and their disappointed thugs play out their farce in a ghost town.

don't bother, the MediaBorg is probably planning to use Vance Int'l against the NewspaperGuild.

this is a great idea

No way, dude. The media in Europe are just another silent tree falling in the forest. We need to spread this around to our media. If nothing else, then to make them at least aware of this. This story will probably get buried but we need to do everything we can to get this information out there.

GravatarThe Bushies have asked the Irish for immunity in case any of the Bush security folks happen to kill any Irish protesters when Bush visits there.

Maybe this has something to do with that?

GravatarShould have posted the link. Sorry ...

GravatarDon't forget Vance's other two specialties besides their paramilitary biz:

high tech surveillance and personal investigation.

GravatarYou think this is scary? Go read this article on mediatransparency.org:

http://www.mediatransparency.org...es/ apparat.html

Then you'll understand what we're really up against! The funding they're willing to spend, their organization and the lies they're willing to tell are frightening enough but their objective (to reduce American politics to a one-party system)is absolutely bone-chilling.

GravatarI wouldn't be surprised if they were hiring ex-republican guard soldiers and officers.

It would be nice to find out if any of these people are currently on their payroll?

MYOB'
.

GravatarWhy do they need it?

Because government personnel, often sworn to oaths to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic might take those oaths seriously and thus render themselves unreliable to protect the precious personages of the Dear Leader, the minions of the Bush Crime Family, and their various lackies, thugs, and whores.

GravatarThanks 56k.

GravatarAt first we thought that bringing Republican Guard and Taliban onto the re-election team would be too risky. However, after extensive focus group review and refinement we've decided that we wouldn't have a chance relying only on the regular people of America - many of which are liberal, unwashed and not nearly rich enough. The defining moment of decission was when OBL, our Bush-Cheney 2004 Special Middle East Campaign Chairman, gave us the big thumbs up.

Gravatarmukiwadc over at the dKos blog had this comment:

A few posters have suggested this expense may be part of GOP convention "security".  That would surprise me since it's my understanding that virtually everything having to do with the convention is generally paid for from the PARTY coffers, not the campaign itself.  Campaigns usually want to preserve all their money, so the Committees generally pay for the convention.

So this money is probably to provide some kind of service the campaign wants to be able to control very directly and discreetly.  Makes this expenditure all the more curious.

Down payment for the kind of surveillance and investigation services they don't want even the FBI to know about?

GravatarOT, but Atrios, did you see that the guy who created the competing, paper trail-producing version of the voting machines has died in an accident?

http://www.commondreams.org/view...s04/0318- 02.htm

Another bit of scary news.

For their own protection no doubt.

GravatarVance is linked to Wackenhut. Wackenhut is linked to Bush.
Google Wackenhut for some very scary stuff.

Gravatarprobably use Vance for those "Free Speech Zones" at Bush's appearances."
l becker

I hate to point this out, but Democrats will also have these at their convention.

GravatarBad move Democrats, all they need is some security against the random wingnut moran protestor.

GravatarI really wish that the Democrats would change their minds about free speech zones at the convention. I'd like to let them know that I think that is not Democratic and a mistake. Any ideas on the best place to go to tell them about it?

GravatarHit men? Burglars? Hackers? Jeebus, are these CREEPers partying like it's 1968?

GravatarHow did Athan Gibbs die? it doesn't say.

GravatarSkipped down of course. Four Legs, I think you're on the right track, I was also thinking of the convention and the people who will be demonstrating. Nothing like having some paid Thugs going around busting heads, kind of like the union busting these guys have done eh?

Definitely this word needs to get out.

GravatarGood posts here tonight, people.

I am glad to see that we're all starting to agree just how bad this private intelligence/ army tendency is for America and particularly for people like us.

One thing everyone here should realize. They can easily trace us, each and every one, even the man in the gray turtleneck, if they wish. Every one of us that posts here is probably already on a database.

I am not suggesting reticience.

I am not suggesting giving in to the Bu$h crime $yndicate.

I am urging aliases when we do what we have to do to keep this country free. I am urging subterfuge. I am urging circumspection.

I am urging escalation if Kerry does win but can't win the $election in November.

Just be aware: they have the tools to trace us. They have private resources to do so, and they will do so. If we allow it.

GravatarConsider the paid thugs may be paid to incite riots at the Democratic convention, to make it look like Chicago in '68.

GravatarNYC Convention site all ready, commander. We'll start "protester riot" at your go, sir.

Gravatarkelley b.,

Thought about that. Decided I didn't care. What's the worse that could possibly go wrong? It's not like they'll burst through the door and

GravatarAnd who else does Wackenhut provide security for? Anyone, Anyone?

Area 51...

OMG these people are just totally frightening, I sure am glad I'm armed.

GravatarHow did Athan Gibbs die? it doesn't say.

There's a link in the story to an obit in The Tennessean. He died in a car wreck when he pulled in front of an 18-wheeler. The Common Dreams story tries to make it sound fishy, but I kinda doubt it. The interstates here are treacherous, and we get a ton of truckers passing through.

GravatarBad brakes, suppose, hamletta?

GravatarVance does auto repair, too, maybe?

GravatarHow 'bout airplane repair work?

GravatarMaybe we all need to check in on a regular basis, so Atrios can keep track, and alert the proper Authorities if some or a whole bunch of us drop out of sight....

GravatarKelley b., that tin foil chapeau is quite fetching. You must wear it more often.

GravatarKarl Rove probably needs some Agents Provocateur to sprinkle into the crowds at some anti-war protest. After all, the preznit has no goodwill left with the CIA or the FBI. After leaving those boys to hang in the cold driving rain over iraq, sept 11, and every other security related problem since his inauguration, the only friends he has left are the ones bought and paid for. Now Hoover could just pick up the phone and get the job done, but Bush has burnt those bridges. All i can say is 'Thank god', because the less effective shrub is, the less bloody damage he can do before we sling him out on his ass.

GravatarHas anyone actually tried to find the FEC filing's in question? I'm poking around because the FEC link from KOS looks a little dubious.

While this is no doubt a serious matter, is this even really on the level?

Does anyone know how to get the records from the FEC site? I haven't been able to find anything yet and the links on the page linked to from KOS are dead.

GravatarOh Duh, here's a link to the FEC site if anyone is feeling ambitious. I'm going to get some food.

1972.

From an old guy who was there....

GravatarWelcome to the biggest banana republic on the planet.

GravatarRobert M. Jeffers,

This is far creepier than '68-'72. Nixon may have been paranoid and surrounded with ambitious, zealous and crooked goons, but he was still enough of a politician (and yes adhering to the American ideal) to still recognize when to bail. This bunch in charge will never admit wrong, will never show weakness, and will never give up power. AND, and it's a big and, we now have an unholy mix of evangelical-messianic, neo-conservative, Hobbsian, paranoid, ignorant (and proud of it), self-rightcheous, arrogant, and uber-authauritarian idealogy (I'm sure I've missed a few). And they don't give a shit what you and I think. At all! Nada! Zippo! Back Away! Uh uh! Nothing to see here! Move on (oh, wait a minute)! Stop or we'll shoot!

Ahhhhhhh...the good old Nixon days - who'd a thunk.

There too....

Gravatarhamletta: There's a link in the story to an obit in The Tennessean. He died in a car wreck when he pulled in front of an 18-wheeler. The Common Dreams story tries to make it sound fishy, but I kinda doubt it. The interstates here are treacherous, and we get a ton of truckers passing through.

We do. That's because Nashville is roughly 500 mi. radius geocentric to 50% of the U.S. population. Maybe a geographer/social scientist can correct me, or whatever.

Still, I read that obit, and I felt like a safe had landed on my skull.

I'd love to help hook up IT workers who've been "liberated" under our current regime, and see how we could help Gibbs' team continue this important work. E-mail me!
.

GravatarI read this and it reminded me of an article in the most recent Esquire about civilian contractors (legalized mercenaries) in Iraq. It is by Tucker "bow ties make me both edgy and cool" Carlson so it raises as many questions as it answers, but none the less it is very interesting.

GravatarThey do investigation as well as paramilitary. My guess is they are checking out everyone John Kerry shakes hands with to determine if they can finde 6-degrees of separation between that person and a terrorist. Or something like that. Still sick and evil, but perhaps not as paranoid and satanic as one might expect from this bunch.

GravatarNothing sinister.
Just a bunch of wonderful pals of Dick Cheney, who stop by the White House to let George win at poker and armwrestling.

GravatarIt is by Tucker "bow ties make me both edgy and cool" Carlson

That's not reason enough to discount it. Li'l Tucker, as annoying as he is on Crossfire, strikes me as a fundamenally decent guy.

In print, he's OK. Can't remember how good a writer he is, but I recently dug out that debut issue of Talk with the Bush interview, where Bush mocked Karla Fay Tucker.

GravatarI wear my tinfoil with no shame, hamletta.

The current administration has consistently exceded my expectations.

I was born an raised in Nashville. The undercover cops are as thick as fleas there. Nashville is centrally oriented geographically and at an interstate crossroads. And driving is a sport there among the high testosterone crowd, only a few of which bother actually being professional racers.

The middle-of-the-road liberal tradition there personifed by Al Gore is vastly outnumbered by the hardcore fundamentalists: most of the Bibles in the USA are published there.

Nashville has always had a thriving counterculture. As a result, its always been the focus of the TBI, the FBI, and the DEA. Lots of drugs, lots of crazy rednecks trying to show how cool they can be. Lots of undercover cops looking to advance their careers.

I had a few brushes with them.

Even got questioned by the FBI a few times when I lived there.

If there is any place where private contractors might be used to observe, intimidate, or operate, it is right there.

Frankly, hamletta, I do not care if you make fun of my warnings. There are good people on these boards whom I respect that agree with me. There are also a lot of young people that need to know what's going on in this world.

It is what it is.

GravatarThe new Brown Shirts? maybe?

GravatarNow that they've alienated the FBI perhaps they're having to have their dirty work done by outsiders instead of having the FBI do it for them on the taxpayers dime.

GravatarIts just the first salvo in the rich guys' attempts to defund the FBI. Why do they have to pay taxes for a national poluice organization that investigates interstate crimes that hurt ordinary people (and may investigate them for their Enron-type activities), when they could have their own police organization protecting only them and ignoring their crimes?

GravatarCheck out Kos' follow-up on this: 200K is the low estimate:

"Since September 15th, Bush-Cheney Inc. has made 15 payments totaling $626,727.90 to Vance International for "equipment/personnel services."  (Citations can be found below.)  Prior to that, between July 11th, 2003 and August 26th, 2003, the campaign made 7 payments totaling $122,421.78 to Vance Uniformed Protection, a subsidiary of Vance International.  The Bush HQ in Arlington VA occupies several floors of an office building, and upscale office buildings such as this one typically provide security for their tenants.  It's not unreasonable to accept that the Bush campaign would want to have additional security of its own on the floors it occupies, but that requires a far smaller presence than securing an entire building, parking lots, and the surrounding area.  So again, it's hard to imagine that the campaign has standard office security needs that cost $1,500,000.00 per year.  "
