I'MMA LET YOU FINISH

BITCH, MARS, BITCH!

GravatarThis Hamill story has legs because of his sad story of having to SELL his FAMILY dairy farm and still not being able to settle his DEBTS.

So, to SUPPORT HIS FAMILY, he takes a WELL-PAYING job (because there are NO WELL-PAYING jobs in Miss) in Iraq driving a truck.

A complete microcosm of America today.

I hope he comes back okay, I'm his age and I get the feeling that he is a good guy.

Fuckin' Bush.

GravatarHope Hamill makes it.

Frick'ng frist?

GravatarGood luck Rev. Jackson.

I believe Jackson begins a negotiation like this by assuming, and then acknowledging that everyone on each side sees themselves as a hero, trying to do what they think is right.

From there he tries to find some middle ground.

Good luck, Rev. Jackson, I pray you are sucessful in bringing even a small moment of progress.

GravatarCheyne USA that's life! I have an article on my blog about the meaning of the song Born In The USA by Bruce Springsteen. What liberals see in the song is what you just wrote, a poor man's anti-war rant. What Bush supporters see in the song is a poor man saying, yeah, life is a bitch, politicians are bastards, but this is our country. And when duty calls we fight. So the song is not anti-war. What I'm trying to say is life is a bitch, that's not Bush's fault.

GravatarTrent Lott: "You Negroes have such a way with handling people with brown skins. We are trying to give them the gift of the Almighty, just like we gave it to your 'people'. And look how they repay us. So, ungracious, so unthankful. At least you and I worship the same god. Now Jesse, make sure and go into the Hamill house through the kitchen door. And wipe your shoes and if they offer you a drink of water, just say, 'No thank you, suh. I'm fine suh.' Now, do a little softshoe and I'll give you a quarter so you can get some crackers and cheese down at the General Store."

GravatarA slightly different strategy than asking them to hold the hostages until Carter is out...

GravatarHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

GravatarNow the trolls are deconstructing Springsteen for us.....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz......

GravatarI have an article on my blog about the meaning of the song Born In The USA by Bruce Springsteen. What liberals see in the song is what you just wrote, a poor man's anti-war rant. Right. And this is why Springsteen is such a Republican.

GravatarWhen I was 17 I was working in a factory making air conditioners for cars. That was the year "Darkness" came out and there is nothing like pulling into the factory parking lot at 6:30 am in a 65 Falcon with that music playing in the tape deck.

Nobody lectures me on Springsteen, only Springteen.

GravatarSaw an interview on MSNBC with someone who lives in Hamill's hometown. He said the people are mostly dems, but there had been differing opinions about whether or not we should go to war.

Not so much anymore, methinks.

This really pisses me off.

Damn Bush to hell. (I like imagining him there.)

GravatarWhen Bush gets to Hell they will welcome him with flowers.

GravatarTime to alter my will: if by any mischance I am ever captured by hostile forces in a foreign land, and Jesse Jackson offers to "negotiate", my family is to contact said foreign forces and tell them to kill me rather than negotiate with Jesse. Thanks.

Cranky

GravatarCranky, I'd be glad to deliver that note for you.

GravatarCranky, by the way, wills go into effect after you are dead. You need like a "living will" but it sounds like you do not have a will to live.

There's an opening for a truck driver right now if you want to put yout claim to the test.

Jihad, baby.

GravatarDid y'all see Jesse stuff it up Paula Zahn's ass yesterday? It was great.

GravatarWhen Bush gets to Hell they will welcome him with flowers.

Oh, I'm sure they will.

(Exit laughing.)

GravatarOT: Yom HaShoah
At ten in Israel, five and a fifth hours from now, a siren wails and the country stands still. This will be three o'clock Sunday morning Eastern time (or six Pacific). It is the anniversary (by the Jewish lunar calendar) of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising.

GravatarPaula is so fucking stupid she didn't even realize it.

GravatarStrange bedfellows.

GravatarJesus H. Christ in the foothills....

Jesse, do what you can. This is what happens when clowns pretend to be president.

Cant stand any more.

GravatarK&Y: That is so cool how Sharon timed it to coincide with yet another Gaza Ghetto Uprising!

That guy has such a sense of humor!!!!

Those Israeli's, you got to hand it to them, they are consistent. They think it is okay to kill their own leader, Rabin. But they are not prejudiced against the Palestinians, they kill their leaders too!!!!

Of course, they are the Chosen People. I'm a little shakey on this, what did god choose them for again?

Gravatarlife is a bitch, & so is Ricky Vandal.

GravatarWell you know Jackson is just doing this to get attention. You know how he loves those cameras....

(/sarcasm)

BTW, isn't Born in the USA about the worst Springsteen song ever?

GravatarJesse Jackson is a great American. I supported him 1988, I support him now. Jesse keeps hope alive for many many people... not all, not most, but many.

I hope he can add some American presence and perspective that is very under represented right now in IRaq.

We have many great Americans with visions other then Bush, or Kerry. We need more Americans, from all walks of life getting involved in calling for solutions this crisis. I hope other people' like Jesse Jackson, with the talents of talking out crisis start helping too.

Go Jesse, do what you can.

GravatarWow, Ricky fucking Vandal. What a complete idiot.

When Reagan tried to co-opt "Born in the USA" for his '84 campaign, it was an act of cynicism. But Reagan was an old man, and he was running for re-election, so it should be seen in that light. But now Ricky lamely tries to co-opt it, 20 years later, out of profound stupidity and ignorance.

The meaning of the song couldn't be clearer: it's about how Vietnam vets have been fucked over and ill-used by their country. It's about the tragedy of lives destroyed again, not just by death in combat, but by the aftermath of an unjust war. The song is deeply and obviously anti-war.

As subsequent events have unfolded, we've seen Gulf War vets similarly screwed over, and the Iraq War soldiers have got it even worse. So it's timely to recall it now, but not through the grotesque filter of the wingnuts.

GravatarJesse Jackson is a great American. I supported him 1988, I support him now. Jesse keeps hope alive for many many people... not all, not most, but many.

GravatarBorn in the USA is the most militaristic, pro American power and a celebration of our strength song ever. That was Springsteen's idea behind it. Cheney-boy.

GravatarSantorum doggie porn of the day

GravatarJesse has a history of getting hostages out. He's done at least twice and I know he has tried before.

Look, they want publicity, Jesse can bring it. The man has charisma and he is smart (but not smart enough not to get caught about the girlfriend and kid, but those are youthful indescrescions).

If I were a betting man and he can get to the right people over there, it is a "SLAM DUNK", right George Tenet?

You want to see a massacre, Jesse debate GWB. Shit, I'd pay to see that. And GWB can bring Cheney, no sweat.

Gravataroh yeah, don't manually refresh or it double posts...

My apologies

GravatarWho the fuck is this asshole Ricky Vandal. What an unmitigated fucking shit for brains motherfucker.

GravatarOh, I'm sure they will.

(Exit laughing.)
pie

When Duplessis, perhaps the most evil politician Canada ever produced, almost certainly the worst of the 20th century, died the day of his funeral was one of the hotest in Quebec history. They all said that hell was opening up to take him in.

GravatarI thought the most militaristic song was "Give Peace a Chance"?

Everybody knows the best peace song is "Ballad of the Green Beret".

GravatarRicky V's a well-known troll here. He's so transparently stupid that arguing with him is a shooting fish in a barrel proposition. A guaranteed win, but not real challenging.

GravatarThey all said that hell was opening up to take him in.

I can see georgie at the Pearly Gates trying to con St. Peter as he pulls the reject lever.

GravatarVinnie, remember the kid in school that nobody liked?

That's our little Ricky.

Ricky, don't lose that number, it's the only one you have. You can use it when you feel better, when you get home.

Oh wait, it's a draft number from GWB!!!

GravatarRicky V's a well-known troll here. He's so transparently stupid that arguing with him is a shooting fish in a barrel proposition. A guaranteed win, but not real challenging.
zeke

And yet strangely enough, he keeps coming back to absorb more scorn... what kind of freakazoid masochists are these third-string trolls? I sure miss the "Walter Cronkite" Troll.

Just kidding.

GravatarWhy doesn't the dumb fuck just stay on his freeper sites and leave us sane people alone?

GravatarRicky suffers Barren Munchhausen Syndrome by Paroxysm.

GravatarI sort of miss Zozobra, of course that was just one of his names but it was fun while it lasted.

GravatarVinnie, we are trying to get Michael Jackson to come and negotiate our release from Ricky's tyranny.

GravatarJesse Jackson and Trent Lott?

Does Trent Lott know that Bush is going down, and wants to gather mojo points to step into his place leading the Republicans?

Gravatar"Born in the USA is the most militaristic, pro American power and a celebration of our strength song ever. That was Springsteen's idea behind it. Cheney-boy.
Ricky Vandal"

Like I said. Worst Springsteen song.

GravatarYeah, but picking on Ricky sure is fun. I'm just glad he's on the other side.

Oh my God Jenna... oh God... oh Jenna... oh my God...

GravatarAlright I finally found something to laugh at.A friend of mine sent me this try it.

For a good laugh, try this.

1) Go to www.Google.com
2) Type in (but don't hit enter): "weapons of mass destruction".
3) Hit the "I'm feeling lucky" button (DO NOT hit the normal "Google search" button.)
4) READ CAREFULLY what appears to be a normal ERROR message. Make sure you read the whole error message.

Someone at Google apparently has a sense of humor. Try this soon, before someone at Google fixes it!

GravatarTrent's just still trying to prove he's not a racist.

And Jackson has shown some skill in these types of negotiations before. So who gives a shit if he does get on camera for it? I'd say the man's life is definitely a good trade for a little publicity involving Jackson. I hope he succeeds.

GravatarThere are much worse trolls. I got a humongous laugh out of Ricky Vandal's shrine to Jenna Bush. The bizarre fantasy world religion was also pretty creative, although totally unreal. Anybody have that link again?

GravatarBorn in the USA is the most militaristic, pro American power and a celebration of our strength song ever. That was Springsteen's idea behind it. Cheney-boy.
Ricky Vandal

That syntax is so tortured Amnesty International is going to be on your case any minute. You can read Springsteen's mind? That's the most miserably ignorant misinterpretation of that song imaginable. If Eric Alterman were there he'd bitch-slap you silly. Bruce would just shake his head and walk away.
Thanks for the laugh, Ricky Retardo.

GravatarVinnie, we are trying to get Michael Jackson to come and negotiate our release from Ricky's tyranny.

LOL!

GravatarCondiliar is on three morning shows tomorrow. And look at her partners in crime:

FOX NEWS SUNDAY (WTTG), 9 a.m.: Spanish Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar and national security adviser Condoleezza Rice.

FACE THE NATION (CBS, WUSA), 10:30 a.m.: Rice.

THIS WEEK (ABC, WJLA), 11:30 a.m.: English Prime Minister Tony Blair, Rice and Sen. Carl M. Levin (D-Mich.).

On the other two:

MEET THE PRESS (NBC, WRC), 10:30 a.m.: Sen. John F. Kerry (D-Mass.) .

LATE EDITION (CNN), noon: Sens. John W. Warner (R-Va.) and Joseph I. Lieberman (D-Conn.); Gen. Richard B. Myers, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff; Sept. 11 commissioner John F. Lehman; retired Marine Lt. Gen. Robert B. Johnston; and Ralph Nader.

GravatarRicky, do you know anything about the very consistent history of forgetting vets once they had your cum on them? It happened after the Revolutionary, Civil and First World Wars, and in the Eighties there was this "vet conciousness" because a) it also happened after Vietnam, though that got blamed on the pro-vet and largely vet themselves protesters, and because b) as any Aryan or Zionist or Brezhnevite could tell you there is no answer to military failure like the embrace of victimhood-in-name. If we must not have credit for winning, might we at least get credit for losing? So just like the anti-Semites who justify their failures with Baroque conspiracies (indeed, using much the same language, like "the self-hating [insert nationality here] who betrays our troops abroad with his dissent at home and spits at them when they return), America recast a genocidal outburst of racist imperialist violence as a trendy Boomer glorywound.
That was what B/4J was about. "Did you ever think you would live this way?", etc.. Millions of dead nonwhite civilians and what matters is our pain, except when dealing with that means actually doing something for vets.

GravatarLevin will be a breath of frsh air.

Gravatarfresh air!

GravatarEnough about the Vandal already, guys. I wish Hamill all the best - sounds like Jackson's got more of a clue about how to shame the insurgents into releasing the poor sod than the US Army.

Something sounds wrong about what I've just typed.

GravatarBTW, Looks like it was a bloody day in Iraq. At least 9 of our guys were killed today in various actions.

GravatarGooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooo, Jesse!

GravatarActually, I think Barbara is better looking.

Oh my God Barbara... oh God... oh Barbara... oh my God...

GravatarMaybe Ricky is smarter than all of us. While we're lamenting his inability to understand satire, perhaps he's being ironic.

I'll think about that while I call the local radio station and dedicate R.E.M.'s "The One I Love" to my girlfriend.

(Don't tell my wife.....)

GravatarCheney -- I agree completely with your analysis of why this story has legs. This thing was written up in a local Mississippi paper, hit the Guardian a couple days later, and BAM! -- front page of the NYT. I commented (off-topic ) at the time that this was Bush's effect on the economy writ small.

Anyway, at least some more news outlets are paying attention to the downside of this war, as opposed to the (purported) upside oozing from the White House. It is somewhat disheartening, still, that until people can see an individual victim, the issue that leads to his victimization can be so easily ignored. It's the Muscular Dystrophy Telethon approach to foreign policy, in a sense -- nobody gives a darn until somebody cuddly makes it into the papers.

I hope Mr. Hamill is released, for the sake of himself, his family and friends, and so I can hear white Mississippians thanking Jesse Jackson for his good work.

Gravatarfresh air!
yowsa

Frist air? What he gave the cats in college?

Wow. Ricky and I have something in common. We both like Bruce Springsteen.

Springsteen Calls for Bush's Impeachment
Aging rocker Bruce Springsteen added a little political spice to his Washington, D.C., concert at FedEx Field Saturday night when, according to concertgoer accounts, he called for President Bush's impeachment.

"It's time to impeach the president and get a man in there to get us out of this mess," the Boss allegedly roared, according to FreeRepublic.com's Kristinn Taylor, co-leader of the group's D.C. chapter.

GravatarNow look what Ricky did.
He's got some splainin to do.

GravatarI just went to Ricky's site. Jesus! This fucker's not only dumber than a wheel barrow full of weeds, his taste buds must be in his ass.

Gravatarhey guys, leave ricky alone. He is our pet troll and if we make him cry he may run away.

GravatarMore things to make you go hmm:

Kean to Delay:'Who you calling partisan, kemosabe?'

GravatarWhat gives with haloscan sometimes line wrapping and sometimes not? I'm using NS 7.1 .
I've not had this problem before.

Gravatar"Petey, remove your finger fom the *o*."

Gosh. Sorry, fellas. I didn't know.

Atrios really needs to get that fixed.

GravatarRe Born in the USA...
At one point here in New Jersey, the powers-that-be were considering 'Born to Run' as a state song :D

hehehe...

Gravatar"smalfish, it's a website. the links within it lead to merchandise, through "empire" gambling. well, however clever that may be, it's not google doing it.

I thought it was kind of funny,at least I got a laugh out of it and at this point any laugh is a good one.

GravatarThe very sad thing about this poor guy who's a hostage is that it's a medical bill.

Why do Americans have to risk their lives to pay for heart surgery?

Brits don't. French don't. Germans don't. Canadians don't.

Americans can't pay for their own care. It's horrific.

Gravatar"Ptetey, dammit, yuh done broke Haloscan."

This really needs to be fixed, fellas.

I mean, imagine what a group of trolls

could do knowing about this, knowing

about this site's "secret

It'd be like Luke blowing up the Death

Only the fuckin' BAD guys'd win.

I sense a weakness in The Force, atrios.

Take care of it.

GravatarPetey
It's
a
Haloscan
thang.

Gravatar I have an article on my blog about the meaning of the song Born In The USA...

Better hope you never run into Springsteen. He has pieces of guys like you in his stool...

GravatarWhy don't they just contact an American Shia religious figure?

Sheesh.

GravatarJesse is a friend, yeah, I know he's been a good friend of mine.
But lately something's changed that ain't hard to define.
Jesse's got himself a girl and I want to make her mine.

And she's watching him with those eyes.
And she's lovin' him with that body, I just know it.
Yeah 'n' he's holding her in his arms late, late at night.

You know, I wish that I had Jesse's girl, I wish that I had Jesse's girl.

Sorry, I couldn't hep myself; may Mel Gibson's Jeebus (v.MMIV) please forgive me.

GravatarIf I have this right my government shrinks to drain down my bathtub and while I'm cleaning the tub, what kinds of dogs do I need to know will be let in to attack me, I mean how will I know which kinds of dogs to look out for while I'm cleaning my government.

GravatarAll- when dealing with Mr. Vandal. just be aware. He's never worked, he hasn't been through school, he's not a Vet. He doesn't pay taxes. He's never been married. I doubt he's voted.
He just takes a stance at the opposite extreme from whatever he takes to be the "liberal" position, as defined by Hannity, Rush, et al.
He's delighted with his own cleverness.
Maybe he could start blogging from Fullujah. But that would require that he actually do something.
Or maybe he'll marry Jenna Bush.

GravatarOT, but headline of the day:

Bush Lied About Iraq Talk

I realize it's SF and all, and online at that, but is this the first time the words "Bush Lied" have been seen in a mainstream news setting?

GravatarThis really needs to be fixed, fellas.

I mean, imagine what a group of trolls

I guess Atrios would just delete the offending post
and Haloscan would right itself...

GravatarWow heres an under reported story for ya.Bush trying to hide his records with a change in the archives division.

Concern is growing within the archival and historical communities regarding the Bush administration's hoped for "fast-track" process to replace Archivist of the United States John Carlin with one of its own choosing -- historian Allen Weinstein. According to informed sources, the administration hopes to short-circuit the normal confirmation process and see Weinstein confirmed through an "expedited" process. Their goal
-- place Weinstein in the position prior to the November election.

According to Hill insiders, the effort to replace Carlin is coming from the highest levels of the White House. Reportedly, Karl Rove who is widely viewed as one of the president's chief political advisors, if not his political mastermind and, Alberto R. Gonzales, Counsel to the President, want their own archivist in place for two overarching reasons: first, because of the sensitive nature of certain presidential and executive department records likely to be opened in the near future, and second, because there is genuine concern in the White House that the president may not be re-elected.

Though it is not widely known, in January 2005, the first batch of records (the mandatory 12 years of closure having passed) relating to the president's father's administration will be subject to the Presidential Records Act (PRA) and could be opened. Another area of concern to presidential officials relates to the 9-11 Commission records. Because there is no mandatory 30-year closure rule (except for highly classified White House and Executive Department records and documents), all materials relating to the commission are scheduled to be transferred to the National Archives upon termination of the Commission later this year. These records could be made available to researchers and journalists as soon as they are processed by NARA.

SOmething needs to be done here.We need to make sure the dems fillibuster this nominee. If bush gets to hide his records we will not see the details of 9/11 in our lifetimes.I wish to get a look at the real details after he leaves office and that wont happen if the dmes give in on this issue. It needs to be heard loud and far.

GravatarDamn haloscan!

Gosh, I feel like Richard Clarke.

Gravatarwow, so those Sons of the Fatherland really do have all the courtesy and charm of the Bowling movie...

GravatarPetey-especially since it's sort of partially the fault of persons relatively concurrent with YOU

GravatarMore of this please:

Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., said Friday he is tired of having his commitment to national security questioned by Republicans who never served in the military, and he singled out Vice President Dick Cheney and White House senior adviser Karl Rove by name, saying they "went out of their way to avoid" service during the Vietnam War.

In unusually pointed and personal language, Kerry condemned his rivals, who are airing a television commercial that questions the judgment of the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee on national security issues and attacks him for voting against the $87 billion authorization funding for Iraq and Afghanistan.

"I'm tired of these Republicans who spend so much time denigrating Democrats and other peoples' commitment to the defense of our nation," Kerry said at a rally on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh.

"I'm tired of Karl Rove and Dick Cheney and a bunch of people who went out of their way to avoid their chance to serve when they had the chance. I went (to Vietnam). I'm not going listen to them talk to me about patriotism."

Kerry's attack on Cheney and Rove triggered another heated exchange between the two campaigns as Republicans publicly rebutted and privately seethed over the Massachusetts senator's remarks. Both sides accused the other of hypocrisy over an issue that continues to take center stage in the presidential campaign.

This was not the first time Kerry has lashed out in this way at Republicans for challenging critics of Bush's war policy. But he went farther by singling out Cheney and Rove.

Kerry, a decorated combat veteran in Vietnam, accused the White House of a "twisted sense of ethics and morality" for past political attacks on Vietnam veterans Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., who was a prisoner of war, and former senator Max Cleland, D-Ga., who lost an arm and two legs in Vietnam.

He added, "They don't think twice about trying to pretend to America that I somehow don't care about the defense of our nation."

With two huge American flags framing the rally site, Kerry said he had seen the flag "draped over the coffins of friends." He closed by saying, "The political bombs may be bursting around us as they try to distort the truth. But when I look up, that flag is still there and it belongs to all Americans, not to them, not to a party, it belongs to us, and we are going to march forward and reclaim the democracy of our country."

GravatarWE ARE HIGHLY VULNERABLE!!!

Cheese, stifle it! Don't give the mooks any ideas!

GravatarRicky, darling, when you sign up for a hitch in Iraq and it's your ugly mug on Al Jezeera, we'll take your advice and say, "Ah, well, life's a bitch, ennit?? Ain't Bush's fault ole Ricky Vandal's gonna get his throat slit by a bunch of Islamic thugs - hey, let's go shopping and spend our tax cut check, yeah!"

GravatarKei and Yuri, are you two people? or are you a married gay couple? I have never heard anything sensible come ut of your mouth. Just extreme left wing stuff.

GravatarBack on topic:
If Trent Lott shakes hands with Jesse Jackson,
does the universe end?

Gravatardave: YEEEEEEAAAAAAHHHHHHH!

GravatarRicky, given the sensible Jenna obsession and the sensible (if inexplicably Patriarchal) Amazones, what the fuck high whitish horse are you snorting?

GravatarOT and WTF

Why has Saturday Night Live lost its balls? Opening with a Gore slam?

WTF

Gravataroh, rp

GravatarThese guys really do live in their own little fantasy world:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp...- 2004Apr17.html

Rove had gone to Crawford to brief Bush on the confidential plan for Bush's 2004 reelection campaign. While Laura Bush sat reading a book, Rove gave a PowerPoint presentation on the campaign's strategy, themes and timetable.

Opening his laptop, he displayed for Bush in bold letters on a dark blue background:

PERSONA:

Strong Leader

Bold Action

Big Ideas

Peace in World

More Compassionate America

Cares About People Like Me

GravatarRicky says K&Y are not sensible!

GravatarTena could fix this situation.
Where's Tena?

GravatarI LOVE JESSE.

GravatarMister X,

That is EXACTLY what we need more of.

Get pissed. Get fired up.

Is it wrong to utterly despise (i.e.; 'HATE') Republicans who behave like those in the article above (i.e.; 95% of those who proclaim themselves 'Republican', 'right wing', 'conservative') with every ounce of one's being? Just asking...

Gravatardoes anyone share my feeling how great it would be to have a threesome with the Bush daughters on the Oval Office desk?

Uh, oh I hear helicopters outside my window......

GravatarSo this is what it means when folks warn about Haloscan "breaking."

It sucks. I'm outta here.

Oh, but not before I note that the U.S. has been criticizing Al Jazeera and killing its workers, but now we want its help?

Al Jazeera to U.S.: Sure, we'll help get your guy out. But first Bush and Rumsfeld have to go on national TV, hold hands and repeat after Cpl. Klinger: "Olive skin makes good kin."

GravatarRove:
George, you are getting sleeee-peeeee.
Repeat after me:

>Every non-rehearsed speech he gives is the same inarticulate mumbling of repetitive, infantile comic-book cliches.

Peace in World
>What color is the sky on this world? It sure ain't planet Earth. Doesn't jibe with "All Terror, All the Time" rhetoric.

More Compassionate America
>You've been prez for your years, Chimp. People aren't buying your pie-in-the-sky fibs anymore, you have to run on your record. Let's ask John DiIulio about your commitment to oxymoronic 'compassionate conservatism'.

>Dr. Stangefeld, incompetent Condosleaza, corrupt Dick, toady Colin, Ayatollah Ashcroft.

GravatarIf you were not wise enough to avoid taking a job in the middle of a war where the folks there hate you, can you at least not act suprised they kidnapped you and are using you hostage.

What you want to bet they won't film him having his head chopped off. See they deal in tactics designed to induce terror. Until we can counter with a severe and swift an action we will be percieved as weak in the Middle East.

Strength does not negotiate.

Gravataras noted up-thread, Jamie Gorelick has been receiving death threats and a bomb threat also, from right-wingers provoked by conservative attacks on her.

There are terrorists among us. Somehow I have little faith that Ashcroft will use that oh-so-vital Patriot Act to go after these right-wing terrorists.

Gravatar

Uh huh. Sure it is, RV. Tell you what. next time The Boss is in your area for a concert or any little ol thing, why don't you just go on over to him and repeat that. See what it gets ya.

Oh. and be sure to have someone take pictures of the WHOLE THING. I mean the ENTIRE BEATING you will get, whether it's verbal or physical. It'll be great for posting on your website.

GravatarThe Boss giving Rick Vandal a beatdown? That would be funny, not that I enjoy slapstick violence.

PS I believe RV is a very funny individual who revels in portraying his political opposite to great effect.

GravatarRicky Vandal is a put on, guys, ok? He may fantasize about jenna jacking off, though it is sorta a stretch, but letting the world know??
Way over the top, way over.
Fucker's good though. Real good.
It is getting a wee bit tiresome, though.

GravatarChecked out the google for weapons of mass destruction- I'm feeling lucky button. Wow! That was like the funniest thing I've seen in a long time. Of course, my mid-twenties son tells me that it has been that way for over a year. Always so far behind, but learning none the less.
California, nice dissection of the proposed campaign. The first post I read about that campaign approach I thought Karl was showing GWB what the Kerry camp was doing, since their (our) man is a lot more like the description.

GravatarRicky Vandal's not that bad, although I did prefer JC Christian, Patriot. He had a great sense of humor.

It's amazing how many people haven't caught on to RV. They diligently respond like he's a real person. Scrolling through the responses is much more tiresome, IMHO.

GravatarIraqis speak:

another Iraqi habit.
In the summer, the hot Iraqi summer, people put cold water in big jars in front of their houses, with a glass, so you can drink if you passed in front of their houses, without taking permission of course....Know what?
People in Falluja, the small beloved city, are that kind of people...would sacrifice anything to help you, very simple people, and religious mostly, very simple, really simple.
Those people are the ones that are being killed, their houses are being destroyed, their women and children are being killed, those particular people.

Bush decided to make a move today… he announced the neo-Balfour Declaration, and gave the house of my grandfather as a gift to Sharon. Please! UN resolutions? Road map? anyone? hello?...

...I am a secular leftist! But I am angry!!!!
Can you imagine what do other millions of right winged religious people feel????
I can’t even concentrate and know if my words will make any sense!!

The hate and anger of the Arab people today is unbelievable!!!, Palestinians Iraqis Jordanians Egyptians Syrians … the hate against Bush and his administration is huge now… enormous … ENORMOUS!!!!!!
Everyone believes that Bush is giving the green light for Sharon to kill their leaders, and everyone thinks that Iraq, Falluja, Najaf and every other city would face the same Palestinian destiny if they didn’t fight Against the American army now... Isn’t this the time for the American people to take their role in the democratic country they built and let their voice be heard?

Isn’t this the right time to stop the neo-cons who hijacked the American government??

It is the time!!
Please!

Gravatarhmmm.

GravatarThis is a little OT but important I think.
There have been two (unreliable because of the source) stories in the Iran news about WMD being brought INTO Iraq from Basra by US forces for he purpose of planting.
There was conjecture, probably since it was such a numbnuts move to close the newspaper, that this uprising was wanted to provide cover for the planting. Sounds really conspiratorial, except I just heard on the news that US forces have now closed the major roads north AND south of Bahgdad to civilians. I don't recall them ever doing that before...and it makes you wonder if they just want to keep out prying eyes. I don't think Bush would have any compunction about planting since in his mind "they DO have them, we just can't find them" it'd be like a cop justifying planting evidence when he knows they are guilty.

One other thing...the other day they had a big story about finding a MIG buried, encased in plastic. The US forces apparently had been literally walking over it the whole time without knowing it was there. (they don't use metal detectors to check for mines??).

Maybe I'm getting conspiracy minded...and it is all on the level.
I don't know.

Gravataramurca deserves BUSH

OT: didja hear about the one where Cheney's tax return was at a lower tax rate than mine - and I make

GravatarAt ten in Israel, five and a fifth hours from now, a siren wails and the country stands still.
kei & yuri

And soon will be the anniversary of the founding of Israel -- a day in which Israeli Arabs boycott gov't businesses, don't drive or take buses, etc.

GravatarPixie, you can't tell the difference between the real rightards and the satirical spoofs anymore. That's how bad it's gotten.

Ricky Vandal, I'm still not so sure he's a put-on. Why did he ban me from making comments at his site if he's just a put-on?

GravatarThere's a good article about Bobby Muller,
the Vietnam vet who inspired "Born In the USA"

http://www.vvaf.org/about/ muller...stonglobe.shtml

"Springsteen invited Muller to the Hit Factory, a recording studio in New York City, to hear the song. Springsteen later wrote that Muller ''sat there for a moment listening to the first couple of verses, and then a big smile crossed his face.''

As Muller recalls it: ''Bruce said, `Did I get it?' I said, `You got it, man.' ''

But many people didn't get it. The Reagan White House used the song to introduce President Reagan at political rallies, and Reagan himself mentioned in one speech how admired Springsteen had become. The song's thumping beat and catchy chorus sounded jingoistic if a listener ignored phrases such as: ''I had a buddy at Khe Sahn fighting off the Viet Cong/They're still there, he's all gone.''

Gravatar5 Marines killed Sunday in Iraq

CNN has absolutely nothing on this. I know they're whores and nothing more than an extension of the GOP re-election committee, but simply ignoring the news??

What happened to a once-proud news organization??

GravatarIt's amazing how many people haven't caught on to RV. They diligently respond like he's a real person. pixie

Pixie, have you looked at his homepage? Some put-on ...

As to Springsteen, he's openly admitted he's a liberal -- how off base can Ricky be on his other observations? He just should admit all they have on his side is sappy, jingoistic shit.

Gravatarcleveland sez: OT: didja hear about the one where Cheney's tax return was at a lower tax rate than mine - and I make less than 100,000!

Hey, guess what, his FICA rate was lower than yours too. Way lower than yours.

GravatarBlair on WMD on "This Week":

"I think there are something like 130 muntitions sites, and to this point only about 30 of them have been secured......"

And this he says in support of himself and his position that WMD will eventually be found. A full year after the we-busted-it-we-bought-it extravaganza in the Tigris-Euphrates River Basin.

I need a cup of tea and a lie-down.

GravatarMy name is Diane Hattula. I am an artist living in Escondido, California.
Please take a second to read my message and, if you agree with it, please
pass it on to your friends.

Unlike last election, most of us are now united in our opposition to President Bush and in
our
support of the Democratic candidate Kerry.

But our unity will not be enough.

I hope to persuade you to participate in the coming campaign in a new way - to seek out
Republican and independent voters and discuss the election and the future of our
country
with them. Casual political conversations are no longer socially taboo
for a good reason - if democracy is to work, we have to talk to each other. And
advertising research tells us that the most effective promotional strategies
involve "word of mouth" campaigns.

Republican and independent voters are most receptive to arguments based on the
Republican economic
assault on the middle class and the environment. Many voters presently have a skewed
understanding of these issues. I have devoted my web site, to presenting easy
to read charts which dramatically demonstrate how Republican
policies are harming ordinary Americans.
I alsopresent these charts in wallet-size "cut out" form.

Again, if you agree with this message, please forward it to other Democratic-leaning voters that you
know. Together we can really make a difference!

GravatarOT

Ha, Timmy seems to be getting the shocky poo of his life, he simply did not expect a robust, stalwart and forceful John Kerry who is forceful about advancing the ball down the field.

Gosh, Kerry is giving it to him strong and robust and Kerry will just keep on coming.

Behind all that kindly, genteel Massachusetts, the dude is stalwart and forceful and he smacked down Timmy like a pro .
.....

GravatarOT more on MTP:

Timmy is like whhaaaaa, oh boo hoo, you’re gonna keep on hammering Bush, bwahahahaa

And Kerry is like Yeah.
.....

Excellent points, Kerry

Keep on rocking!

GravatarWhy is Halliburton paying Americans big bucks to drive trucks in iraq? That's so 1950s. Haven't they heard you can hire people from India and the Phillipines for half the cost? Jeez, what kind of big American company are they? Next thing you know we'll hear that they actually pay taxes.

GravatarDon't blame the victim, Petey.

That said, if Haloscan can automatically limit number of characters in a post, why can't it automatically insert a line break or whatever else it takes instead of breaking? Or even just reject the comment with an error message. It must be possible.

A broken thread is a ruined thread, suitable only for skimming; it's way too damn much trouble to keep zig-zagging left and right. IMHO.

GravatarBruce Springsteen was calling for Bush's impeachment 6 months ago.

GravatarBorn in the USA is the worst springsteen song. i haven't really listened to him in 20 years, but he's a real mensch. They should name the Garden State Parkway after him.

GravatarYes, what happened to that poor chump?
Nothing today on the Washpost or CNN
webpage, other than a vague post on CNN about the Pope asking for ALL the hostages to be released.
In any case, our local repug rag gave major front page play to this story yesterday. Yes, they were deeply concerned. A few Iraqi "thugs", for some unknown reason, capturing an innocent American. (Nuke em All?)
However, for some reason, not a word today? Could it be that in some winger circles the horrid JJ is as much reviled as the worst of Al-qaida?
...or Hillary Clinton!

GravatarCalifornia, one suggestion for your PERSONA list:

Cares About People Like Me

"Who cares what you think."
(GWB quote)

GravatarI have not read it anywhere but isn't he simply a mercenary?

GravatarWhenever Ricky makes a comment, I realize how important it is that late term abortions be made legal again...you get me?

GravatarMaybe this has come up, but I pasted
the whole comments page into Word,
then deleted some of the big oooops. Voila, I can read. Which is *definitel*
worth it.

Gravataroops, I mean "definitely".

GravatarI hate this! It posts every stupid thing
I type in. Now everyone is going to
flame me. (We could, I guesse, all
learn to hit CR, to defeat the
mennace ... everything in narrow columns ... )

This is the best reading. Thanks to all.
