As someone who lives in the 11th District and volunteers on Patsy's campaign. I'd like to add my thanks to everyone that has made a donation. Patsy Keever is an awesome human being and is going to make a great Congresswoman. We love you Patsy and we love you too Atrios!

BTW, I wanted to thank Atrios for his support of the Keever campaign by sending him a present from his Amazon wishlist, but alas I can't figure it out. If I click on an item it shows up in my cart with my address. The address listed for him is Atrios Smith - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I know he's becoming a well-known personality, but I somehow doubt that the item would arrive where intended. If anyone knows how to do it, please let me know. My e-mail address is correct. TIA!

Atrios, I think we need to maybe direct some turkee to Louisiana...
BATON ROUGE, La. - Rep. Rodney Alexander switched his party affiliation to Republican on Friday — making the surprise flip in the last minute of registration for the Nov. 2 ballot, virtually assuring the seat for the GOP.
[snip]
Alexander’s decision leaves House Republicans with 229 seats to 205 for the Democrats with one Democratic-leaning independent. With the switch, Democrats must now gain 12 seats this fall to win the majority.
There is another strong Republican in the three-candidate field: Jock Scott, a former state representative from Alexandria. The remaining Democrat is Zelma “Tisa” Blakes, of Monroe, a political newcomer who called herself a “domestic engineer” when she qualified on Wednesday.
Alexander announced publically in March that he would remain a Democrat.

Go to the message board.
Tell Dana Brunetti, who owns the site what you think of him organizing the Republicans for Nader sinature campaign.

Atrios, your a force. I hope after the election is over, all of you big time bloggers who raised big time cash will put your minds to the task of figuring out what your impact was, how effective you were at going about it, and where to go next.
George Bush isn't the only one shaking in his boots. The press must be pretty scared of bloggers forcing them to do their jobs, which they forgot how to do.
I didn't look at that website, but that 'Repubs for Kerry' thing is so disgusting. There may be no such thing as misusing democracy, since it's all ultimately up to the voters - but if there is such a thing, this is an example of it.

Zombiebirdhouse:
Shipping addresses are hidden on Amazon's wish lists. So Atrios has given them him address, and it will be shipped to that address, but you can't see the full address (just city and state). So go ahead and ship, and it'll get there just fine.
The Congressman Challenger Keever is running against is also a millionaire who can help himself finance his flailing campaign. It makes the contributions here count that much more.

There's an old saying in Tennessee I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee that says, fool me once, shame on shame on you. Fool me...
We won't get fooled again.
I think it worked! Be on the lookout for Quadrophenia, Atrios.

Wait a minute..
She has the support of the NEA...?
Doesn't that make her a communist who wants terrorists and homosexuals to teach our kids morals?
Now that is a candidate I want! Bring her to Washington I say!! We need a few good people there willing to bring the righteousness of sodomy, beastiality, satan worship, baby eating, communism, and NASCAR to the listless conservative souls of America!
Now if only we could get the NRA to endorse her then she'd be the complete, and perfect, anti-christ package in the form of Obama!
BTW, Didn't Trigger Street just launch recently? I remember hearing about it a year or so back but couldn't find it. I guess this is some form of "guerilla marketing" campaign for Trigger Street.
You know this audience is hip and smart enough to see this kind of stuff so if you just wrote: :OT- but trigger street just launched and some screen writers are somewhat anti-bush which is cool so check it out." and it would have been cooler.

Best of luck and don't forget...Vote Kerry in November.

A name stealing (holden) troll who was booted off Triggerstreet. Also, Dana Brunetti is not a bush supporter at all. This is nonsense.

According to this and other reports, the administration has managed to take a success and hopelessly bungle it.
Can they be more incompetent?

I wanted to hear the crowd laughing at Bush explaining 'sovereignty' but the CSPAN clip won't load. I wish someone would post it on the web. It's helpful to see a roomful of people laughing at the chimp.

Sorry, way OT, but has anyone heard about this new way of getting voters off the rolls by sending in change of address forms for them? I got the link from Cursor; this seems to be the original livejournal post:
Sorry to separate it like that but I don't want to break Haloscan and I'm shamefully ignorant of how to make it appear as a link (anyone spare the time to help me out?). You can also get to it by going to www.cursor.org and scrolling down to I think August 5.
Anyway, I usually don't post stuff like this, and not on an off-topic thread anyway, but it shocked me and I really want to know if anyone has seen reports of this anywhere else.

It's all very simple if you understand one simple underlying principle. Nothing is more important to the administration than getting reelected. Any action they take is one directed toward this goal. The security and the health and prosperity of the nation takes a backseat to this overriding goal.

OOOOOPS, my bad...I went back to the original livejournal post and at the end, there's an update in which the poster says that the Election Board eventually found out that in his case at least, it was a legitimate mistake. Sorry! (blushing)

Yeah, and Kerry better beef up his secret service security because there's no way in hell's hades that they're going to just hand over power after they lose the election. I've got a really bad feeling about the next three months.

I mean anyone remember their skit on "How not to be seen"?

I'm kind of surprised that Atrios isn't linking to the MSNBC article. Maybe its getting to be routine, but the exposure of an effective agent for political gain should still get the blood pressure elevated. Ah well, its his blog, I'm just riding on it.

Yes. What's really scary is how many Monty Python skits come to mind with these bozos.
Re: Condi and the "nobody ever imagined hijacking planes and..."
I'm remembering, " Well, nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition"
Add me to the list of NC-11ers who've devoted hours of time to Patsy's campaign, and really appreciate Atrios raising awareness here. This is a winnable one. There's a momentum and enthusiasm across the district that you can taste in the air.
Western NC? I'd bet that includes the Murphy/Andrews area, where I've got kin.
Yep: the 11th is everything from Black Mountain westward right up to the GA and TN borders. If you've visited the Great Smokies National Park, and don't want Charles Taylor's pork-barrel freeway running through it, then support Patsy. If you want someone to talk about the smog that blows over WNC from the Tennessee Valley, support Patsy. If you've travelled down the Blue Ridge to Asheville on vacation, support Patsy.
(We like her lots.)

There's a good Democratic candidate for Congress here in the 5th District, New Jersey. Anne Wolfe (www.wolfe2004congress.com) is opposing Scott Garrett, a first-term GOP incumbent who is a rabidly pro-gun anti-choice pro-tax-cut wingnut, and who is way out of sync with a district that elected a moderate Republican, Marge Roukema, for decades. Send Anne some turkee ...
