RNC tries to run away:
Delegate Wears 'Purple Heart' Bandages
Tue Aug 31,12:11 AM ET
By WILL LESTER, Associated Press Writer
NEW YORK - A GOP delegate handed out bandages with purple hearts on them Monday night at the Republican National Convention in a swipe at Democratic nominee John Kerry's war record, but national GOP officials have asked him to stop.
...
GOP Chairman Ed Gillespie spoke to Blackwell and they agreed that he would not distribute the bandages Tuesday night," said Republican spokesman Jim Dyke. "This was not a party activity, but he was acting as an individual."

Well, I at least have some satisfaction knowing that when they die, they don't get to go to paradise--they only become worm dirt.
You know what would be great? There's this big black wall in Washington. They could pass out their band-aids in front of that. Yeah, that would be pretty fucking hilarious.

I posted this at Gilliards last night:
Kerry/Edwards are smart enough guys, as Bill Clinton says of himself, "in certain ways".
But, if the gloves are still on after this week, we'll know they're nowhere near smart enough to defeat the GOP swineherd.
For Starters:
Kerry should grab himself more than a few these "bandaids", and wear them on his fist throughout the remainder of the campaign.
He should pointedly refer to them during his stump speeches-- without a speechwriter's words, and from the heart. Then he should explain what it is that a purple heart represents to those that have earned one, to those who might earn one today, and to those the nation prays will never be called on to accept one.
He should express his incredulity that any decent American should ever attempt to diminish that meaning, much less diminish it it the name of political slander.
Having done that, he could then pose these righteous questions:
Does GW Bush still believe he catapulted over a waiting list of 100,000 Texans, without benefit of influence?
Why did he refuse to submit to a flight physical in 1972, as he was duty bound to submit?
And where is the proof that he reported to the Alabama Guard, as he swears he did?
Why hasn't he released ALL service records pertaining to those years, as he swore to do?
In all, adroitly spoken, it might consume 3 minutes of a speech.
To reiterate, if their gloves are still ON after the GOP convention, Kerry/Edwards will have fucked up egregiously.

NPR mentioned it this morning, hardly in glowing terms of approbation. Also mentioned the RNC has asked Blackwell to stop distributing the things.
Another stunning success!
Yeah, I'd say the GOP is looking real good right about now. Running solely (apparently) on 9/11; bashing veterans who all got band-aids called "Purple Hearts."

Can you imagine the media backlash that would have occurred if Clinton supporters had pulled a stunt like this (to protest Bob Dole's first Purple Heart) during the 1996 DNC?
The David Broders, Tim Russerts, and Wolf Blitzers in the mainstream media would have crucified the Dems for such an act. Since it is Republicans doing the smearing, however, I expect that they will just chuckle and shrug it off.

The Republicans obviously see the insult to the many thousands of veterans who have received purple hearts for relatively minor combat wounds as mere collateral damage in their war to snuff out any and all opposition. What's bit of damaged pride and diminished status among combat veterans if it means the destruction of the hated John Kerry? Whining vets who got scratched in 'Nam and carry itty bitty bits of shrapnel in their bodies should just suck it up and be tough like Dubya and Dick.

John Kerry-Thrower of Ashes and Render of Clothes- Stop Your Tantrums
Kerry and his Democrat wailer's are nothing but a bunch of crybabies. Kerry has been quoted saying more than once, "Bring it on," so when it gets brought on what does Kerry and his attack dogs do? They start whining, instead of pushing back with facts to refute "The Swiftboat Veterans." Kerry cries, to a firefighters' union conference in Boston, "The president keeps telling people he would never question my service to our country. Instead, he watches as a Republican-funded attack group does just that," Waaaaaaaaaaaa!

The Nazis made fun of Jewish vets of WWI. They then went from that to accusing them of losing the war and then went to accusing them of conspiring to lose the war and thus were all traitors and then used that as an excuse to kill all Jews during wartime.
See the lines here? It is the exact same.
The GOP which is mostly white southerners, have set up the Jews to be the fall guys again as well as attacking the patriotism of real patriots, it is very unsettling watching all of this since the end will be WWIII.
Bush and Cheney have raised the amount spent building bomb shelters from near zero to $600+million this year alone. Each year, they have invested huge sums of money in building bomb shelters as they prepare feverishly for the Apocalypse.

Republican delegates were sporting arm bandages with purple hearts last night, obviously making light of John Kerry's medals. Most of the current administration found ways of avoiding service in Vietnam (or military service at all) but supported that war. Now a decorated veteran is dishonored by them and their minions. These people have no shame. They only care about winning, at any cost. The truly sad part is how many millions of Americans blindly go along with this and will vote for the very people who perpetrate these lies.

Problem for the rest of the world is that even those these creeps will lose the election, they ain't going away.
Most people, even for trivial reasons such as looks or speech patterns, at least attempt to CHOOSE a candidate to support. Hopefully, they make these choices based upon serious issues. I've come to understand, though, that most self-described "conservatives" these days do not choose anything. They are BORN into the GOP and the GOP candidate is like a distant relative to them. They literally do not feel they can disown the candidate no matter how they personally feel about them or their behavior. This "family" allegiance is why they will follow W unto death and destruction. Think of the Hatfields and McCoys.
What shall we do?

I have a Bro that did that also at K.I. Sawyer (now defunct) in the U.P. of Michigan. He stood around B-52's his entire enlistment.
I did 6 in the Marines and about 9 in the Army National Guard.
Finally got sick of the politics. Tried to go to Gulf 1, but my unit was 'overstrength'. They pissed me off. Ready to go this time also, until a Master Gunny at HQMC talked some sense into me about my Rheumatoid Arthritis. I passed the PFT for my age group.
Sucks that another generation of Vets are now getting fucked in the ass by a bunch of lying ass politicians and chickenhawk self serving cocksuckers.
Just wait until they try to use their VA benefits, if they have any.

ABC News the Note today says that Democrats are concerned that they are up against an opponent that lives by the following rules of politics:
First Rule of Politics: "It ain't beanbag."
Second Rule of Politics: "Never lose control of your public image, but force your opponent to lose control of his."
Third Rule of Politics: "In times of battle, all hands on deck."
Fourth Rule of Politics: "Keep your candidate above the fray, but force your opponent to debate and defend against surrogates and shadowy, ferocious enemies."
Fifth Rule of Politics: "Say thing that get under your opponent's skin, and which will sound so implausible to his ear that at first he won't bother to defend himself."
The BushCo team is scum and the Dems. need to go after them with an equal level of ferocity!

For the faint of heart - the election starts at the end of repugnant convention after the man who sent good American kids to die for nothing (lies? you want lies? 250,000 gallons of anthrax biological weapons chemical weapons ad nauseum - turns out, no WMD's no ties to al-Queda - sorry you back alley sprog) gives his speech Thursday night - Two hours later Kerry will be kicking it off in Ohio - This is a man who turned his boat into the line of fire and attacked -
Kerry is a smart able man (ask Weld who had a twenty point lead on Kerry) - a wonk to be sure, but it's a job that needs a wonk not a two-faced lying hypocrite who feeds his corporate buddies Billions of US tax dollars - anyone who still thinks he's an okay guy is deranged or on the payroll
Relax - stop complaining about what he's doing and make sure everyone you know knows the truth about what Bush has done - We're part of the grassroots - aint' it excitin'?

The answer to this is NOT pleading with the GOP to disown these tactics. That just makes the Dems look like the wussies that they are.
The answer is to speak to the VFW posts around the country and let them know that the Republican draft dodgers are making fun of the wounds they suffered serving their country. I can't imagine anything more offensive to an actual veteran than making fun of the Purple Heart.
"The Republican Party sends you off to fight wars, while they have 'other priorities' like cavorting with secretaries at the pool, and then makes fun of you for being injured serving your country. It's no wonder the Republicans are opposed to giving you the medical treatment you deserve. They mock your service."

"This is a man who turned his boat into the line of fire and attacked -"
While in command of Swift Boat 44, Kerry and crew operated without prudence in a Free Fire Zone, carelessly firing at targets of opportunity racking up a number of enemy kills and some civilians. His body count included-- a woman, her baby, a 12 year-old boy, an elderly man and several South Vietnamese soldiers.
"It is one of those terrible things, and I'll never forget, ever, the sight of that child," Kerry later said about the dead baby. "But there was nothing that anybody could have done about it. It was the only instance of that happening."
Something to truly be proud of....can we now address his royal ass as babykiller?

WHO'S THAT KNOCKIN' AT MY DOOR
HAVE I HEARD THAT KNOCK BEFORE
IS IT EVIL TRYIN' TO GET INTO MY ROOM
WHO'S THAT TAPPIN' AT MY WINDOW
WHO'S CALLIN ME TO GO
TO A PLACE THAT'S FILLED WITH DARK AND GLOOM
OH THIS LIFE THAT I'M LIVIN'
IT SEEMS SO UNFORGIVIN'
I FIND TROUBLE EVERYWHERE THAT I GO
I ALWAYS SEEK IT FIRST
JUST TO QUENCH MY BURNIN' THIRST
IN WATERS THAT ARE COOL AS FALLIN' SNOW
BUT THE WATERS ARE OH SO DEEP
WHAT YOU SOW YOU MUST REAP
NOW I HEAR HER KNOCKIN' AT MY DOOR
IT'S EVIL STANDIN' OUTSIDE
THERE'S NO PLACE TO RUN AND HIDE
CLUTCHED MY SOUL AND PRESSED MY TO THE FLOOR
OH I'VE BEEN DOWN THAT PATHWAY
IT ALWAYS LEADS THE WRONG WAY
BUT THIS TIME I DON'T THINK I'LL BE BACK
IT'S LIKE A FREIGHT TRAIN PULLIN' ME
THERE'S A DARK TUNNEL AHEAD I SEE
THIS TRAIN'S GOIN' DOWN A ONE-WAY TRACK

If only Kerry received his differment to study in Paris we wouldn't be having this damn arguement.
He joined the Naval Reserve which should have kept him out of action but he had the bad luck to get called up.
"The answer to this is NOT pleading with the GOP to disown these tactics. That just makes the Dems look like the wussies that they are."
I think for media consumption the Dems do need to ask (not plead) the GOP to disown these tactics. These whiney cocksuckers need to be shamed and put on the defensive in the eyes of the SCLM. But I agree with you that Kerry/Edwards and their supporters should make every American Legionnaire and VFW member aware of these tactics. From what was quoted from some GOP bitch called Donna Cain they are passing more band aids out tonight. It will be interesting to see if there is going to be a blow back to get them to desist, but being the soul deprived fucks that they are probably not.

has *any* politician served in vietnam and not been beaten down by opponents who managed to avoid service?
are we STILL this conflicted about that war? it seems like now instead of spitting on those who answered the call to serve their country, veterans get smeared by those who used influence and privalege to get out of it.
it seems like the only way to benefit from vietnam was not to go.

The American Legion is having their convention soon. How about emailing the national and local groups the picture of that disgusting sick woman. Tell them that this is the true face of the gop. Print it off and post it around on bulletin boards. Mail it to active service people. Already the media is trying to bury this story. Don't let it happen. Write letters to the editor. Many newspapers won't cover this story because it make the gop look like pig shit. Keep this story alive.

Sometimes I wonder if it's worth getting worked up over this latest GOPig atrocity. I mean, there's been nothing but silence from veteran's groups about this. Not one organization - not the VFW, not the American Legion, none of them, has stepped up to the plate to denounce the vicious sliming of John Kerry's war record. So why should it surprise us that they're not saying one fucking word about this shit. And where are Kerry's campaign people today?? Why the fuck aren't they making an issue of this? They should be scouring the earth for pictures of the GOPigs and their band-aid medals; they should be forcing the media whores to confront this; they should be putting the word out to veterans groups everywhere: "Here is what the GOP, the Party of George Bush and Dick Cheney, think of your sacrifice". But instead, nothing. Lame silence. Same shit different day: the Democratic Party "leadership" sits on its fucking hands and babbles about being "non partisan". Jesus Christ! Do we Liberals have to fight all their fucking battles for them?? If they don't have the stomach for a fight now, how the fuck are we ever going to defeat these animals in November? I had the misfortune of catching a few minutes of Faux News during my lunch break. They had a caption that read "McCain takes the fight to the enemy" while they showed a picture of Michael Moore. This is what we're up against, people. We're the "enemy" to these fucking pigs. I can't even bring myself to read or watch even the most brief recap of the GOPig convention. Its just a collection of mean, vicious, ignorant psychopaths -a Klan rally without the costumes. I'm just so pissed off and sick of this shit!!

Well I just called Blackwell's training institute for good little Republicans at
(703) 247-2000. Tried (800) 827-5323 first but all circuits were busy. You can send them a fax at: (703) 247-2001.
At first I figured I'd let it go. The more divisive they are, the more they try to divide this country in the midst of a war where we all could be terrorist targets the more they lose legitimacy. But seeing as Gillespie already has put the clamps on this call them. Express your outrage that they'd diminish the service of people who've been wounded or killed in the line of duty for a cheap smear of Kerry. A Purple Heart is all some people have left for the loss of a son or a husband. This is way over the line and these folks deserve to hear that from us.
