I'MMA LET YOU FINISH

Gravatarwow, first¨!

GravatarThe next 60 days are going to be a joy ride. Bush is going down, and going down hard.

GravatarWell, I'm sure you'll want to check in every once in awhile. You know, find a corner that's unoccupied by either cats or family, connect to the wide world again.

GravatarTurd?

GravatarOOPS!

Gravatarfucking republicans. fuck 'em all.

GravatarRemember before the Convention, when Republicans said they would seek to turn any disruptions to their advantage? Remember the scare stories about the Weathermen and Seattle? Well, not so much as a window got broken, as far as I know.

GravatarWhen ever I get nervous that Bush may pull off stealing the elction again, I just replay the speech of Obama - he fills me with hope and a belief that his message is stronger than the hate-filled, smearing, fear-mongering spewed by the extremist republicans - because dont forget, there are republicans who love America and believe in a plural society and a political discourse - they just are not in the ascendant right now in their party.

GravatarWow, check out Jon Stewart on Koppel's Nightline. He's actually cricizing the media for just reporting lies (i.e., Swift Boat Liars) rather informing the public what the truth is. Koppel hopelessly defends the media, saying the truth "catches up" in a week or two or six weeks. Of course, Koppel doesn't say it's the media that eventually reports the truth. In fact, the media have typically moved on to the next news event, leaving the reported lies to pollute the discourse. In other words, the media takes no responsibility in the discourse. THANK YOU, Jon Stewart, for pointing this out so well!

Gravatari'd like to see obama out on the hustings with john or john. ohio, pennsylvania, wisconsin, etc. i think he can spare the time away from his "contest" in illinois.

Gravatarhart,

I agree. Especially with Clinton in the hospital and then recovering, we need Obama nationally. He's got nothing to worry about vis a vis Keyes, and it will help him to get more national exposure.

I'd also like to see Jimmy Carter out there -- he gave an incredibly effective speech at the convention. Jimmy, I know you're doing your "elder statesman" thing, but we really need you right now!

Gravataredwards and obama.... that's some serious starpower on the same stage!

Gravataryup... everybody rest up...

cuz..

it starts here. it starts now.

GravatarThe way I see it across the pond here in Europe, the election is really about turn-out. So its good that the race stays tight, then people dont get complacent and decide to stay home. Turn-out, turn-out, turn-out. And by the way, register, register, register!

GravatarGrasp at any straws lately?

I simply marvel at the ability of you democrats to fail to process information with any degree of accuracy.

After a Democratic Convention that rivalled any 60's love-in for inanity and irrelevence and a Republican Convention that showed Rove's true brilliance (may he burn in the seventh circle of hell for all eternity) all you folks can do is curse the enemy and extoll the virtues of a relative unknown newcomer to the political world (of one lousy state).

Heres a clue for you doomed people, Obama is not your savior. Here's another clue,Kerry, whether he wins or loses, despite Bush being the very worst President in modern history, and he very well may lose, will not be a very good President and will certainly do nothing to reform the corrupt system in which he flourishes and to which he is so wedded .....( gosh what a terrible sentence structure....but nevertheless truth).

Gravatarwhen you get the peace and freedom party back on the ballot, let us know. until then, (oh, jeebus help me, i'm going to quote georgie) "it's a time for choosin'"

and i just vomited into my mouth.....

GravatarPlease people, stay on topic. I personally think that Atrios having family visiting will play well with the NASCAR dads, and possibly with Independents.

GravatarYum, tasty tasty right-wing fear, always a good snack!

GravatarObama is not your savior. Here's another clue,Kerry, whether he wins or loses, despite Bush being the very worst President in modern history, and he very well may lose, will not be a very good President and will certainly do nothing to reform the corrupt system

GravatarDamn you HaloScan!

Doomed! We're all doomed!

~Runs in circles flailing arms and then collapses in a miserable heap of abject depression and crushing ennui~

GravatarYes Ardee we are doomed.... lets kill ourselves.... you first.

McCain: Miller's attack on Kerry could hurt Bush
By Janet Hook
Tribune Newspapers: Los Angeles Times

Friday 03 September 2004

NEW YORK — Sen. John McCain, who has pushed for more civility in this year's presidential race, is warning that the biting attack on Sen. John F. Kerry by a fellow Democrat at the Republican National Convention on Wednesday night might harm President Bush's efforts to woo swing voters.

McCain (R-Ariz.) said the keynote address by Sen. Zell Miller (D-Ga.) could prove as controversial as a speech by Pat Buchanan at the 1992 GOP convention in Houston.

"I think it backfires," McCain said of Miller's rhetorical assault on Kerry. He added that it "makes Buchanan's speech … look milquetoast."

GravatarAtrios - don't be silly. You don't get any time off until the election is over. You think you can just say "Have a nice long weekend," and we'll go away and do it? Hah!

GravatarYou deserve a break, Atrios. Enjoy the family and the kitties. Hope the weather is better in Philly than it is here!

thanks for doing what you do. It really makes a difference.

GravatarYou deserve a break, Atrios.

but go work pennsylvannia with your buds and firm up our base -- we need our hands on thos EVs

GravatarYou don't have to even get off your ass for this one:

ZOGBY'S INTERACTIVE ONLINE POLLING REGISTERATION PAGE!

GravatarYou don't have to even get off your ass for this one:

the truth will set you free; the first law of polling, interpretation and analysis is disputing the bias or agenda in the procedural methodology of the questions themselves -- which means:

1> do the questions lead to an outcome, desired conclusion or an open interpretation of opinion

2> did the respondents understand the questions or need to be directed

3> do the results require too much substantiation

in the case of Time, all three answers are "yes" which immediately calls into question the nature of these polls

GravatarSovereign eye, very good thoughts, rock on .
.....
The Kerry base is absolutely not fazed by their worminess.
.....
In fact, I loved how Kerry took on their wormiest stuff and the crowd enthusiastically reeeeeejected it.
.......

GravatarThe next 60 days are going to be a joy ride. Bush is going down, and going down hard.

.....

.....

GravatarI think Tweety and Jon were right when they said this election would come down to the issue of DaWo.
.....
Prollem is that Bushie says he would do everything exactly the same.
.....
He thinks he did everything right and everything is OK.
.....
Too many prollems with that, DaWo is going thuddy thud thud and Bush is attached to it like a lead balloon.
.....

GravatarBush insisting that he is completely right whether on DaWo or on DaTaxCuts is the biggest lead balloon, the more he snarls about them and insists he is right, the more people figure, well, the only way we are gonna get change is to get change.
.....

GravatarArdee,

If you think there are going to be any elections after you ratfuck this one...good luck.

Go play with your instant runoff elections crap.

And leave the discussion to people who have a handle on reality.

In the meantime, Frances is fucking with the Salon Cruise...

There is a bomb threat which just closed LAX

and I am beginning to take this a little personally.

GravatarWaPo: Speech Fails to Sway These Undecideds

Ha, ha, ha, what did they expect from lame and moronic.
.....
Sheesh I can’t imagine people were even raising the expectation after they had heard the speech.
.....

GravatarBushie looked like a hi-larious weirdo on that funny looking stage.
.....
Who was he trying to channel?
.....
Sheesh. .
.....

GravatarOh Ardee, *Yawn*

Will you or some other Repug Op please go tell Unka Karl to hand out some different talking points. I'm so tired of the repetition of the same one over and over.

GravatarSpeech Fails to Sway These Undecideds

isn't it glaringly apparent by now that these undecideds either know who they are voting for and aren't telling, or that they are so conflicted that they stay away?

i cannot remember such glaringly different candidates (at least in style, if nothing else) and these undecideds are the same people who do xmas shopping the night before, are the student or coworker who eats the same sandwich alone in the cafeteria, and is the same guy who lives five minutes away from his work location and is perpetually ten minutes late

to me, this unique collection probably have tin foil hats on their heads and need a bong hit to wake up in the morning

for these folks, getting to the polls might be a challenge to start with

GravatarI think they were counting on their rip-roaring yawling to put Dubya over the top, I don’t think they grokked till the third day that their wormy strategy had gotten Reeeeeejected.
.....
Ha, ha, ha, they pumped up Zellie Baby all for noughty nought .
.....

GravatarMinnie - Oh not entirely for noughty nought - at least for us. Zell is terrific, really - the person all Democrats should point toward when telling people who might still be undecided (although I agree with syntallic about who that might be) why the Repugs are a bad choice. I really do love it that the token Democrat at the convention is a raving lunatic who stepped up and showed the world what happens when you hang around Repugs too long.

Yee haw - first snow of the season last night and looks like more on the way.

Gravatari hope yer family is reallly proud of you, A!!!!!

luvzya!!!!

GravatarYah, Atrios, I loves you too. Now please come back - it's snowing here and the wind is ferocious and I am staying right where I am.

Gravatar"Who was he trying to channel?"

Kathryn Kuhlman

GravatarEnjoy the peace & quiet, A, if you can find any. Be sure to take some more kitty pictures for future Fridays!

GravatarOh yeah, I must be an operative of the Republican Party...how else to explain my lack of blind lockstep stupid following the neoconservative leadership of the DLC into oblivion?

The only hope for our democracy, especially in the face of such refusal to see the truth as demonstrated here is the building of a third party.

I understand that your short attention spans will not allow you to consider such remedies and that you continue to support a party that fails, and miserably fails, to support YOU!

Kerry , and most of your traitorous elected democrats, voted FOR the invasion of Iraq, for the Homeland Security Bill, for most of Bush's judicial nominees (four protests out of 97 nominations in case your counting).

Kerry refuses to attack Bush exactly where Bush is the most vulnerable, corporate cronyism. His entire administration is made up of CEO's, Interior is run by a mining guy, Lumber executives make policy on our national forests (when oil guys arent doing so), Halliburton, despite a history of defrauding the taxpayer, gets no bid contracts . But ,of course, Kerry cannot speak out as he might alienate those very executives whose contributions the Democrats need to fill their war chests.

The two party system is a fraud and a lie and the only hope for our democracy is in the building of a third party unbeholding to corporate money and influence. But ,alas, the legacy of Clinton, who signed NAFTA into law, who threw people off welfare without any job training or child care support, who made the DLC into the power that silences the progressive voices within your sad party and seeks to make it another version of the GOP, reigns on while you all chase a myth...how very sad for you.

GravatarYeah, nothing like insulting people to get your point across. That'll win 'em over.
