I'MMA LET YOU FINISH

Huhndreds?

GravatarFrist of hundreds!

GravatarLooks like a few.

I'm sure they weren't fired up, though.

And it's really no different that what Bush is getting.

[/Andrea Mitchell]

.

GravatarIs that the big dog on stage at the bottom of the frame, just right of center?

GravatarIt looks more like hundreds of thousands

GravatarMost beautiful. Made me smile. Does my heart good.

GravatarSRO?

GravatarThat looks like what? Maybe a, dare I say. . . .

LANDSLIDE!

Gravatardozens!

GravatarAgain: LANDSLIDE!!!

GravatarFantastic photo

Gravataroh my gosh, thanks for the crowd pix! Loving it.

hundreds my ass. Odd that Mrs. Greenspan has problems with numbers....

GravatarThat's whole bunch of hundreds...

GravatarMust be the same "hundreds" who were doing all those crazy anti-war rallies in February of 2003.

GravatarAnd for all of the fans, from Richard Avedon's last project,

Gravatarwow.

and they said "hundreds"? i thought i couldnt count...

maybe alan could help andrea.

GravatarDid the media actually say a few hundred? If so they need to be publicly bitch-slapped while showing the picture to the public. They also need to get the big dog ass to arkansas. Its 48% BC 48% KE. But I am already very happy. University of Florida fired Zook and Spurrier is said to be interested. Yipee!

GravatarAnd that pic was only half the crowd.

Fox newsies must be crapping themselves.

Gravatarhey! you can see me! i'm that dot next to the yellow thing

GravatarBillllyuns and billyuns!

But are they all city workers or union members who were "told" to go, that's the really serious questions our punditocracy should be asking.

GravatarThat's a pretty big crowd for a Bush rally. Too bad John Kerry is too repulsive to draw similar attention in person.

GravatarI would like to make out with this blog right now.

A.

GravatarLooks like the 120k+ that Frank Buckley mentioned some Philly official had stated.

Hundreds. LOL. Jon Stewart was right. NONE of them are worth a fuck.

Gravatarreuters says "tens of thousands"

GravatarThe Kerry rally attendees didn't seem as fired up as those we've seen at bush rallies. In fact, I don't think anyone even swooned. This signals trouble for the Kerry Campaign. To discuss, we have on our panel today Ann Coulter on the right and Tucker Carlson on the not-so-right. Well, how in trouble IS John Kerry after this rally?

GravatarWhat's with the blimp?

GravatarAnd for all of the fans, from Richard Avedon's last project, President-elect John Kerry.

GravatarLive Free or Die : Andrea Mitchell of MSNBC actually said "hundreds" this afternoon

GravatarMany handfulls!

Gravatarsomeone needs to get andrea mitchell's email and sapm the living hell out of her with this photo.
what is it athenae's always saying?
oh yeah:
MARS, BITCHES!!!!!!!!

GravatarA sea of Humanity!

GravatarHoly.

I second that. Orgy even. Love you all.

GravatarWonderful picture.

I can't wait to see how Judy, Candy the Cow and Leslie spin it.

Totally OT: John McLaughlin compared the Bush/Cheney/Rove fearmongering campaign to Josef Goebbels! (Put up a picture of Goebbels and a Nazi flag, too.) He even quoted Goebbels to the effect that human beings are ruled by fear when it comes to political choices. I've been watching the McLaughlin Group since it premiered and this is the first time I've ever seen him so furious at the goopers.

GravatarThe blimp says Kerry Edwards...Or it says "Smile, you're on Homeland Security Camera." Not sure which.

GravatarThis was covered on MSNBC an hour ago as showing that Kerry doesn't inspire enthusiasm.

GravatarLook out, wolves! coming to eat you up!

Oh, never mind...

Gravatar"Told to go"? What, do you think somebody was taking roll? If you don't get people to sign a pledge, you just can't tell why they're there. However, I think anyone who didn't want to be there could probably have found an opening to sneak off.

GravatarThis makes me mad enough to spit nails.

By god, if somebody doesn't start holding our propaganda outlets to a standard of truth, this country will be permanently fucked.

GravatarBackslider -

I've been meaning to tell you this for a couple of days... the wrinkly dogs from China are called Shar-Peis - and that means, "sand skin"...
*

GravatarLook out, wolves! coming to eat you up!

Oh, never mind...

GravatarThat's the short side of the street, too. The Parkway extends 3 more blocks to Logan Circle the other direction, PLUS 8 more to the Art Museum, and the whole thing was closed. Hub just got back and said there was at least a quarter of a million.

Andrea Mitchell can bite me.

GravatarThis type of rallye could not happen for Bush: imagine the time it would take to screen all these people to be sure they pledge for Bush!

GravatarTheres an exhaust pipe out there that Andrea Mitchell needs to be sucking on right now.

GravatarI would like to make out with this blog right now.

Athenae

I second that. Orgy even. Love you all.

Monitor Bukkake.

GravatarIn Andrea Mitchell's defense, I'm betting that she doesn't have to do a lot of math.

Gravatar"Hundreds of supporters" refers to Andrea Greenspan's description on MSNBC. She also claimed that most of them were city workers who had been given the day off and told to go to the rally.

Of course she will be in a one-income family after Big John fires her hubby's ass and replaces him with Robert Rubin.

Gravatar"I would like to make out with this blog right now.

A."

I'm with you. I'm still laughing out loud. That was great.

GravatarWhoops, fear got the better of me. Cried "wolf!" twice.

Did the networks really start talking over Kerry every time he started talking about Al Qaqaa?

GravatarJust got back from early voting in Winston-Salem NC. Voted straight ticket for the first time ever. Stood in line for two hours and didn't hear any complaints about the wait. Just hope those touch screens work right.

Gravatar"I would like to make out with this blog right now. Athenae"

"several supporters"?

Don't underestimate the ability of the press to underestimate!

GravatarDid anyone break the news about Carl Sagan to Backslider yet?

GravatarWell THAT'S always a good sign...

GravatarHey, I can see my mom in that picture.

That looks like a couple of people, to me. An okay turnout.

But no helicopter. No flash pots. Very disappointing.

GravatarEdwards and the Kerry daughters on Larry King tonite.
Good week on TDS as well
This week on The Daily Show...

10/25----------Sec'y Madeleine Albright

10/26----------Chris Wallace

10/27----------Rev. Jesse Jackson

10/28----------John Zogby

GravatarI don't know that Kerry doesn't inspire enthusiam...take this blog, for example. At least he doesn't inspire the mass quantities of hate that Bush and Dick do.

GravatarI wish I cold have a pot hangover now but I have to take a life insurance physical in less than a month.

Turkey. Cold. Damn!

GravatarCNN.com says "Bush commands a 5 point lead (MOE +/- 3)"

Is that a commanding 5 point lead? He's so commanding. Our commander. I'm so... what's the word? Um.

GravatarBackslider, Jenny -

You wanted to see me?

(Arthur is a bonemouth Shar-pei, rather than a meatmouth. He's not nearly as worried as he was once.)

GravatarThose sneaky Kerry publicists said it would be a Bush rally with no pledges.

That's really a Bush crowd! No way would all those people turn out for Kerry and the hated Clinton.

GravatarKerry rally in Albuquerque tomorra for us unlucky fucks who arne't in Phila.
=====================================
Albuquerque Tribune, "Reserve Tickets for Kerry Rally," Staff and wire report, 10/25/04
Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry will attend a rally on Albuquerque's Civic Plaza on Tuesday.
The latest visit follows on the heels of a Kerry campaign stop in Las Cruces on Saturday and a visit by President Bush to Alamogordo on Sunday.
Those wishing to attend the "Fresh Start for America Rally" must get free tickets in advance. The gates open at 4:30 p.m., but there was no word on what time Kerry would appear.
Tickets can be obtained by calling Kerry-Edwards/N.M. Victory 2004 offices at the following numbers: Albuquerque— 256-2570 and 243-2387; Rio Rancho— 804-7823; and Santa Fe— 982-5727.

shows the limitation of the
internet. Billyuns and billyuns of
webpages on fascinating topics, and
the best thing this dingaling can do
with his time is...this. Lord, I hope
this guy hasn't reproduced.

Gravatarjust what is visible in that photo looks like about 30,000 or more...just try to imagine the area of the stands at a stadium and map it against this and you can see that. judging from what appears to be spillover at the top right around the corner, I'd bet 40-50,0000 total.

anyone dig up the "likely voters" methodology of today's CNN/Gallup poll? if it is similar to their previous polls (i.e. 8% more Rs sampled than Ds), Bush being up by only 5% would seem to be bad news for him...

GravatarJudy just asked the 'why isn't Bush doing better in PA' question. Finally, the mo is turning. 'Is the economy working against the president in this state?' Nice.

GravatarI meant folks of course.

GravatarLooks like a few people just stopped by during their lunch break. Nothing to see here folks, move along.

GravatarReminder to anyone that is interested, you can download the Kerry Movie Going up River at www.thekerrymovie.com and its free, download all of it! Make copies and show all you know, I believe Kerry ranks with JFK...HMMN...

GravatarI saw this morning, can't remember where, that Bush had "55,000" people at a rally in Florida over the weekend and that was a record for the Preznit.

My first thought was that he showed up at the UF tailgate and they called it a "Bush rally."

Does anyone know the real story behind that claim?

GravatarHolden,

I recommend ducking just about . . . NOW.

GravatarYup, "hundreds" -- like the "five hundred" protesters at the Unaugural.

It was fun to watch the faces of average Americans in the F9/11 audience as they saw the uncensored Unaugural footage for the first time. Their jaws dropped as they saw the tens of thousands of people present to protest the Commander-in-Thief.

GravatarYup. Schools out. Hijacker is here.

His ass is grass. Here's to deporting
the worthless twit to Den Haag for his

GravatarOf course when Our Hero helicoptered into the Jacksonville Jaguars' Alltel Stadium on Sunday, CNN droolingly, mindlessly, unquestioningly repeated the Bush campaign estimates of 50,000 brownshirts!

To my untrained eyes, about 1/2 of the sideline seats in front of Mr. Prez appeared occupied. I think the other side of the stadium was empty According to Jaguars.com website, the stadium holds 70,000 people.

Assuming the each sideline can seat 1/3 of the total crowd, and 1/2 of one sideline was occupied, I'd guess an audience of 12,000. Which is about what I would have guessed from just looking at the crowd. Hacktacular!

GravatarMan, how did they get that many people to sign loyalty oaths?

Oh, and btw: those of you saying landslide better look at the latest polls.

We're behind, and falling further behind.

GravatarHelp!! What broke the thread? Can you fix it?? Please.

GravatarIf you haven'e installed the Haloscan fix
Just hit "return/enter" every six or seven
words, this makes your post readable to
the non-fix.

And to the troll who broke it
your desperation is readily apparent
If this is your idea of an argument
no wonder Bush/Cheney are losing.
krsaz

GravatarThe best thing about our local troll population is that they prove how childish, ignorant, antisocial and just plain stupid you have to be to think that having George W. Bush be preznit is a good thing. I always appreciate getting those little reminders.

GravatarI got a couple of clarinets I can pitch your way....

GravatarAt the botton of the picture is the other side that goes towards the Art Musuem. I was up front by the stage. When Jonathan Saidel got up to rile up the crowd, he mentioned that the crowd extended up to the art musuem. I talked to another person who spoke with someone from the campaign and they said that they are guessing that there was anywhere from 75k-100k. It was rocking.

GravatarI was right under the flag on the
crane!

GravatarJenny - it's the heavy black eyeliner and black nails - the only one in the household who gets pedicures, my ownself's little thug.

GravatarDamn. That's just... damn.

I feel like a group hug. We're gonna do it!

GravatarOh yeah. Kerry in a landslide!

Gravatarno wonder Bush/Cheney are losing.

Ha!

Gravatarto the unmarried man:

the only poll that matters is the one taken on November 2nd. And btw, you smell like a troll.

GravatarFYI, the blimp said "Boilermakers for Kerry/Edwards."

GravatarI LOVE PRESIDENT CLINTON! It's so good to see him back. This will air tonight on c-span at 9pm. Or check www.c-span.org

GravatarReminds me of the coverage of the march on washington back in the early 90's for gay rights. I have pictures of a never ending sea of people...heck at least the news coverage of the time gave us the benefit of "thousands." It seems sad that there were correspondents from the news there and they report...hundreds. Shame on them, and shame on us for letting them get away with it for so long...the revolution has started, but we've got a long haul.

GravatarHundreds? Are you trying to get a job working for the corporate media, estimating crowd sizes at antiwar demonstrations? if so, good job, you're hired!

GravatarBy the way, it's about time Alan Greenspan got canned. I know he has a term to run out, but Kerry should make it known early he's out.

And that hideous bird-creature Andrea Mitchell should retire. Good god I'd hate to see the dust kicked up when those two fuck.

GravatarThe Haloscan Hijacker has totally
weakened my resolve. I think I'll
just stay home next Tuesday. And I was so excited about voting. Oh well. There's always 2008.

Gravatarflikertom,

((((group hug))))

GravatarThe size of that rally obviously
disturbed the trolls. We have not
had a deliberate Halscan breaker
for a while.
I am going to get my anvil so that I can throw it at Haloscan Roundhouse.

Gravatarwow...hundreds of hundreds...

But, forcing union workers to attend, and even if there were hundreds just goes to show ya JK needs BC because he has no charisma, and needed to have BC there to help him stop the loss of votes of the AA community, who love bush, and isn't it desperate that JK would pull BC from his deathbed...he'll do anything to get elected..and he doesn't even have a helicopter or eye of the tiger...

GravatarAh, it's just the same hundreds that
demonstrated at the RNC.

I've got all the pinko's numbers, too.

The first 're-education camp' opens 11/3.

GravatarThe Haloscan Hijacker makes me now
very sorry that

I'VE ALREADY VOTED, BIATCH!

Heh.

GravatarWOOOHOOO!!!!!

GravatarYou people are all missing the crucial point. John Kerry doesn't require any kind of loyalty oath for his rallies, so we have no way of knowing how many of those people actually support him. 'Hundreds' is just Andrea Mitchell's estimate of the Kerry supporters in the crowd.

GravatarI think it was the nbc helicopter that was flying above billie penn. I'm trying to locate a piture from them. They would have the best shot extending all the way down the parkway to the art musuem from billie penn. That would show the entire crowd.

Gravatardon't misunderestimate the power of the "fuzzy math"

...I couldn't fail to disagree with you less!

One thing about Andrea Mitchell.. I know couples start to look like one another over the years, but in her case the effects are especially troubling.

GravatarThe size of the crowd is nonpredictable.

GravatarThe Haloscan Hijacker makes me now
very sorry that

I'VE ALREADY VOTED, BIATCH!

Heh.
Meander

I am going to cancel you out.

GravatarDid someone collect all of these people's oath-of-support cards? Oh, wait. That's the other party.

GravatarI sorta like when people adapt their posts
to fit Haloscan after someone breaks it.
It gives a nice e.e. cummings feeling to
the comments.

Anyone else have the feeling that our little
troll friend is exactly the kind of person
who would "accidentally" knock over
the board game when he realized he was
about to lose?

Poor pathetic trollie.

GravatarWow, this is like the worldwide protests pre-war, when, something like 1500 people marched in the streets!

GravatarTHERE'S photo 6!

No way there would only be 'hundreds' of people to see Kerry and Big Dog.

Silly rightwing pieces of elephant merde.

Gravatarshe just happened to not mention thousands...

as in hundreds (of thousands)

Gravatarshe just happened to not mention thousands...

GravatarThe last Gallup Poll before the election will adjust their methodology to show the race being neck & neck so they can avoid embarassment when Kerry gets 52% and 300 plus electoral votes.

Just watch.

GravatarGreat pic!!

Where can I get a copy w/o "ME"
on it? So I can send it to everyone
w/o them thinking "ME" is me?

GravatarArch conservative bloviator Sean Hannity is giddy about impending American tragedy.

Bukkake Hannity starring in Something About Georgie:

"Is it a reality that we could turn on our television sets one day, Fox News Channel I hope, and find out that America is ... that a nuclear weapon has gone off here?"

Bush's answer was no surprise, given Vice President Cheney's nuke fright last week. "Yes it is," Bush said.

"By the way, Sean" Dubya almost said, looking even more perplexed than usual. "Is that, hair gel?"

Gravatarwhat a gorgeous effin picture.

and as others have already noted, does this even get a nod on cnn's (btw- has anyone come up with a more appropriate name for them ala "Faux news"??) home page? nope. nada. zilch. zero.

a "commanding" lead (still within the margin of error)???? i swear, i just give UP.

Bawahahahahahahahahaa

The African American Community loves Bush?

Backslider, you need to get some of

Just the opposite, talk to anyone in

GravatarAlready have tickets for the whole family. And today's Albuquerque Urinal says Clinton will be here on the 31st, though the location has not been announced yet.

GravatarLET'S WIN ONE FOR THE BIG DOG !!!!!

GravatarSatan airbrushed those faces into the crowd. There probably wasn't more than a few hundred there which makes up the total number of devil worshippers they have out there on the east coast. Damned liberal satan worshippers!

GravatarAnchor on HNN just said the crowd was '100,000 to 150,000'.

GravatarLate to the party, so excuse two
queries:
Did Andrea Mitchell really say there
only hundreds at the Kerry rally?
And what's happening (if anything)
with the big anti-Kerry story the
Freepers were saying would come out
today?

Oh, and this is really embarassing,
but what the hell does bukkake mean?

Damned right, krsaz. The Rethugs have been going to town on some erroneous poll that says more African Americans will vote for Bush in greater numbers than they voted for Bush in 2000.

Talk to the African Americans I work with. Bush has fucked with their incomes, their privacy, and their children ~ they are not happy.

GravatarThat couple two thirds of the way in doesn't look enthused. Could be they're having a spat ... or the Kerry campaign is trouble!!!

Gravatar The AA community
does not love Bush, that is the
biggest load of bullshit I have ever

African Americans HATE the scumbag mothersucker Bush. That is why the GOP has taken such strides to hatch schemes to keep African Americans from voting. Of course, you might have Uncle Toms like Alan Keyes and Condi Rice. Toms are par for the course in any anti-progressive movement; they scramble like rats to cash in their racial status at the expense of many. But by and large, African Americans have hated Bush since his campaign decided disenfranchisement of the "nigras" was okay, and the hate has deeply intensified with the war in Iraq against the "sand ni**ers." If the GOP really believes it has gained any significant African American voters, it is in for a big and nasty surprise.

Gravatarre. the Avedon photo,

Hypnotic, like so many of Avedon's shots.

Note the golf tee tie.

OT, watching Bushboy live now on CNN. Not only is he a total liar about Kerry's positions, the screaming crowds are really scary. Of course, we don't see them on camera, and his speech is not being interrupted by pundits.

Whores. All of them.

GravatarHecate? Stoli?

GWPDA,

I'll take Stoli, because champagne always gives me a headache, but for the Kerry landslide, I'll put up with the headache. Love the Arthur picture! He is such a sweet doggie!

GravatarDon't feed the lonely pathetic troll
That's what he wants
It's a bad bad bad day for Bush
1) those poor souls in Irak being massacred
for wanting a police job
2) the NYT story about the unprotected weapons
3) return of Big Dog
4) gigantic rally in Philly
So the troll provokes us cause he's
got nothing to beat that.
Ignore him please!

GravatarW stands for "Whut...?"

Gravatarwhat the hell does bukkake mean

...a word best not googled at work.

GravatarYou see, it's really an optical illusion.
If you hold the camera just so, and the light
hits the crowd at just the right angle,
then an experienced photographer can easily
make a few hundred people look like thousands.
For an example, just look at Bush's rallies.

GravatarOT a bit:

a poor man's made outta muscle and blood..

Gravatar"I would like to make out with this blog right now"- A.

Well I never. Actually, I did once.

Imagine the celebrating when Kerry's elected. But for now, back to work.

GravatarSteve Simels, yes, Andrea said 100s.

Nuts, eh?

OT question for you. Have you ever reviewed the Willeys? Celtic acoustic folk rock and reel band? Unique sound. They've been around a long time. From Grand Rapids.

GravatarTop story on CNN.com: Bush ahead in poll.

I don't know about the accuracy of the poll either way (and frankly, neither do you), but a poll conducted by CNN is NOT the top story in the world at the moment. It's not even close. It's not even news.

Kerry in a landslide

GravatarThanks to whoever posted the link to the Triumph "spin alley" video in a previous thread. It has kept me laughing all morning.

As Triumph said, "Bush and black people go together like Yassir Arafat and circumcision."

And you gotta love Triumph going after Ralph Reed...

GravatarA year and a half here and I've never
fed a troll.

I couldn't resist it.

GravatarLook at all those terrorist supporters. It makes me sick. You all know John Kerry paid all of those people. They're actors!!! And that wasn't Bill Clinton, it was a guy in a Clinton mask.

The real Bill Clinton is tied to a chair at Kerry's campaign headquarters because he really wanted to go out and endorse Bush.

Wow... that was pretty good. I should work for Fox News.

GravatarHaloshitter,

Go play with the puppies.

GravatarAfter being warned about the danger of major stockpiles of explosives in Iraq, this administration failed to guard those stockpiles. This is one of the great blunders of the Bush policy in Iraq. The administration has several key questions to answer:
1. Why did the administration ignore warnings from the IAEA to secure the nearly 380 tons of explosives in Iraq?
2. Did President Bush's failure to listen to General Shinseki and others about the troop levels that would be needed to secure Iraq after the initial military operations contribute to the military's inability to secure the site?
3. How many terrorist bombings in Iraq, Egypt or elsewhere have been carried out using HMX, RDX or PETN explosives since 2002?
4. Who knew what, when? When was the civilian leadership at the Pentagon told about the missing explosives? When did Secretary Rumsfeld learn that the explosives had gone missing? When was the president's National Security Council informed? When was national security advisor Condoleezza Rice briefed on this? When was the president told?
5. What is the chronology of action taken by the Bush administration after being informed that the explosives had gone missing?
6. Has the site been inspected recently?
7. Why did the Bush administration deny the IAEA's request to go back into Iraq to verify the status of the stockpile?
8. What action did Paul Bremer take after reportedly being warned in May 2004 that the explosives had gone missing?
9. In addition to the missing explosives and reports of machine tools that can be used for nuclear and non nuclear purposes, what other sites in Iraq with dangerous material were not adequately protected and subsequently looted?
10. Is there an estimate for the total amount of munitions, weapons and explosives that have gone missing in Iraq?

Gravatarhaloscan roundhouse is a perfect example of why I am sick of all the oh, but the children... talk.

Children are worth no more than adults. Sometimes, as in haloscan roundhouse's case, they are worth less.

GravatarOT, but hilarious --

Our favorite Oxycontin abuser was whining that Bush's letting 380 TONS OF THE WORLD'S MOST POWERFUL EXPLOSIVE fall into the insurgents' hands was "old news -- we knew about this a year and a half ago". I kid you not.

Rush, Rush, Rush. Get with the program. Scott McClellan today was saying that nobody knew about this! (And Josh Marshall reams him out big-time over it.)

Meanwhile, check this out -- Somerby gets it, big-time!

Man, oh man. I can't wait to see what Jon Stewart's going to do to this story. Please, Jon, don't have a stroke before Election Night! Your country needs you!

As I've said in a thread below, I have started a special group for people like Roundhouse. It is for the purest of the pure Bushists. A place where they can come together and work hard at loving their leader. All I'm asking, Roundhouse, is a small fee to cover my costs and the deed to any property you might own. In return, I promise permanent oblivion and ecstasy as we worship our dear leader, George "Jim Jones" Bush. I can't promise, however, that kool-aid and rat poison are not involved.

GravatarMan, I just love the "frame shoulders and head" shots of Der Fuehrer that CNN is using. Good thing the media doesn't try to manipulate public opinion through the use of imagery. Gaaak. I'm going to take the advice of chimpy's zombie horde and go have four more beers.

Gravatarleaving the Center City on the 10:10 R5 train today (damn those deadlines, i couldn't go to the rally) i had to sit at Suburban Station for a good 8 minutes while the train from Lansdale emptied out of people going to the rally. there were a lot of suburbanites there and that is an awesome sign cuz if we win Montgomery County and Philly we win PA.

GravatarRehnquist news: The question is whether we are killing off the right-wingers faster than we are breeding them.

GravatarI LOVE TAMAKERI!!!

GravatarI know some of y'all are Terry Pratchett fans...maybe Mrs. Greenspan's cypherin' is akin to how trolls (real trolls, not sad little attempts at carbon life like we see above) count. "One, two, three, many. Many one, many two, many three, lots." And so on and so forth until you get "hundreds" for thousands.

Or maybe she thinks both a candy bar and a car cost "'bout a hundred dollars". I doubt she has to worry about how much shit costs, one way or another.

Gravatarsurfdork, TAMAKERI is caused by children eating too many sugary snacks.

Give them Ritalin.

Just kidding. :>

GravatarKerry site says latest estimate 100,000.

So they just forgot to add "thousand" after "hundred" which is, I'm sure, an understandable mistake, considering the pressures of live television, newspaper deadlines blah blah blah.

GravatarTurn off CNN and back slowly away from the TV. Just stop watching. It's like FOX now, the only reason to turn on the propaganda is to get a first-hand idea how BushCo. is spinning. This should be the only reason for having that crap on. Really. Just turn it off.
If it helps, boycott them like we did Sinclair. But don't watch CNN. You wont miss it, I promise.
Really.

GravatarNo one is excited about John Kerry. No one to see here...
And I've got all of their names on a my list.

If you use Internet Explorer:

1. Create a new text file in Notepad, with the following contents

table.MainTable {
table-layout: fixed;
border: 2px dashed red;
width: 500px;
}

Save it to any directory ("My Documents", whatever) as "haloscan_fix.css".

2. In IE: Go to Tools -> Internet Options... In the "General" tab,
click on the "Accessibility" button. Where it says "User style sheet"
check the checkbox that says "Format Documents using my style sheet",
click "Browse", and select haloscan_fix.css in the dialog.
Click OK.

3. Close all IE windows and restart.

GravatarWell, this picture has approx 167K pixels. 2/3 of the image is "people", each head is between 1 (background) and 4 (foreground) pixels in size (lets use 2). So we have about.

167K pixels in image * 2/3 of image with people / 2 pixels per person = 55.6K

I'd guess from this photo that there are between 45-60K people.

Hundreds. Indeed.

Something like "Shut up Peasant!" Thank you for your effort and keep giving them hell! Jimmy James

Jimmy,

This was my email to her:

Listening to you just now on MSNBC you made a statement suggesting that the democrat base is not energized.

Antecdotal evidence:

I have been voting since 1974.

I have been relatively apolitcal. Until now.

I have never donated to a presidential campaign.Until now.

I have never volunteered for a presidential campaign. Until now.

I have never written a letter to the editor. Until now.

I have never been so motivated and energized IN MY LIFE.

I just got a letter from my quiet, reserved and somewhat conservative 85 year old aunt. She lambasted Bush.

I think the pundits are going to be very surprised on November 2.

And this was Andrea's response to me:

Thank you for your information..it adds to our knowledge. I was reflecting concerns the campaign itself had. Fascinating election. Sincerely, andrea m.

Wait for January 20th, that many people will show up to make sure he gets the fuck out of Washington.

GravatarVicki:

Just found out that a hearing got rescheduled and I have to drive clients to Tucson on the 1st and attend the hearing on the 2nd, like a 4 1/2 hour drive. I was scheduled to be a poll watcher, but work comes first in this shit economy. So I voted early and hopefully will get back by about 5:00 p.m.

No guarantees so I didn't want to take any chances.

GravatarI couldn't make it alas...(grant proposal deadlines)...but knowing the area quite well, I've got to say that there are FAR MORE people here then at, say, the Paddy's Day Parade...and more people claim Irish ancestry in Philly then any other US city.

Also, there's a huge amount of space going up toward the art museum, up by Logan Circle and the Cathedral which was probably equally full considering that the stage is right there at the corner of what? 17 & the Parkway? Amazing. This reminds me of the crowd for the million woman march!

Boy the crowd for the inauguration is going to incredible. I'm buying my train ticket now!

BTW, just got an E-mail -- if no one else has seen it, the WaPo's Best Blogs vote is in. Eschaton got Honorable Mention in "Best Outside The Beltway," and they got the URL totally wrong. Instatwit won that category.

The General got an honorable mention under Class Clown.

LGF took "Best International." ??? I wrote, to advise of the bad Eschaton URL and to mention that it was a shame they had to point people toward a blog that takes such glee in Rachel Corrie pancake jokes.

And somebody totally stacked it for NRO's The Corner. It took Best Rant, Best Campaign Dirt, Best Republican Party Coverage, Best DEMOCRATIC Party Coverage, and Best Inside The Beltway. I am not familiar with this blog, but today it is loaded with ads for W. Did WaPo get freeped or am I missing something?

Susan

Only the mainstream media can imagine that Bush could be popular enough to draw a President Kerry-sized crowd; even Rove would find that laughable.

GravatarAndrea Mitchell was disgusting and so partisan. She is becoming an embarrassment.

Gravatarw00+,

The amazing thing is that, until this election, getting most pagans to vote required an act of magic. You'd hear "Oh, I don't want to get involved in politics," or "They're all alike," blah, blah, blah. But Bush has energized this group. They remember what fundie xians did to witches the last time they had unbridled power. And you know that old Texas saying, "Fool me once, won't get fooled again."

GravatarI know someone posted the link to this picture, but I cant find it. Anyone know where I can get it? Thanks in advance.

GravatarHow to foil Haloscan Roundhouse:
------------------------------
If you use Internet Explorer:
------------------------------

1. Create a new text file in Notepad, with the following contents

table.MainTable {
table-layout: fixed;
border: 2px dashed red;
width: 500px;
}

GravatarAndrea Mitchell was disgusting and so partisan. She is becoming an embarrassment.

She thinks Kerry will impose a pancake makeup tax.

Gravatarmath is hard...work

GravatarOT, but just wanted to share this:

I was really down last week having
spent the weekend with my mother who
is becoming a major bible-thumper.
She was angry that Kerry had said
the "L" word about Mary Cheney. She
thought it was awful to say that
about someone. Here is the really
awful part: her daughter (me) is a
lesbian. I was so angry. I spent all
last week brooding about it.

This was after watching my oldest
son graduate from AIT and learning
he will be going to Iraq or
Afghanistan in 5 months.

Anyway, I resort to old music to find
solace and was playing STYX
when "Too Much Time on My Hands"
came on. I imagined W singing that
song in January and everything got
better.

The silliest things have kept me
going.

Gravatarhttp://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6327735/

MATTHEWS: Yeah, I forgot about the presidential joke at that press dinner. I guess, it doesn‘t sound as funny outside the context of a fun-fun dinner.

GravatarAnd this was Andrea's response to me:

Thank you for your information..it adds to our knowledge. I was reflecting concerns the campaign itself had. Fascinating election. Sincerely, andrea m.

Yeah, reflecting concerns of the Bush Campaign.

GravatarLGF gets an honorable mention in Most Original? I think WaPo just ruined the words honorable and original in one fell swoop.

GravatarI wish Novakula's other hip would attempt to escape and put him out of commission for a few more days.

Or maybe he can just drown in his own bile.

GravatarGallup poll 2004: Bush leads by five points

Gallup poll 2000: Bush led by 11 points (or was it 13?)

If the 2004 poll is similarly accurate, then Kerry wins nationwide by about six points.

Gravatarjust me @4:47 pm,

We don't have to do that anymore now that Atrios has patched the main haloscan template.

Other great news is that all the previously sullied threads are readable again.

WOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO

Kerry/Edwards In A LANDSLIDE!!

GravatarHaloscan asshole at 4:33 pm

GravatarCool! Thanks to Atrios or whoever fixed this thread!

Man, that crowd looks awesome. Aah, i wish I lived in a swing state *sigh*

By the way: in Senate races, Kentucky's Mongiardo is doing pretty well:

FRANKFORT, Ky. — The U.S. Senate race between Democratic state Sen. Daniel Mongiardo and Republican Sen. Jim Bunning appears to have tightened to 6 percentage points, according to a new Courier-Journal Bluegrass Poll.

A similar poll taken in September showed Bunning was ahead by 17 points.

The new poll, conducted Monday through Wednesday, shows 49 percent of likely voters would vote for Bunning, 43 percent prefer Mongiardo and 9 percent were undecided.

Because the results are within the poll's margin of error — plus or minus 3.7 percentage points — Bunning may not be definitely ahead. It also means Bunning could have a larger lead.

The poll questioned 690 registered voters who said they definitely or probably would vote in the Nov. 2 general election.

Compared to that poll, the Bluegrass Poll taken Sept. 10-15 showed 51 percent of voters supported Bunning, 34 percent were for Mongiardo and 15 percent were undecided.

linky

Hope he can keep on gaining! One more blue seat in the Senate!

GravatarLGF gets an honorable mention in Most Original? I think WaPo just ruined the words honorable and original in one fell swoop.

It was runner up to "Mein Kampf Online"

GravatarI don't know about you guys but I really like this haloscan fix.

Groovy!!

GravatarThat's you, Atrios?

You look better in person.

GravatarAngry FFEMT,

Thanks for sharing your story. It's cool when a song picks you up! I had an Indigo Girls moment like that just a few days ago ~ changed my outlook for the entire day.

GravatarThat's great, but who is that damn person spelling "Me" with their laser pointer? Really immature.

GravatarThank you for your information..it adds to our knowledge. I was reflecting concerns the campaign itself had. Fascinating election. Sincerely, andrea m.

Yeah, reflecting concerns of the Bush Campaign.
Jefe

I'm with you Jefe. "Concerns of the campaign" my ass. It's hilarious though that she would even attempt to explain away her obviously biased coverage of this event and her annoying disruption of President Kerry's speech. This one, like Buchanan, must've misread the GOP memo. It said, rats jump off the sinking ship, not on.

Gravatarjust me: do you have the solution for a MAC OS 9.3 with Netscape 7.02? Just preparing myself for nov 2...

GravatarAck. The new 400px width is annoying. Can't it be scaled to the browser width somehow? I don't know enough about CSS to suggest how, but this looks ridiculous in a full-width window.

GravatarI like this new haloscan fix. It has that new haloscan smell.

GravatarJeepers!! Did you folks not notice that Joe Lockhart posted on this very thread a while back?

GravatarChuck Todd of Hotline doesn;t know that a 269-269 tie goes to the House and so to Bush ...

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6327735/

TODD: Bush could win four out of those five, Chris, and not have one of them Florida, and be stuck at 269. And that‘s a problem. And I think the Bush campaign realizes it. I think that‘s why they‘re doing everything they can to add Pennsylvania events, because Pennsylvania is worth one more magical electoral vote than Ohio is. And then they could figure out how to get to 270 if they could get Pennsylvania in play.

This is Spinal Tap -- Pennsylvania, "It's one louder" Idiot.

GravatarThis photo calls for a boobie... w00t can you hear me?

GravatarTangerine,

You no longer have to worry about HR anymore. But if you have a problem with other sites, let me know what you are browsing the internets with.

Haloscan Pedant.

Kerry/Edwards In A LANDSLIDE!!

GravatarAtrios has posted on the new Gallup poll

GravatarAndrea Mitchell was disgusting and so partisan. She is becoming an embarrassment.

She thinks Kerry will impose a pancake makeup tax.

Nicely snarked, atta.

Did you see the Katherine Harris make-out video I linked to above?

GravatarHaloscan Roundhouse suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucks!

Gravataruuucks!!!!!!!!!

GravatarHey Vicki:
I'm looking for Willeys songs on
WinMX....what's a good one to
start with?

GravatarI think Haloscan Roundhouse is having some sort of pyschotic breakdown. Obviously, the events of the day have been too much for him/her.

GravatarWhat is that curious balloon-like object in the photo...Ralph Nader's ego?

GravatarHow does it feel to be nutered HR?
Hardee Har Har

Kerry/Edwards In A LANDSLIDE!!

GravatarKent: free meal (or exile if there's a draft) in Montréal for you!
merci!

GravatarSometimes Atrios reminds me of Aslan. Like we're the kids in Narnia, and despite our best efforts to fight for the good, we get into scrapes of our own or other peoples' making. And indeed, in Narnia like blog world, there are trolls (though I think we could use some sylphs and fauns...). But like the benevolent Aslan, Atrios makes it all better for us.

Makes me feel cared for in a very touching way. Thanks for straightening out our tangled threads Atrios.

GravatarTangerine,

I'll keep that in mind

Kerry/Edwards In A LANDSLIDE!!

Gravatarcnn:

did I just hear the wingnut say it was the UN Inspectors fault for the missing 370 tons of KaBoomers?

GravatarPeople stupid enuf to listen to robbins in 2000 just might be stupid enuf to listen to him now, I guess.

what's up with timmah? no difference no longer operative?

You know, that's the real magic.

Some people can recognize and learn from their mistakes.

Some people NEVER do.

Gravatarcnn:

did I just hear the wingnut say it was the UN Inspectors fault for the missing 370 tons of KaBoomers?
tumnus | Email | Homepage

You did indeed, sir. My jaw dropped.

GravatarI see five. The others were bussed in by the Communist Party. Man! Was it sweet to hear the Big Dog's voice or what? I can't wait to hear Kerry's voice booming from the White House.

GravatarGood job on the fix
No a ban of the asshat Roundhouse would also be appropriate.

GravatarThis Haloscan makes me feel safe - almost, um, swaddled. Cozy.

GravatarI caught Bush's speech on CNN and he looked like a tired man just going through the motions. I think the GOP numbers show him going down.

The news about the high explosives...please, let that me the straw that breaks the camel's back. Wake up, please. Vote out that dangerous dodo.

GravatarRight on. Haloscan fixed.

Another thing going on this cycle are the "ghost detaines." These were prisoners who were moved without being registered by Red Cressent. This would be a violation of the Geneva convention. Whoever ordered it could be procecuted for war crimes. McCain is pissed.

GravatarStraw Man - reference AM's response to you, paraphrased as "I get my anti-Kerry talking points from the Kerry campaign," I could only think of Monarch from "The Savage Brothers":

"How does it feeeel to be a liar and always to have your pants on fire?"

She's just repugnant.
-

GravatarBet that burns like a mother, too.
Backslider

WAY not as bad as bourbon, tho....

GravatarDon't I remember Alan Greenspan's dire warnings about social security, the same week Kerry opposed its privatization in the third debate?

Seems Alan, and Andrea have a problem with numbers.

Gravatarsteve simels -You did indeed, sir. My jaw dropped.

I'm still shaking my head...

Is that where they are going or did he just fly of the cliff without his wingnuts....?

GravatarI'm pretty sure HR is an "it".

GravatarSmart-looking comments box. And thank heavens it's now fixed.

Comparing W to a dodo? I think the dodo would be most offended.

GravatarFielding: That's Venture Brothers.

But you knew that.

GravatarEschaton- Proud member of the Free-Based community.

Again and again.

But that's usuall associated with alchohol.

Oh, that's right! Bush.

Got it.

GravatarOK guys, just finished writing to a couple of editors. I want some answers, who is responsible for LOSING THE WEAPONS. I want the journalists SCRAMBLING right now. What the hell is going on out there?? We need answers.

Come on guys, lets focus here. Email FOX, CNN.

GravatarAndrea Mitchell and her ilk have really backed the wrong gee. (Her husband turned out to be a tool, but that's her private misfortune.)

Talking heads like her really aren't reporters. At the level where people know your name, you're a corporate tool: the winnowing process produces Yes Men. Forget her. Ignore her. Print the truth elsewhere.

GravatarIt was fun to watch the faces of average Americans in the F9/11 audience as they saw the uncensored Unaugural footage for the first time. Their jaws dropped as they saw the tens of thousands of people present to protest the Commander-in-Thief.

Uhh, Anon, my wife was working in network news at the time, and we had no idea about that footage until we saw F9/11.

GravatarWhat is the red shit on the pix that looks like threads from Duncan's ass on the scan?

No,, really, from the building, down to the little itty bitty crowd...

What is that?

GravatarMy Haloscan ain't fixed... It's still bleeding out to the end of the computer screen.

GravatarThis Haloscan makes me feel safe - almost, um, swaddled. Cozy.
GWPDA

Yea, no wolves in here.

Gravatarprisoners who were moved without being registered by Red Cressent.

McCain's not the only one pissed about this. Hey, George! Know why we follow the Geneva Convention? It's not because we're alturistic; it's because we want other countries to follow the Geneva Convention when they capture our soldiers! I know you told Pat Robertson that there wouldn't be any casualties in this war, but geez-o-flip, did you think that there wouldn't be any American prisoners, either? And that there'd never be any other wars in the future? We follow the Geneva Convention, you fuckhead, so that when our soldiers get captured the other folks will be more likely to treat them according to the Geneva Convention. So that they'll let our soldiers get a visit from the Red Cross. Man, when I read this article this weekend I was so pissed off. What the fuck were they thinking hiding people from the Red Cross?

GravatarLisa,

Really?!!!, what browser and operating system are you using?

Kerry/Edwards In A LANDSLIDE!!

GravatarAnother thing going on this cycle are the "ghost detaines." These were prisoners who were moved without being registered by Red Cressent. This would be a violation of the Geneva convention. Whoever ordered it could be procecuted for war crimes. McCain is pissed.
John Gillnitz

This might be sacrilege in this country, but McCain has finally crossed my "fuck you" threshold. As a former POW himself, he should have been pissed long before now, perhaps when stories of rape started coming out of Guantanamo. He really can kiss my ass; he has zero credibility with me at this point and perhaps he can serve as a warning to those who will trade in years of hard work, common sense and moderation to extreme and whorish political movements.

GravatarI knew that back home we'd turn out huge crowds. I'm so homesick!

For those of you in Nevada, Kerry will be appearing in Las Vegas tomorrow:

WHEN: Tuesday, October 26
Gates open at 11:30 a.m.
WHERE: Jaycee Park
2100 E. St. Louis Ave.
Las Vegas, NV
DETAILS: Due to security, please do not bring any umbrellas, bags, or signs. Please limit personal items as well. This event will take place RAIN or SHINE.

Ample free parking and shuttles will be available at the former Castaways Casino (Fremont Street and Atlantic Street) parking lot. Please enter the parking lot from Atlantic Street.

They apparently still need some volunteers. Contact you local campaign headquarters. I think you get free tix at www.johnkerry.com.

Gravatarthere were hundreds of people in the VIP pen alone, along with the press corps and bored stenographers like Chris Matthews, whose tweety-like dome was in attendance.

It looked like a fucking River of People snaking down the Ben Franklin Parkway and around City Hall. I've never been in a larger or friendlier crowd in my lifetime.

I haven't said it before, but it's going to be Kerry in a motherfucking Landslide to end all motherfucking Landslides.

GravatarBased on what I can tell from Google, there can't have been more than 9,300 people at the Colorado arena where Bush's speech was held this morning. No wonder all we saw was his head and the 20 people behind him. It ain't Philly.

GravatarI just emailed this to my co-worker whose home town is Philadelphia... It's really beautiful!

GravatarI forgot to mention on the last thread, that we didn't have to go through any checkpoints to see Kerry & Clinton. Everyone free to come and go.
LOL, watching the local 5 PM news on the Philadelphia station-they are calling the rally 'mammoth'.
Then they say there were hundreds of people at Bush's rally today in Greeley, CO.

GravatarKent:
Mac OS 10.3.
IE.

GravatarOk, this is interesting. This is fucking interesting, man (to quote The Dude):

Haloscan is fixed when I switch to Safari as the browser.

Weird, eh?

GravatarKerry and aWol were preaching to their respective choirs today. It's fun to compare the relative sizes of the two choruses, their cultural diversity and volume.
Fuck Bush: Mutherfockas goin down...

Gravatarsteve simels - WRT: bukkake - isn't it amazing the things you can learn here.

Many months ago, Atrios posted a thread in which we could come up with the definition for a Santorum. That was a memorable thread. Until then I had no idea how very much I did not know.

GravatarLisa,
I am betting that you have a security
setting getting in the way, or some other coniption. I can't remember exactly how much the mac IE resembles
the windows version, but you might want to poke around and see if anything relating to css files is enabled

In IE: Go to Tools -> Internet Options... In the "General" tab,
click on the "Accessibility" button. Where it says "User style sheet"
check the checkbox that says "Format Documents using my style sheet",
click "Browse", and select haloscan_fix.css in the dialog.
Click OK.

These instructions may or may not be applicable. Can you send me a screen shot to my mailbox? and if you can get it to show the drop down menues it would help me figure out WTF is up.

Kerry/Edwards In A LANDSLIDE!!

Gravatar8 more days to a fresh start, people.

8 more days.

GravatarCNN calling this "hundreds of people" reminds me of the former Soviet Union's Pravda - the government propaganda machine calling itself news. They lied so much, so often and so blatently nobody with a brain took them seriously. That's where American mainstream media has stood for a long, long time with me and my freinds.

Let them lie folks. The more they do, the more every day people will see how ridiculous they are, and what little credibility they still have will be gone. I know today's American "news reporting" holds very little sway in the international community. I guess Americans are just slower to grasp reality.

GravatarLisa,

You may just want to stick with Safari.
But you do have my curiosity piqued.

Kerry/Edwards In A LANDSLIDE!!

GravatarYa know, guys and gals, Eschatonians, one and all: I'm glad i found all y'all...No shit!

Gravatarare you a likely voter?

GravatarClinton came out and saw the crowd, and said "If this isn't good for my heart, I don't know what is!"

GravatarOf what are the red graphics in the image indicative?

It appears some person/s in the crowd is/are being referenced.

Tried reading the whole thread for an answer. If there is one, I missed it.

GravatarYou know, it is hundreds of people. It's hundreds and hundreds of hundreds of people.

GravatarLooking good there Atrios. I was by the big ugly tourist spaceship at 16th and JFK.

GravatarHurry up November 2, 2004.

There's a bottle of Maker's Mark in my future.

GravatarLooking good there Atrios. I was by the big ugly tourist spaceship at 16th and JFK.

Gravatar Hey, George! Know why we follow the Geneva Convention? It's not because we're alturistic; it's because we want other countries to follow the Geneva Convention when they capture our soldiers!

One would have to assume that George gives a flip about our troops.

GravatarIf that's hundreds, we are legion.

GravatarHere's an interesting tidbit: The WhiteHouse has been scrubbing recordings of key Preznishul speeches and radio addresses fform the National web-page. Anyone care to guess why that might be the case? What's gone down the memory hole?

GravatarOMG! Drudge has the sexiest pic of THK and Big John . Does he think this is unflattering? Because I think it's amazing.

GravatarJust to mention: There's another thread up there (and it's already damn long), but it wouldn't show up here until I took the www. out of the Eschaton URL. Blogspot bein' batty again.

GravatarDoes the East Coast contingent sign out about now?
BTW??? WTF is with Daylight Time this year? asn't that supposed to haqve been last weekend?
But, no, now it's next weekend?
Who tf's in charge here, anyway???

GravatarWTF??? if there's another thread up, im not finding it

Gravatarthe last mac IE is version 5.

GravatarWhat explosive was used in Madrid?

GravatarOf what are the red graphics in the image indicative?

i assume that's atrios.

Gravatari never had the www in my atrios url, and I still havent got the thread...

GravatarKonopelli,

You may have to add or remove a www to see it, I was blind as well until I made
that change.

Kerry/Edwards In A LANDSLIDE!!

GravatarJeffrey Davis, wtf do you want from Clinton? how is someone recuperating from quadruple bypass supposed to look?

Tell you what.... have someone split your chest open and dick around with your heart, then wait a month and see how you look.

He showed up alive and he brought out thousands of supporters-who cares if he looked tired? He probably was tired.

Gravatar WTF is with Daylight Time this year?

Daylight Time

GravatarDon't let cnn's crya phillips off the hook she kept the 100s and 100s lie going.

~~~
Man, I can't wait to see the Phila crowds when the Eagles win the SuperBowl. Bonus, President Kerry will be in office.
GravatarI hope all those people signed their loyalty oath cards before attending, wouldn't want any hecklers.
Oh, that's right, Clinton was stumping for Kerry and Democrats are open to the public.
No doubt a cause of concern for those members of the 4th Reich now residing in the whitehouse. 8 days and counting.
Gravatarpractically all the clocks at my house are radio-synced to WWVB anyway. The computers all synchronize system time using NTP, which comes built-in on a Mac or a Unix system but can also be had for Windoze.
My phone runs twelve seconds slow, though; that's just the way Sprint runs their network.
GravatarWTF??? if there's another thread up, im not finding it
Refresh until it reappears. But close comments first.
GravatarWWVB
Gravatardunno bout the resto ya, but I cant raise that new trhread at all
GravatarMy sister was at the Kerry rally at FAU in Boca Raton yesterday. She said it was total madness. She had "blue" tickets which guaranteed good seats and they closed the gates when she was 10 people away from the metal detectors. The crowd went crazy and actually stormed the gates! Thousands and thousands were there.
One Freeper monkey was video taping the crowd with Bush buttons on his clothes. Old veterans were in the Freeper's face screaming at him that he was a nazi traitor and Bush was stealing Social Security. The cops told the Freeper he should leave since they didn't want to protect him from the old folks. They only let him stay after he promised to keep his mouth shut. He wound up leaving humiliated. He had no idea liberals were so tough.
If Rove steals this one there will be torches and pitch fork wielding citizens in the streets.
GravatarJust a little voting news: Today my brother-in-law and nephew voted in Miami for Kerry/Edwards (and Castor). In 2000, b-i-l voted for Bush, nephew was too young. He said they waited in line for an hour to vote (at 3pm today).
Count +2 for Kerry/Edwards!
Gravatarmoeman,
F'ing right! E-A-G-L-E-S, EAGLES!!!
Anyone having an election night party?
GravatarJust got back from early voting in Winston-Salem NC. Voted straight ticket for the first time ever. Stood in line for two hours and didn't hear any complaints about the wait. Just hope those touch screens work right.
spbaker | Email | Homepage | 10.25.04 - 3:51 pm |
Hope you didn't forget to vote for Prez. In NC you have to vote mark for President explicitly, even if you vote straight ticket.
Gravatargot it...yr a pal, kent...'preeshiate it
GravatarYes! That is a very sexy photo. Poor demented Sludge--wouldn't know hot if it bit him in the butt.
Gravatartheodorocks--i always thought (to the extent I though about it at all) it was the third Sunday...dont know why...thanks, bubba
Gravatar The picture (without scratchy red writing). Yahoo news has that one, and some other nice ones.
GravatarWhere (seriously) does one procure a pitchfork? I've looked on Ebay and in other farm implement type spots on the net...no dice. I've already got torches, but want to be prepared. Rusty pitchforks would be OK.
Gravatardoes Andrea Mitchell have an adam's apple?
GravatarIn NC you have to vote mark for President explicitly, even if you vote straight ticket.
Oooohh, tha's sneaky...Jim Crow kind stuff
GravatarLisa, I'd stick to Safari if I were you -- I was a little wary of it at first, but I think I've found exactly one website where I have to switch back to Explorer (and that was only after the site re-did all of their Java stuff).
John and Teresa Kerry look like the cover of a romance novel in that picture. I think it's adorable, but Drudge may be trying to remind us of that supposed ex-Kerry girlfriend with the website.
(Though even her cheesy romance novel starring a thinly disguised Kerry described him as a miracle in the sack, so I don't think that hurt Kerry too much.)
Gravatari believe to get haloscan to work in the ancient mac/IE browser, you need to set max-width for .MainTable, not just width. that should do it.
GravatarWhere (seriously) does one procure a pitchfork? I've looked on Ebay and in other farm implement type spots on the net...no dice. I've already got torches, but want to be prepared. Rusty pitchforks would be OK.
piegrrrl
ck your local indie hardware store or sometimes garage or estate sales if you need a rusty one
GravatarI have a nice, sharp, four-prong pitchfork. Had it years...Tines about a foot-15" long, on about a four-foot pole. Weighs about five lbs, max...helluva weapon in a melee...
I also have a sharpened epee with which i am modestly adept (my dad taught me to fence when I was a kid...he fenced intercollegiate foil and epee in college in the '40s).
GravatarOK, let's compare this picture with Bush's appearance in Greeley, CO which drew 10,000 at the most.
GravatarGolly, if the City of Philadelphia employs that many people, it must be RICH RICH RICH!
I was at the rally. I was there from the beginning and into the clean-up afterwards. I was there with my mom, my 95-year-old grandma and a friend. And none of us work for the city. I ran into someone I've been doing visibility rallies with. Saw someone from my hometown. There were kids, old folks, students, union members, office workers...basically the only person there that I knew of who works for the city is Mayor John Street.
I had VIP tickets, pretty close to the front (and got about as close as 6 people away from Kerry himself on his way out) and the crowd was pumped, determined, energetic...
And not one of us had to sign a loyalty oath to get in. I didn't even see a single Bushie protestor.
One week, folks. Don't let up for a minute between now and then. Drop by your local Democratic HQ to do something.
Gravatar"Yes, technically it's a mandate, but its a very close mandate, and Kerry isn't that popular anyways, he's only been elected president once."
Evilboy
I think it'll be more like this: "Well, Kerry had a surprisingly large win, but you can't call it a mandate because most Kerry voters were voting AGAINST Bush. Kerry himself remains unpopular. He just happens to have benefited from Michael Moore's smear campaign against the president."
GravatarYesterday, Timmy pointed out that no president ever won who was below 50% in the polls this late in the game.
Voila! Today, Gallup comes out with a poll showing the chimpster at 52%. Tis not hard to figure out. Between that and Andrea (gad my daughter's name Andrea, do you think she will object if I change it now, she's 23)my day was ruined. But pix have cheered me up.
I really feel it's gonna be a landslide.
GravatarI hope all those people signed their loyalty oath cards before attending, wouldn't want any hecklers.
Oh, that's right, Clinton was stumping for Kerry and Democrats are open to the public.
:o)
Gravatarabc just said the crowd was 30,000!
GravatarNow, can someone tell me why I have to enter the screen name and email address for every post, despite haloscan setting cookies for each?
In the past, the appropriate text was automatically inserted in the appropriate text boxes.
:o)
GravatarThe Kerry/Edwards campaign should just show Kerry and crowd reaction in the last television ads. It would show emotion and convey a sense of momentum,
Those crowd pictures you don't see anywhere else, including my LA Times.
Thanks for posting them.
GravatarShit, man, there were hundreds and hundreds of people waiting here to meet Kerry at the airport for an unannounced stop. I can't imagine what it'd be like for an actual rally. Fuck Mrs. Greenspan. Bukkake's too good for her.
Gravatarpiegrrrl,
Try garden forks. The English ones are supurb. Mine is ready and waiting in the compost pile.
GravatarTechnically true that hundreds lined the streets - because there were tens of thousands *in and around* the streets. It was inspirational. Folks of all ages and classes from all over the region. My only worry was that here where the city is about half African-American, only about 5% of the crowd appeared black. Maybe many black Philadelphians have jobs which don't allow the luxury of taking off half a workday to cheer. I can only hope. My wife and I are taking the day off 11/2 to help folks here in West Philly to the polls.
GravatarIf you look at the photo, you can see that it divides into the red ticket area in front, the blue ticket area just behind and the white ticket area in the back. Red tickets are VIPs, I guess; blue tickets are handed out by various Dem-connected folks, and white tickets are people who just showed up. I was in the middle of the blue-ticket crowd and could just barely make out the speakers if I jumped up and down. You can bet that all the white-ticket folks couldn't see a thing and where there because they were committed. A good sign, I think.
What's up with the flattering (yes, JFK and THK look great!) picture of the first couple elect on Drudge this evening?
GravatarI'm in love with that beautiful brunette towards the back-left.
The look on her face is so passionate, yet thoughtful.
I can tell she is highly intelligent, and deeply concerned about the path her country is on.
And she is incredibly cute, with a lovely figure (nice, tight-fitting sweater), luminous green eyes, and those Kerry earrings top it all off.
Don't look too hard for her, 'cause she's MINE!!
GravatarFine, there's at least two dozens people on this pic.
BTW, I recognised you on that pic, thanks to the grey turtleneck and tie.
GravatarGood to see my old hometown kicking ass (or arse as it's known here)!
GravatarHere's the spin: John Kerry looks small and weak next to Bill Clinton, even 6 weeks post op.
GravatarWait for January 20th, that many people will show up to make sure he gets the fuck out of Washington.
attaturk
Hey, there's an idea! I can see it now; a parade of gaily-colored (mostly orange and white) trucks and vans winding it's way through DC, turning onto Pennsylvania, horns beeping, freshly washed & waxed, chrome gleaming in the afternoon sun, banners flying...
U-HAULS FOR BUSH!!
We'll put some adventure in yer move, Georgie!
GravatarHere's a paragraph from a story about the crowd estimate:
'But if there was any question of Mr. Clinton's star power, the crowd in Philadelphia should put it to rest. Philadelphia Fire Commissioner Lloyd Ayers said more than a 100,000 people attended the midday rally.'
From CBS News.
GravatarEnoch;
My wife and I were near the front of the white ticket area. We were just beyond 16th street, and were able to see the speakers on a large video screen which was set up to face Love Park. It felt great to be amid so many energized Kerry supporters.
Bush is going down.
Gravatarpiegrrrl: Any small-town hardware store oe feed & grain will have 'em. Hell, Home Depot might even have 'em. They're usually bare steel, so just a quick soak in salt water will rust 'em up nice.
GravatarI was watching Paula Zahn Now just a few minutes ago screaming at the tv. They are spinning the crowd at the rally today as a desperate attempt by the Kerry campaign to connect with black voters. They had a nice big quote box up with words from Karl Rove.
I know better then to watch these people. I always wind up yelling.
Gravatar2 people, not hundreds
GravatarI hate to sound like a know-it-all, but I believe Jim Hightower should get credit for the "born on third and thinks he hit a triple" phrase. If I'm wrong, then I apologize. I would like to point out that I knew Carl Sagan was dead. Heh. Heh.
GravatarHah, you libs think that's a crowd?
Why, when I was drunk and high on blow at Woodstock...but maybe I've said too much already.
GravatarThis site made my day (and gave me goosebumps!)
KERRY/EDWARDS IN A LANDSLIDE!
Kiss me, I'm an Ohio Swing vote!
GravatarWhat's with the little red guy jumping off the building? Bizarre.
GravatarKiss me, I'm an Ohio Swing vote!
Lori
Smmmmmmmmmmm-ACK!
GravatarAtrios-
That's funny. If I am figuring angles correctly, we were standing somwhat near each other; I was at 16th & Arch, watching the big screen.
Gravatarthis constant banter and waste of bandwidth which is not free but highly constrained by available servers and such should be above everyone having too get their own word in when some agent most likely with a bank of desktops who just hops from board to board to incite the aggressive types
with any sort of idiotic blather and cause a melt down of any talk
quit it...
Gravatarignore the trolls...
Gravatarum, I'm not good at math, but that looks just a LITTLE bigger than the loyalty oath rally held by monkeyboy. It was nice when ABC showed them one after the other in tonight's broadcast......Bush has great support............ok, if you say so.
GravatarMy CSS fix finally made its way onto the server! I rule!
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH A
Fuck you, trolls!
GravatarThere are 12,000 in that picture.
Greenspan teaching Andrea trickle-down (probably in many ways).
Gravatar(counting out loud)
One....two....ten...fourteen.....twen..ty-five...
Awright, 60.
Yeah, Andrea was SO overcounting.......bitch.
GravatarWhich one is you, Atrios?
GravatarHere's the spin: John Kerry looks small and weak next to Bill Clinton, even 6 weeks post op.
No, here's the spin: Bush looks like a pretender to the throne in that company.
GravatarAs someone said above, the blimp said "Boilermakers for Kerry" leading friend and I there to wonder: was it the profession, the drink, or a few roudy Purdue fans?
Local news tonight said "100,000" followed, on the same station, by Peter Jennings saying "about 30,000." Don't they have f*cking professionals handling these things?
GravatarWow, it is impressive that they got so many people to sign the oath of loyalty..... DOH!, Wrong F-ing guy !
GravatarIt was really special the way MSNBC carried Clinton's talk (celeb power thing, y'know), but after Kerry said thanks and made a little smalltalk, then launched into his speech, they cut away.
There was a few minutes of visuals only, of Kerry speaking and of the crowd. Of "hundreds." Some dipstick at MSNBC thought we'd all rather hear Andrea Mitchell's inane prattle with another NBC reporter than what (I hope and pray) will be the next president of the U.S. and leader of the free world had to say.
CNN (Cable Neocon Network) did the same thing, only the visuals of the crowd and Kerry speaking were cut even shorter than on MSNC.
What a bunch of crap.
GravatarThe BBC did the same: they cut away from Kerry to Bush entering a rally surrounded by dry ice and cheerleaders. WTF? Since when does a sitting President need the acccoutrements of a rock star to make an impression?
However, every European newspaper had Kerry and Clinton on the front page, right next to the Bush explosives incompetence story. This administration is going down, and we in the rest of the world will smile as we watch them fall...
GravatarFor Angryffemt in particular and any one who wants inspiration and many good laughs- go to the Inthesetimes.com site and read Margaret Cho's piece- she has phenomenal comic talent and courage to match.
I needed an antidote to the story about the Bushevent in WIlkes Barre this weekend where they removed two ticket holders, one who is being "deployed" to Irag in 2 weeks an another guy due to the fact that, well, he was a Democrat though how they knew that is mysterious since he was not wearing any identifying buttons t-shirts or anything- they were told they weren't "on the master list". I think we can surmise that there were bugs picking up their conversation as they waited in line. THis is truly scarey stuff.
the combination of this blog, the turnout of my fellow Pennsylvanians in Philly and that Margaret Cho piece will get me through another day.
GravatarBest pic of Atrios I've ever seen...
Lucky bastard!
Gravatar"CNN (Cable Neocon Network) did the same thing, only the visuals of the crowd and Kerry speaking were cut even shorter than on MSNC."
Ah, I wrote off CNN [International] when they consistently reported "thousands" of protesters at an Italian anti-globalisation march years ago, and that with a short clip at the end of the 30 minutes news block. Police estimated that event at a million.
Even funnier was when they had a reporter on site at the 2001 Geneva event, whom the talking head in the studio consistently asked according to the "these violent anti-globalisation hooligans" script, despite the on-site reporter's constant correction that the hooligans are a few dozen or hundred black-clad guys mixing among the hundreds of thousands of peaceful marchers, but police mysteriously only attacks when those guys mysteriously slip away all of a sudden.
GravatarSo pissed that CNN cut away from Kerry. They aired an interminable amount of Bush's speech at wherever. The next job after Kerry gets elected and we take the Senate? Media Re-regulation. Cable too!
Gravatarheh.. Bush is going down like his mom the day before rent is due.
