I'MMA LET YOU FINISH

GravatarFinally, some new threads! Oooh. And they look so good on me, too.

Gravatar"Melissa" v. "Megan."

GravatarVoter suppression is the October surprise.

http://www.newdonkey.com/2004/10...10/rove- mo.html

This is bare knuckle stuff.

GravatarI don't know if someone else linked this in another post, but it's genius!

Take your pick, WMV or QT

http://www.dangeroussquid.com/bb/abd.mov

or

http://www.dangeroussquid.com/bb/abd.wmv

GravatarSalon.com has a cover story about a NASA/JPL physicist analyzing the photos of Bush's jacket from the debate...pretty convincing evidence that he was wearing a device of some kind.

Not that anyone here ever believed he was just wearing a wrinkled jacket.

Gravatarsorry for OT--wrong thread.

GravatarLet the e-mail soooooooaaaaaarrrrrr!

GravatarHahaha Jon Stewart just said (in regards to Rudy Guiliani's awful statement), "I think my brain is broken."

You and me both, Jon, you and me both.

GravatarOf course, if it looks as if we may come up short playing it strictly according to whatever arbitrarily defined rules happen to be in effect in a given jurisdiction, we may have to resort to some creative finagling to tilt things slightly in our favor. This is an old and time honored tradition in American elections, and not really all that big a deal. I really fail to see what all the fuss is about.

GravatarNew thread

GravatarHere in Ohio, people know what's going on. They talk about it on the radio every day.

Still, insufficient outrage on stations like NPR.

GravatarThe PBS and some others do address this, but their take is always that this takes place in both the Republican and the Democratic camps, which is not true. I guess this is the new balanced media.

GravatarThe Daily Show. One of the few things that I miss in my life, having chosen to give up cable.

And sports.

And the Simpsons, and Jeopardy, and the History Channel, and Family Guy, and the Discovery channel, and...GOD, I miss cable.

GravatarFuck the bastards. We got plenny mojo here in NEO and we're GONNA make it happen for Big John.

GravatarMy... Ms. Megan put her address up there for all the world to see? Do we have some brave Ohio residents who would be willing to challenge HER voter registration--or more?

GravatarAlso note that in Summit county, the Board of Elections threatened to indict the Republican who issued phony challenges for felonies. They have to have "reason to believe," i.e., first-hand personal knowledge. The fact that a person would not or did not receive mail from a Republican party officer is not enough.

Even more pathetic, look how the Republican bigwigs, knowing that these challenges were largely bogus and probably felonious, snookered gullible college students and other Republican losers and halfwits to file the challenges for them.

GravatarWhen you email Megan Harrington of the College Republicans be sure to ask her about ripping old people off

GravatarRepublican challengers could face felony charges for claiming to have "reason to believe" when in fact they have no firsthand personal knowledge of the person they are challenging.

GravatarYou know, I don't have this to worry about because in Indiana my vote won't matter much anyway. But if someone challenged my right to vote, they would spend the next few minutes picking their teeth off the floor.

GravatarA.K. Ron:

What's just as appalling is that Ms. Megan clearly filed the challenge based on the person's race, because he had a "black" name.

GravatarAll these stories provide evidence with which to hang the bastards later. One hopes.

GravatarJett:

Again, it would be a LOT more fun to ask her in person, n'est ce pas?

Her address is available for all the world to see.

GravatarLooks to me like someone printed out all of the forms and then gave them to Republicans who lived in the appropriate counties to sign. I doubt Megan has any clue who Jermaine is or where he lives.

GravatarHer handwriting is that of a deranged psychopath.

GravatarI did email dear Megan and asked her politely if she would like to be walked in handcuffs into a Federal courthouse next year.

GravatarMy email to the loverly Ms. Harrington:

Ms Harrington,

At what point did you decide that Democracy was dead?

Was it before or after you became brainwashed into the Cult of Bush?

I think I will ask my brother, who is an Ohio Resident challenge your voter status, since it is obvious that you are subverting democracy.

Best Regards,

David

I wonder if she replies.

GravatarHer handwriting is that of a deranged psychopath.

I believe that's a good description of anyone who still believes Bush to be a good president.

GravatarJust got back from my precinct captain meeting. Our district is a mixture of income levels and races/nationalities, and it is overwhelmingly Democratic. Our organizer is saying that he is expecting an 84% turnout! Not to minimize voter suppression, and we damn well better see someone serving serious jail time for this. But why do I have the feeling that the Republicans are trying to hold back the flood by putting their finger in the dike.

GravatarThey are gonna drown!

GravatarAnother Bruce:

Finger in the dike?

I'm not gonna say it. I'm not gonna say it...

GravatarGee, Megan's mom sounds a little stressed on the phone...

Anyone else get that impression?

GravatarShe's just a Bill O'Reilly Sockpuppet.

I imagine there are lot's of those now.

GravatarDavid:

That is so perfect! Yes! Challenge HER registration! She is clearly trying to subvert the process, so it's clear that SHE is the one unqualified to vote.

GravatarI still think that bulge was GB's girdle. Made him look taller.

GravatarYDJ:

On the phone?

GravatarWHY ARE THEY ALL NAMED KATHERINE OR CATHERINE?

GravatarDamn, I really tried to come up with another metaphor, really I did.

GravatarThe good news is that the Rethugs are essentially revealing that they have calculated that they have lost this election. Their desperate vote-suppression efforts are not going to endear them to the minority communities, either. Minority citizens are rapidly increasing in number relative to the populus at large (see the Emerging Democratic Majority), and the GOP is insuring that they will lose that critical voting bloc forever. Dumb asses.

GravatarYou can email Megan Harrington at her college email address: megan.harrington@toledo.edu.

Got it off of the toledo student directory.

GravatarLJ - Why, yes. I used the ol' 411. They were most helpful in looking up the Harringtons on Pemberton Dr. in Toledo.

I can't get over the power of the internet. Unicorn bless Al Gore!

Megan, unfortunately, was not at home.

I don't think Mom's happy about Megan's new popularity.

Gravatarspeaking of college republicans. the seattle times had a story about their slimey and misleading fundraising practices --

ripping off elderly gopers for incredible sums of money

Fund-raising group milks vulnerable senior citizens

By David Postman and Jim Brunner
Seattle Times staff reporters

The College Republican National Committee has raised $6.3 million this year through an aggressive and misleading fund-raising campaign that collected money from senior citizens who thought they were giving to the election efforts of President Bush and other top Republicans.

Many of the top donors were in their 80s and 90s. The donors wrote checks — sometimes hundreds and, in at least one case, totaling more than $100,000 — to groups with official sounding-names such as "Republican Headquarters 2004," "Republican Elections Committee" and the "National Republican Campaign Fund."

But all of those groups, according to the small print on the letters, were simply projects of the College Republicans, who collected all of the checks.

And little of the money went to election efforts.

Of the money spent by the group this year, nearly 90 percent went to direct-mail vendors and postage expenses, according to records filed with the Internal Revenue Service.

Some of the elderly donors, meanwhile, wound up bouncing checks and emptying their bank accounts.

GravatarSO exactly who does Halliburton subcontract? The explosives are gone, Halliburton is a big Caspain subcontractor (Bosnia, Chechnya, Caspian offshores).

Suppose Cheney's side deals for moving these explosivbes just happened to coincide with a terror attack. The false flag method, enable true ones to stage an event to cause a poll surge and enable further fascist response.

Cheney is all over this, the FBI is all over him, the CIA has tracked the bombs at least to a disembark stage.

This is just the tip o' da big iceberg. The SS Bushtanic will go down in flames after the American public sends him a pick slip. I look forward to my 2 cents' worth of GTFO to Bush.

GravatarMaybe African-Americans in Ohio could bring baseball bats to the polls on Tuesday.

Just in case, you know, baseball games happen to break out.

Because people are, you know, bored from standing in the long lines and want a little EXERCISE.

Just sayin', baseball IS America's pastime.

GravatarYDJ:

You CALLED? OMFG! Priceless!

GravatarHey, you know what's great?

If Megan, or Ms. Miller, or any of these other patsies that the RNC had do their dirty work for them, wind up doing a little time in stir over this... I really don't think we're gonna be looking at "lifelong Republicans" here. Maybe we can get David Brock to start a support group for these tools.

GravatarThat's pretty fucked up- the hearing was funny though.

Glad to hear there's still some people with common sense left in the world.

And yes, release the hounds!! indict some of these bastards.

GravatarIANAL, but isn't the fact that Republican Party officials are encouraging people to file bogus voter eligibility challenges evidence of a conspiracy to tamper with the elections? Hopefully, some zealous Democratic DA will move foreward on this quickly.

GravatarSo we'll type our fingers off in outrage about vote stealing and fraud. And while we're frothing at the mouth in indignation the votes will be gone. What is the DNC doing NOW, not on elction day, but NOW? Words without action, my friends, mean sqaut.

GravatarLJ - I called again and left a couple messages on the machine. Mom's gone chicken on us. Well, she ASKED me to call back later, so I did. I left two messages 'cause you know, I just ran out the machine on the first one.

I told Mom that Megan could be indicted and charged with a felony unless she had personal knowledge that Mr. Doctashock was ineligible to vote. I apologized for any hassles she (Mon) might be going through, but reminded her that Mr. Doctashock has to appear in court to defend his right to vote, and that just ain't 'Murkan, you know?

It's kinda a lot more hassle for our buddy Jermaine than for Megan...thus far.

I have the feeling that Megan's hassles have only begun.

Rock on, Buckeyes. You know what you need to do.

GravatarWhew! Thank you, Atrios, for the work-safe heads up. If you hadn't, I might not have known to click through to the parts that AREN'T safe for work!

New rule: after the election, every link posted here should be no more than one click away from porn.

GravatarDearest Megan,

I realize that you are probably being inundated with hateful emails from loathsome lefties regarding you doing your just and rightful duty to suppress vote fraud. I just wanted to write and say "Don't let them get you down!!!"

Fact is, this uppity Negro Jermaine had it coming, if only for having the gall to live in a White neighborhood where he clearly does not belong. Send him and his "right to vote" back to the ghetto, I say! I mean, he was basically asking for it with a name like Jermaine -- you didn't know for a fact he was a Negro but he sure was, wasn't he? Hahaha.

Don't worry - the White God will smile upon your selfless act forcible disenfranchisement; may the diseased Civil Rights Act burn to ashes along with his illegitimate voter registration card!

Keep up the good work!! In fact, I'm so impressed that I'm making you one of my "Jackboot of Freedom" award winners!

Yours in Victory,

Cheney's Third Nipple

GravatarWait a minute...Registered mail?

Kee-rist on a popsicle stick. Where are the Bushies getting the money for this kinda action? Seriously. Registered mail is EXPENSIVE. You don't get special rates on that. The MINIMUM charge is $7.50 per mailpiece, in addition to the .37, because processing it is a major bitch.

I'm really, really glad I'm not a postal clerk in Ohio. I'd be cussing the Republicans a lot more than I already do.

GravatarYDJ:

Good for you! Maybe Mama can convince her little monster that she's gone too far this time.

GravatarSwine!

I agree that we should take this as a hopeful sign. If the Rethugs thought they could win this fair and square, I doubt they'd be pushing vote suppression quite so hard.

GravatarThe best way to deal with voter suppression like this is quite simple.

If you want to challenge 1000 voters you forfeit 1000 of your sides votes. If one of your challenges succeeds you get one vote back for your side. If your challenge fails the person you challenged not only gets to vote, but you forfeit 1 of your set aside number of votes. So if you challenge 1000, with 10 successful it will cost you 990 votes to stop the 10.

There has to be some sort of deterent to this amoral and criminal behaviour.

GravatarCan anyone in OH challenge her?

2nd, can he file a suit against her so that she has to hire a lawyer, go to court to defend, pay his lawyer fees, etc. that would be the absolute best thing to have happen to Megan---

GravatarCan someone, will someone, please collect all of these suppression stories and post them in one place before they disappear? I ain't got the know-how of the internets, or I'd do it.

GravatarSomebody better call Buffy.

They're trying to stake the heart of it all and it's fighting back.

Hee!

GravatarOnce all the dust clears from this wretched campaign, we need to work on something important.

We need to make election fraud, officially, legally, an act of treason.

We need to change the law so that anyone who tampers with someone else's right to vote will be put in jail for the rest of their life. Without parole.

Clearly, the current punishment for this sort of anti-American behavior is simply not sufficient to deter people from it. So, I don't see any alternative right now but to make the punishment much worse.

GravatarDamn, the megan.harrington@toledo.edu address bounced.

GravatarTell all the jeebus freakos that as a test of their faith they should vote for Kerry and let the jeebus magically rig things for Bush.Just like that homicidal guy Abraham.
notch

Something tells me they don't trust Jesus quite that far. But verily I say unto them, "Because ye are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I shall spue thee out of my mouth."

Gravatarpaint it blue, Democratic underground has a forum for posting these stories

GravatarSo, I don't see any alternative right now but to make the punishment much worse.

Agreed. However, instead of life in prison, I'd say a fine of $500,000 per violation, with all the money going to voter education programs.

Why should the state support these guys in prison? They should be paying us!

GravatarI guess this is the new balanced media.
Echidne

I read your post on this at EOTS, and you're right. What's really staggering is that the Right's tactics are overtly, plainly racist. The Dems' tactics - if the allegations are true - seem to involve filing registrations under cartoon-character names that no voter could actually use.

The next time PBS does one of their maudlin, reverent tributes to the civil-rights movement, may they be struck down by Divine Lightning (yours will do nicely, Echidne).

GravatarIf you want to challenge 1000 voters you forfeit 1000 of your sides votes. If one of your challenges succeeds you get one vote back for your side.

I like that: it's NFL rules. You challenge and fail, you lose a timeout. In this case, your own vote.

Gravatar"So we'll type our fingers off in outrage about vote stealing and fraud. And while we're frothing at the mouth in indignation the votes will be gone. What is the DNC doing NOW, not on elction day, but NOW?"

There are at least 10,000 lawyers and paralegals fighting these very cases in court, bb. There are at least 4 lawsuits underway in Florida, for instance.

But, if you mean 'Why hasn't Bush been struck by a lightning bolt?", have you suggested to the RNC that this could be a great campaign theme:

"I'm SO fucking evil, the fact that God hasn't blown me out of my chair with a lightning bolt PROVES I've got Jeebus on my side. I'm George Bush, and I approved this message."

"Words without action, my friends, mean sqaut.
bb"

Actually, words are very powerful. And if you will look to the sidebar at atrios, you will see that a lot of action is being taken. A lot of DNC money is being spent fighting for political power, so it is a myth that the Dems are just taking it lying down.

I think that's always been a myth, in fact. We've come a long way, baby, but only if we avoid getting knocked in the head by some thug with a club.

They are Devo.

--

GravatarAgreed. However, instead of life in prison, I'd say a fine of $500,000 per violation, with all the money going to voter education programs.

I offer a compromise: let's make it both $500,000 per violation, and a life sentence per violation.

Gravatar"Can anyone in OH challenge her?

2nd, can he file a suit against her so that she has to hire a lawyer, go to court to defend, pay his lawyer fees, etc. that would be the absolute best thing to have happen to Megan---
kris"

The courts aren't exactly going to sit back and let their dockets fill with this stuff! After ten of these black voters show up and prove they are being falsely accused, it's Fifth Degree Felony, baybee.

If she keeps at her ignorant behavior, adios, would-be R thug. Her political efforts may be better deployed negotiating with the Crips for pie on Saturday nights.

--

Gravatarboth $500,000 per violation, and a life sentence per violation.
Seraphiel

Works for me! That way, they can pay for their own prison expenses.

Gravatar"We need to make election fraud, officially, legally, an act of treason."

What we need is a No More Jobs in Government list, with justifications.

For instance, California's SecState, Kevin Shelley. No More Jobs in Government. Let him be a janitor. He did everything he could to unseat legally-elected Gray Davis, and certified an election so rife with fraud that there is NO way he didn't know what he was doing, and no way his pocket didn't get fatter by three zeroes for his trouble.

No More Jobs in Government.

Deport Governor Vore Fraud of Austria. Illegal immigrant, tax avoider, serial sexual offender, thug, Enron conspirator, felon vote fraud conspirator.

Do not reelect Kevin Shelley. For ANYTHING.

GravatarGovernor Vote Fraud of Austria.

GravatarGlad I went to the site and read about the latest Repugnican dirty trick.

Sad that some of the people on the thread thought that we should do the same in reverse.

GravatarOk I just love that the tattoo porn site is talking about GOTV.

We may be a divided nation, but at least we're engaged in the political process!

GravatarSpeaking of fun in OH....
Guess what fell out of my paper today? A full-color circular from Mr.Disenfranchise-ment Himself SoS Ken Blackwell. It's a full sheet of newsprint w/ 2-! color pictures of the guy and tells us 'how to vote correctly' - he doesn't want any problems in OH. It actually has the right dates on it, but the info is so basic. Unbelievable. My tax dollars at work

GravatarPAUL:

I dunno anything about the issues you raise about Kevin Shelley.

I do know that he stopped the proliferation of paperless touchscreen voting machines in California and has been catching hell ever since.

I smell a Schwartzenegger smear campaign.

With a Republican as Secretary of State, Arnold could conceivably deliver California's electoral votes at some future.

Republicans like to plan ahead.

I think those Shelley smears are bullshit.

GravatarI know a girl named Megan Harrington. She's totally volunteering in El Salvador right now and has nothing to do with College Republicans of Toledo. I hope she doesn't get some accidental hate mail because of this.

GravatarJohn Kerry can take Ohio!

All he needs to do is have Spinal Tap play his next appearance!

HELLO CLEVELAND!

then e-mail CNN about it.

GravatarCan anyone in OH challenge her?

2nd, can he file a suit against her so that she has to hire a lawyer, go to court to defend, pay his lawyer fees, etc. that would be the absolute best thing to have happen to Megan---

The person Megan challenged can sue her under 42 USC 1985, colloquially known as the "Ku Klux Klan Act" for conspiring with others to prevent her from voting, whether or not Megan chooses to wear a pointy hood.

GravatarTTcrewes:

Looks like she can't be challenged. I read the form she filed, and it says a challenge must be filed at least 11 days before the election. So ixne on that idea.

However, others upthread have pointed out that she could well be in violation of a few state and federal laws (felonies, no less) for interfering with this person's right to vote.

GravatarMs. Harringtons phone number appears to be 419-531-2411.

GravatarLook, what Ms. Harrington did was reprehensible and she will be punished for it. It will bite her in the ass. Let's not stoop to their level with obscenities threats and harassment of a -- misguided -- private individual. As much as I think she sucks I am not going to call her and email her and play into the hands of a "Democratic Hatefest" chip on the shoulder. We are better than that.

GravatarThe voter in question is in the Yahoo People directory. They did not even bother to check public records.

GravatarWho is the party of the FRIVOLOUS LAWSUIT again?

GravatarNo one wants to believe there's an organized campaign to disenfranchise people the one right that separates our great nation from all others.

GravatarAtrios, that link IS NOT WORK-SAFE.

NOT EVEN CLICKING ON THE LINK.

PLEASE REVISE YOUR POSTING ACCORDINGLY BEFORE OTHER PEOPLE GET INADVERTENTLY SCREWED!

Gravatarput a nice gop-friendly subject heading, so she'll actually open the email.

GravatarNot that anyone here ever believed he was just wearing a wrinkled jacket.

Paul Begala did.

Or at least he said so on CNN.

Of course, I'm far from convinced that Begala would decline to participate in a Republican conspiracy to install a robot in the White House, if he thought there was something in it for him.

Gravatar"The voter in question is in the Yahoo People directory. They did not even bother to check public records.
DC | Email | Homepage | 10.29.04 - 9:13 am | #"

That's becuase they are not interested in filing GENUINE challenges. Their goal is disrupt the voting, not improve it. The model they chose to test for valid addresses was chosen to maximize the number of returned letters, not actually verify addresses.

They chose a rigged process to generate the most challenges, irrespective of the validity of those challenges.

-

GravatarPeople who do things like this should go to jail for a long, long, time.

Doing this in a government that is of the people, by the people, and for the people is akin to rebellion.

GravatarFiling a false challenge against her isn't the answer. It may be tempting, but it can also be prosecuted.

A better course of action, by far, would be to call the DA in her area and urge them to file charges against her. It might not have any effect (or they may be planning something already) but doing to her what she did to other people could get you in a lot more trouble than it's worth.

GravatarWho's the DA in Toledo or Akron? Name, ph. # or e-mail.

GravatarSure, let's let Dick Tracy and Mary Poppins elect a President. This race bating blather is a textbook case for the electoral college; to prevent some corrupt area from suddenly presenting votes like in the Kennedy election and, then influence beyond its present electoral college. Hail to checks and balances - read the Federalist Papers.

GravatarIf Megan is falsely swearing to deprive black people the right to vote under the 15th Amendment, why wouldn't they have an open & shut class action section 1983 civil rights case against her? Any hungry Ohio civil rights attys out there? And if it's an intentional tort, no discharge in bankruptcy, poor baby.

GravatarYa know what is really pathetic and frustrating? They are counting on Democrats having integrity, restraint, and a real regard for the law. To them, these are failings.

As a note to Old Grizzly's comment, it was remarked on AA today that one of the great fears they have in a loss to Kerry is that ALL the lies and illegal bull, like with Halliburton, will come out, and they will lose their respective shirts.

Gravatar"PAUL:

I dunno anything about the issues you raise about Kevin Shelley....I smell a Schwartzenegger smear campaign....I think those Shelley smears are bullshit.
Lou_Tullio"

Then inform yourself. 17 counties voted on illegal counting software, with Diebold employees allowed to move vote blocks around. A FALSE ELECTION. And Shelley signed off on it, so he is the enemy.

I'm not saying we need an R SecState. FUCK the Rs, NO MORE JOBS IN GOVERNMENT.

Kevin Shelley served Rove and Governor Vote Fraud of Austria, and he shall pay.

GravatarLet's make sure little Miss Muffit Megan gets served a subpoena and indicted as well. Might keep her ragged ass out of law school where she'll train to be another Karl Rove Jr.

GravatarI think we should get sweet little Megan expelled. We need to send polite emails to the Dean of Students at the University of Toledo (or whoever handles disciplinary measures against students performing unethical or illegal behavior), inform them of her unethical/illegal actions and start a campaign to have her kicked out of school.

GravatarThe young lady deserves to be famous! Hencewith, I refer to voter suppression as "Meganing!" ("Those blacks really got Meganed on November 2nd!") Spread the word!
