I'MMA LET YOU FINISH

The call scam is pathetic-- but this
is really worrisome as an election day trick!

frist

GravatarJaysus.

They can't even do dirty tricks right. Lee Atwater's ghost is gonna pay Rove a visit and tell him he's a fuckup, I think.

Oh, and not frist.

GravatarFreep the MSNBC poll now!

GravatarEven better...

Freep the MSNBC poll now!

Poll

GravatarInteresting

Kerry Will Win!!!

GravatarWow, watching Tweety (for some masochistic reason) and even THESE twits, even Greenspanloofah, are waking up to the fact that there's a huge tide of new voters coming, and this is big bad news for Shrubbie...

GravatarTrying to concoct a phony Dem "voter outrage"??

What a pathetic pack of fucking losers these Republicans are.

They're ALL stocky kids in baggy jeans and braces, as far as I'm concerned.

GravatarAndrea Mitchell does not understand that it's nor hate, it's hope.

GravatarKerry and THK in Cleveland on Cspan now!

GravatarThersites:

Is Tweety's supernaturally large yellow head wobbling wildly, dangerously unsupported by underdeveloped spine?

Please say "yes."

I can't watch him, myself.

GravatarWhich reminds me - what happened to the legalize-drug-reimportation announcement we were supposed to get this morning?

GravatarJust back from the joint Keever-Bowles rally here in Asheville, and the place was on fire. What was expected to be a fairly muted GOTV drive turned into an exuberant pledge to win across the board.

And damn, Bowles is good on the stump. I just wish his media people had got some of that energy into his TV ads. The candidate is far far better than his campaign portrays him to most of NC. His is the only race that gives me cause for concern tomorrow, and he may need some coattails and turnout, but if he pulls it off, he'll be a fine, fine Senator.

GravatarJust to repeat because this is really important-- Cheney is running a "terror preparedness" drill tomorrow-- that may be an excuse for them to raise the terror alert to code red and screw up the election. Be forewarned.

Here.

GravatarDailykos is down. Anyone know what is going on?

Gravatarq/n(a+b) -- somebody caught a clue, I suppose. Like Bush announcing that he supported civil unions for gays last week -- it's too little, too late, and reeks of desperation besides.

GravatarOT

The documentary "Bush's Brain" is on Sundance channel NOW!

Watch it for further confirmation that we ARE Right and these fuckers are going down tomorrow.

Gravatarso what is the link of source of this debunking?

GravatarJust wanted to say GOOD LUCK to you all down there tomorrow. I'll be listening up here (CBC is covering it) and will have every spare appendage crossed. Go to it. When I wake up on Wednesday, I'm hoping it's to the sound of the smirking chimperor packing his bags to head back to his faux ranch. Fuck Bush and the horse he rode in on. Oh, wait, he's afraid of horses.

GravatarI'm at peace now.......I know I live in a banana republic disguised as a 1st world country

GravatarRemember that Schwarzkopf was part of the Republican cabal accusing Gore and the Dems of disenfranchising military voters in 2000. I wouldn't put it past him to lie.

GravatarThis type of dishonesty is a fitting end to George W. Bush's failed Presidency, a Presidency that unfortunately for the American people, was also defined by deceit and deception

Love it. (not the dishonesty, but the end of it, you know what I mean)

GravatarIs it being reported?

This would be hysterical if it weren't so damned important - If this were a film it's be a farce - a badly scripted, implausible farce.

GravatarJoe Scarborough is an idiot.

I hope his head explodes on TV tomorrow night.

The good news is everyone on the republican side is completely delusional. Coed killer Joe is saying the kids won't turn out. I got news for him, when I voted last week most of the people in line were students. Students are motivated.

GravatarThey're going down. It's only natural to expect them to flail, shriek, and try to pull us down with them.

LANDSLIDE, BABY!

GravatarDon't get cable here. So I was treated to another shining example of our SCLM via CBS. Rather asks Bob Schieffer what to look for tomorrow.

Said something like, 'Well, N.Jersey is traditionally Democratic. If Bush is close there, it points to a long night for Kerry.'

And?...and???...and what signs might point the other way, you halfwit senile prick???

Dan: 'Thanks, Bob.'

GravatarJoe Scumborough just said young voters will be too lazy to vote. Any candidate who depends on the youth vote will regret it, he says, and will wish he'd spent more money on old folks. What a zero.

The Rs are desperate. O'Reilly says they're slackers who won't leave their bongs. I anticipate exhilaration when Kerry-Edwards wins!!!! Kerry in a landslide and the youth vote will make the diff. Your thoughts?

Gravatarso what is the link of source of this debunking?

Gravatar"shake your groove thing, shake your groove thing, yeah, yeah!"

Let's do this my bitches!

GravatarJust looking at the transcript, it'd be hella easy to make that edit.

If you heard it over the phone, you prolly douldn't even tell there -was- an edit.

GravatarWhich reminds me - what happened to the legalize-drug-reimportation announcement we were supposed to get this morning?

GravatarDailykos is down. Anyone know what is going on?

GravatarIs Tweety's supernaturally large yellow head wobbling wildly, dangerously unsupported by underdeveloped spine?

Nah, actually. It looks like it's been attached his shoulders with flying buttresses...

GravatarOh, one more thing. You wanna scream at the media fuckers covering Kerry rallies, 'PAN BACK!! PAN BACK, GODDAMNIT!! YOU'RE MISSING ABOUT A HUNDRED THOUSAND PEOPLE YOU FUCKING MORONS!!!!!

GravatarI fucking HATE Republicans. Last night I posted that once we win we should try and take a conciliatory tone. Fuck it. These cockmongers are lower than low. We should annihilate them.

Gravatar"Any candidate who depends on the youth vote will regret it, he says, and will wish he'd spent more money on old folks. What a zero."

Wow, quite a change from his comments in 2000, when he angrily mocked "old folks" in Florida for not knowing how to work the voting apparatus.

What a sweet guy.

GravatarOT:

Has anyone seen the new Bush ad/video 'Road to Victory' ?

IT'S FUCKING INSANE !

THESE GUYS ARE SMOKING HIGH DOSES OF METHAMPHETAMINE.

http://www.georgewbush.com/

GravatarI'm getting up bright and early tomorrow so I can be at the polls when they open at 7am. It's South Carolina and I know it's going for Bush, but damnit I'm going wide awake and marking that big black arrow next to Kerry's name with enormous satisfaction. I'm sleeping well tonight. I hope you all do too.

Kerry/Edwards in a landslide!

Love to Eschaton.

GravatarAnd I do prefer "my sweet bitches!"

Y'all, this is a done deal. Let's enjoy this eve - and meet up tomorra nite to party!

Plus, I love the term "fucking harridan".

Heh.

GravatarIT's back up now (9:19pm cst)

GravatarMSNBC is 65-35 Kerry at the moment

GravatarIs anyone else having trouble getting to DailyKos? I can't open the site at all. Only that site, too...

GravatarKos works fine here.

GravatarThersites:

Damn, I'm disappointed. I love it when his head wobbles all over the place.

GravatarWhich reminds me - what happened to the legalize-drug-reimportation announcement we were supposed to get this morning?

GravatarDailykos is down. Anyone know what is going on?

Working fine for me.

Gravatarchange is coming , brothers and sisters of Eschaton.

did anyone one else witness the usually ebullient bill schneider on cnn as he remorsely read out polls tracking the continued kerry surge. he absolutely could not contain his sorrow at seeing the hopes of the criminal bush fade away.

mars, bitches, mars.

GravatarIs anyone else having trouble getting to DailyKos? I can't open the site at all. Only that site, too...

GravatarI'd imagine that Kos is getting hammered beyond server capacity.

BartCop forum's been up and down all day. I think people are just scrambling for any new news out there. I know I am.

GravatarYes. Kos seems down. Everywhere I look I now think about the possibility of Karl Rove's involvement. Man this has to end.

GravatarWhen has any incumbent ever been this desperate? Nixon? These folks have clearly given up on any notion that they could win on their record.

GravatarHey, Myrna Minkoff--love your screen name.

Just finished reading "COD" for the second time.

Gravatar~**~

Why John Kerry is My Hero.
During the Vietnam War I was in high school. I watched everyday as more and more of the upper classmates were DRAFTED Something I believe the young people of today have no concept of: What is was like to have NO CHOICE. Most of my young friends had no connections (as Bush so obviously had) and no money (so no college) and no choices, except to go to Canada and be a draft-dodger and ruin your life.

Day after day I watched as many of those very young men NEVER CAME HOME FROM VIETNAM! TENS of THOUSANDS of YOUNG MEN DIED! (Remember for a time the 18 yr olds couldn't even vote, we had to be 21, we changed that law Day after day I worked (volunteering) with those who did come home.

The men who were missing arms and legs, men who were wounded in ways which meant they could never have children, men whose minds were so wounded that one knew they were forever changed and would never be what they could have been.
These men were hardly even out of their teens and most were just 18. As a young woman I equated what was happening with the ruin of my future, too. The men I loved and cherished were never going to be able to blissfully marry and have the American Dream, and some would never have even one year of life in their 20's.

As my mother, sister and I marched against the war, my younger brother enlisted, we were horror struck, but supported him with all our hearts. (And now support his son as his son serves in the Airforce. Bless you Michael. May ^i^'s watch over you. But I will fight to keep my daughter from being drafted.)

Nothing we common folk could do seemed to change anything, again we were dealing with a lying government... WHOSE SONS WERE SAFELY IN COLLEGE OR THE NATIONAL GUARD! (Those were the guys forced to tear gas unruly demonstrators, don't ever forget 4 dead in Ohio, etc...) The horror never struck home to our policy makers, we felt they just saw all these very young men as chess pieces on a board that they had a right to put directly in the line of fire.

John Kerry was a voice out of the darkness, he could testify to the truth in ways that the government could not dismiss as just another good-for-nothing hippie or useless draft-dodger!

He was an educated young man who had volunteered to serve his country honorably, had achieved an Officer standing, had experienced the truth about Vietnam and was NOT AFRAID TO SPEAK THE TRUTH! (Those who have not read his testimony before congress only know 'spin'.)

The testimony John Kerry offered helped the war to end!

If not for him and young men like him-- who knows how many more young men would have died, been mutilated for life (both physically and mentally). Who knows how much longer that war would have gone on.

John Kerry is my Hero today because of his courage beyond his military service. His courage to fight against a corrupt government. His courage to stand-up against horrible odds, and with no thought for his own reputation or

GravatarBen Stein is on MSNBC...what an ass.

GravatarSpringsteen is, indeed, a poet, and reminds us why we so desperately need them. On Cspan Cleveland rally, he moved me to tears of patriotism and gratitude for Kerry. He somehow invoked the trajectory of Kerry's hard-fought life and how it truly represented America and all of us. Of course he did it with a smile and the strum of his guitar behind, as any bone-deep performer does.
God. I needed that. See it if you can.
Tomorrow.
Both Springsteen and Kerry seemed so grown up and natural and, well, powerful. It was REALLY great to see.

GravatarHas dailykos been attacked? It's down and I can't seem to get it.

Anyone have any info please respond.

GravatarWhat liberal media? Tom Shales should be restricted to reviewing Survivor episodes and PBS fund drives.

GravatarIf Kerry wins will they have a live feed of all the pundits jumping out of windows? If it happened you can bet they'd do it.

That's one of the biggest troubles with our system. It's locked in place once the election is held. No chance of a no confidence vote. We'd change governments a lot more often but it's worth it to put out the garbage when it needs to be.

GravatarBen Stein is on MSNBC...what an ass.

And we lend him credence, because . . . ?

Gravatarsorry...
MY HERO cont'

His courage to stand-up against horrible odds, and with no thought for his own reputation or safety, fought the very good fight.

No-one today can honestly say that the Vietnam War was a good war and I don't see one person doing that doing that.

Very few people who had any standing or power stood up against the Vietnam War, while it was going on.

John Kerry did.

Very few people with any standing or power have stood up against the Iraq war.

John Kerry is.

John Kerry is my hero.

He shows a courage that is way-beyond the courage it takes to stand in front of flying bullets.

(Which courage Bush never had.)

I believe John Kerry shows the type of courage that the Founders of our Country showed, the courage to stand up for what is RIGHT regardless of the consequences.

I intend to vote the way the 9-11 WIDOWS are voting (God bless them!) I will vote for John Kerry a man who has been my hero for a lifetime.

Sincerely,
Faith Pau'lele O'Neill

GravatarBen Stein on MSNBC?

I thought that sonuvabitch died years ago.

Wasn't that why he was giving away all his money on that TV show?

GravatarEveryone fucking calm down about Kos. This is the most heavily trafficked night since the rise of blogs. It's just a volume thing.

GravatarWell well, the spirit has certainly swung wildly from the nervous Nellies two days ago to total landslide euphoria now in here.

Now you guys know what it was like to be a Red Sox fan over the past 37 years.

As old and decrepit as I am, I'm definitely going downtown to be paht of the freekin big celebration in Bwahstin tommorah nite.

GravatarSorry to be off-subject, but this is intolerably annoying:

Glenn Reynolds says

http://instapundit.com/archives/...ives/ 018845.php

"This makes me wonder if we'd have recruitment and retention problems under a President Kerry. That would lead to either a humiliating military retrenchment -- especially for a guy who "reported for duty" and made a big deal of his veteran status -- or to pressure to reinstate the draft. Either outcome would be bad. But hey, who knows: Maybe Kerry would win the confidence of the troops before this would matter."

This shit pisses me off so bad. Do NOT buy the "instapundit is a moderate, rational conservative" thing.

GravatarCoed killer Joe is saying the kids won't turn out. I got news for him, when I voted last week most of the people in line were students. Students are motivated.

I got a whiff of that nasty windbag's brain fart, too.

I think he's just letting out the last dying gasp whoring for Chimpy's last day as a "popular war-time preznit".

GravatarLee Atwater's ghost is gonna pay Rove a visit and tell him he's a fuckup, I think.

Rove should be so lucky to die of a brain tumor.

His needs to be a long, wasting disease that addles his mind and leaves him drooling and shitting himself.

Gravatarum, at the risk of being shouted down, how do we -know- it was the RNC who did it...?

GravatarBen Stein is on MSNBC...what an ass.

Does his kind of Republican sewer scraping ever go away? Lord, he's been around forever adding his particular brand of swill to the fire.

GravatarI don't want Rove's mind addled. I want him fully aware of what's happening.

Gravatar..Bob Schieffer ..said something like, 'Well, N.Jersey is traditionally Democratic. If Bush is close there, it points to a long night for Kerry.'

And?...and???...and what signs might point the other way, you halfwit senile prick???

I saw that and choked on my sandwich. Was waiting for him to say that if Virginia or West Virginia go for Kerry, Bush in trouble. Nothing.

Never forget, this decrepit old screwhead tried to single-handedly bail chimpy's ass out at the third debate by tossing out that 'family values' softball of a question at the end. Blatent attempt at damage control. To the duckpit, Bob.

GravatarCoed killer Joe is saying the kids won't turn out.

LOL. Draft, my sweet bitches. And Marshall Mathers. And reality bites.

But hey, who knows: Maybe Kerry would win the confidence of the troops before this would matter.

Ah, yes. Instafuckwit's combat experience with the 101st Flying Keyboarders really qualifies him to make those kinds of judgement calls.

Y'know, I want Kerry to take TN just to see if it provokes the 'professor' into apoplepsy.

GravatarTom Daschle is looking mighty desperate tonight filing a last second federal lawsuit before anyone even goes to vote. WTF? It's alright, he was useless anyways.

Gravatar IT'S FUCKING INSANE !

THESE GUYS ARE SMOKING HIGH DOSES OF METHAMPHETAMINE.

Yup. It's insane alright. It's interesting how Bush says one thing, but does the exact opposite. It's remarkable that people are so stupid they can't see it.

If I could have one wish for tonight, it's that everyone who goes to sleep intending to vote for Bush tries to fuck themselves in their sleep.

GravatarPalmer - thanks for the shout out - this blog (and all good ones!) have dead cool nicks.

Just finishing Confederacy of Dunces for the second time myself. For a bookclub - LOL!

GravatarJessup, I like. No, I love. It's about time. These fucks have usurped the democractic process and it's time to hold them responsible. I think after tomorrow night all lefty blogger need to come up with a plan. The thugs have spent the last 25 years building up their machine. We're fools if we don't start now. We'll win tomorrow but that won't stop them. We may not win in 2008 because Kerry's got his work cut out for him so we've got to be ready with a plan. Atrios, Kos, MyDD, Pandagon, everyone needs to organize. This fight does end tomorrow night. It's not over by a long shot. Think tanks, solid pundits, all of them need to be set in motion. I'm drunk and I'm angry.

GravatarMy prediction, FWIW:

Kerry wins with 57% of the PV and 293 EVs.

Polls open at 6 am in New Jersey, and I'm so there.

GravatarI wish everyone who intends to vote for Bush would have watched that Cleveland rally that just ended, that CSpan showed live.

I'd be willing to bet at least of few of them would have felt their grinchy hearts grow two sizes bigger.

GravatarAnon post at 11:01 was me. Should I start talking to myself about kings and queens of doody-caca? Seems to be an occasional side effect..
-

GravatarGot back a little while ago from the Kerry rally in Detroit. It was wonderful! I sat next to a couple of my parents' generation. He was a WWII vet who wore a Vets for Kerry button. There were boomers like myself, younger adults, teens, kids and even babies.

We shouted out in response to the various Michigan polticos and labor leaders. We shouted out for our hometown guy, Stevie Wonder, who showed up despite a bad cold. He got out one song, then pulled out his harmonica for a kick-ass rendition of America the Beautiful.

But those cheers paled beside those for Kerry when he took the stage. He was warm, he had humor, he was earnest, he was intense. His daughters Vanessa and Alexandra were with him and waved warmly to the crowd. We interrupted him several times with shouts of "Kerry, Kerry," and "One More Day!"

Afterward everyone waited with patience and good humor while the crowd left the Joe, all energized to vote tomorrow and get others out as well.

Kerry in a landslide!

GravatarWe know thge Republicans are liars and cheats, I'm guessing that Schwartzkopf really beileves the bile he spewed so, even if he was hoodwinked by the Repukes, he's still an asshole.

GravatarThe story is still on the AP wire:

Nov 1, 8:19 PM (ET)

By KATHY BARKS HOFFMAN

LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Some Michigan voters have received phone calls falsely claiming that Sen. John Kerry would make gay marriage legal. In New Jersey, some voters have heard a man claiming to be former Army Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf backing the Democrat. Elderly voters in Pennsylvania have been called and told they are ineligible to vote.

Republicans and Democrats were furious Monday about the blatantly false, 11th-hour political calls to voters and demanded an end to the messages.

Schwarzkopf has endorsed President Bush, but in a recording of a phone call played for The Associated Press, a man identifying himself as the Persian Gulf War general says, "In 2000, I voted for George W. Bush, but this year I'm voting for John Kerry. ... John Kerry has a real plan to make our military stronger and to go after terrorists wherever they hide. We need a vote for change, vote for John Kerry."

A voice says the message was paid for by the Democratic National Committee.

In a statement from the Bush campaign, Schwarzkopf said the DNC was making fraudulent phone calls claiming that he had endorsed Kerry, and "nothing could be further from the truth, and I demand that they stop immediately.

The DNC had no immediate reaction.

GravatarDo NOT buy the "instapundit is a moderate, rational conservative" thing.

Um. I never bought that. To me, he's always been a wingnut.

Gravatarjeebs,

Doesn't that assume that they *have* hearts to grow two sizes larger?

GravatarHis needs to be a long, wasting disease that addles his mind and leaves him drooling and shitting himself.

Ooooh, the Reagan Gambit.

Gravatar"Glenn Reynolds"

Now there's a name I'm looking forward to never having to hear or read again.

GravatarBen Stein is on MSNBC...what an ass.

Does his kind of Republican sewer scraping ever go away? Lord, he's been around forever adding his particular brand of swill to the fire.

The Republicans are desperate for celebrity spokespeople. We have Bruce Springsteen, REM, Ben Affleck, Pearl Jam, Alanis Morrisette, and countless other representatives of the cultural and intellectual cream of the crop. They have Ron Silver, Britney Spears, and Toby Keith. Let's give them Ben Stein. They have so little.

GravatarDoremus Jessup-- nice find on the war crimes site! I'll keep it in mind!

GravatarI happened to be listening to Sean Hanity today and he was going on and on about John Kerry faking Norm Schwarzkopf endorsement. I wonder if he would correct his story.

Hey listen:

I dunno if you are a troll or what, but as a lifelong staunch left-wing democrat pacifist tree-hugging
liberal hippy, I respectfully disagree.

Republicans can be extremely cool.
Abraham Lincoln was a Republican.
The problem is that a whole crew
of international pirates needed a party to take over in the USA in order to further their nefarious agenda, and they decided the Republicans would be less difficult to infiltrate.

I don't hate Republicans. I hate the bloodsucking vampires who so carefully and calculatedly hoodwinked and then hijacked the good and decent constituency in the once-proud party of Honest Abe Lincoln.

GravatarLet's give them Ben Stein. They have so little.

I must admit that winning his money was a guilty pleasure.

GravatarKerry/Edwards with 300+ EV's and 55+ on the popular vote. And here's Pierce to explain why.

"It occurred to me over the weekend that I haven't given a good reason why I will vote for John Kerry, and why I would vote for him even if he were running against, say, John McCain. (And even if McCain still had a political soul, which I've come to doubt.) Once, in Iowa, Kerry dropped in on a group of Vietnam veterans. Some of them liked him. Some of them didn't, largely because of the whole VVAW thing. (And, trust me, this was my first beat at the Boston Phoenix, and I discovered that the politics within the various Vietnam veteran's groups were desperate and bloody.) Kerry dismissed the staff, locked the door, blew off the rest of the schedule, and sat there and talked and argued with these guys until they were all exhausted. He wanted to talk to the people who disliked him more than he wanted to talk to anyone else. He gave them the respect of open debate.

Imagine the incumbent doing that. Imagine him sitting down in a room where half the people truly loathe him and everything he stands for, him and his ticket-only rallies, and his coddling staff, and his use of the Secret Service as cheap sidewalk bouncers. Imagine him hearing them out, debating them, giving them the respect of his knowledgeable disagreement. It is inconceivable. One can more easily imagine C-Plus Augustus's flapping his arms and flying to the top of the Washington Monument. Imagine that "character" is even at issue between these two men.

Somebody who was there in Iowa told me that story, and told me I couldn't use it, but that's too damn bad today. I am voting for John Kerry because it is a time for serious people who are strong enough in their heart to listen to anger and slander and calumny and to respond to it, not with the tinny bombast of an unearned office, and not with the cheesy legerdemain of concocted eminence, but with the strength to stay long enough to try to redeem it."

Mars, bitches!

Gravatar
Because he was funny as hell in Ferris Bueller's Day Off

Comedy Central's "Win Ben Stein's Money", when Jimmy Kimmel was the co-host/foil/sidekick/whatever, was pretty damned good, too.

GravatarHelios, no, not a troll, but fed up with the leadership's BS. Abe is twirling in his grave.

You know it's been hijacked. Any party that would suppress minority vote is no friend of Lincoln.

GravatarHey, Marty, did you happen to listen to Sean Hannity today?

GravatarBen Stein is on MSNBC...what an ass.

To be fair, I saw that segment, and I thought Ben Stein was being unusually reasonable for a Republican, and for Ben Stein. He espoused none of the pure, vitriolic, unreasoning hatred toward Kerry that many of his colleagues have shown.

He seemed fairly indifferent about the outcome, just disagreeing with some of Kerry's positions.

He has been a stupendous ass many times before, but at this particular instance I thought he was okay. Wrong, but okay.

GravatarVoting tomorrow at six. May get off metro at Farragut Square, go by WH and yell "Geeeeeet Ouuuuuut" and then walk rest of way to work. I know the Pretender's in Crawford, but it'll just feel good.

GravatarSOURCE?!?!?!? LINK?!?!?!?

Help us out here. Much as I respect Atrios, no one who isn't already on our side is going to accept an unsourced blog copy-and-paste.

GravatarScharwzkopf a liar.

GravatarBen Stein WAS funny in Ferris Bueller' Day Off.

The way he Said "Bueller?, Bueller, Bueller?" was an absolute classic.

I also really liked Charlton Heston in "Boling for Columbine" - he played a boozy, self-indulgent gun-totin' racist likle he was born to the role.

And don't get me started on how well Ahnold plays a dumb, violent, drug-cheating repressed-homosexual mysoginst! Boy-o-boy, that's Oscar gold right there!

GravatarVoting tomorrow at six. May get off metro at Farragut Square, go by WH and yell "Geeeeeet Ouuuuuut" and then walk rest of way to work.

GravatarTo finish.

Hecate, you have been such an excellent voice here.

Let's toast tomorrow night to new friends and better days.

GravatarI saw that segment, and I thought Ben Stein was being unusually reasonable for a Republican, and for Ben Stein.

He did look reasonable, and the last time I saw him he looked frothing.

Mene, mene!

GravatarI would have the advantage of having election results pour in during my day rather than having to stay up late... but I don't think this one will take long for the pundits to call and not bother to reverse.

Time for Trudeau to roll out the old Nixon strips with the wall around the White House being torn down. Time for all of the web pages hidden and policy meeting minutes hidden from us to come to light.

And the InstaParrot is just another neo-Bircher. He'll be shilling for the Constitution Party in two years, cuz the Republicans will be finished with him and the Free Republic of Little Green Raelians after they lose the Presidency, the Senate, and the House!

GravatarI don't hate Republicans. I hate the bloodsucking vampires who so carefully and calculatedly hoodwinked and then hijacked the good and decent constituency in the once-proud party of Honest Abe Lincoln.

It's too bad the paleos haven't staged some sort of a comeback - maybe after the election.

In a related note, Bob Barr has recently joined the Free Republic and is trying desparately to talk some sense into them. It doesn't seem to be working.

GravatarLove how confident Cabrera sounded. None of this, well, I'm not sure what to make of this, but...

Nah, Jano comes out, guns blazing, putting that desperate and pathetic ammo right up front. Good PR person. Very good PR person.

GravatarIf Eschaton goes down, or becomes unusable due to heavy traffic tomorrow night, do you think we should have a plan? Like try to disperse to the blogs of some of the regulars here?

GravatarThis reminds me of the movie "Fight Club" where the main character punches himself out to get back at the boss. Someone should have told the Republicans that this kind of thing never ever works out in reality

GravatarI had heard at one point that Schwartzkopf was not endorsing Bush. Not endorsing Kerry either, but nonetheless not endorsing Bush.

Still true, I wonder?

Gravatarpixie,

KERRY/EDWARDS IN A LANDSLIDE!!!

Coercion into the military. Bad eggs. Bad morale. I was a draftee and remember being held up by some inner-city hoods who didn't want to be in olive drab -- not once, but twice.

Stick the draft where the sun don't shine.

GravatarKarin- you're welcome to use my bandwidth to comment on the election tomorrow, but I'd rather you use my bandwidth via bittorrent after going to this silt transcript to pick up the torrents for the first two parts of a documentary called "The power of nightmares" showing in the UK. (As noted yesterday at Digby's.)

GravatarThe RNC message opens with "Hello." The DNC message opens with "Hi."

Is the DNC shitting us?

GravatarWell, caller id should settlr this, right?

GravatarMy Ben Stein story: a friend's brother-in-law appeared on "Win Ben Stein's Money." He mopped the floor up with Ben. Ben was more than a little pissed. My friend's brother-in-law has a Polish name, and Ben made sure to make some lame Polack joke before my friend's brother-in-law got off the air (with Ben Stein's money).

GravatarJason in Amishville, beautiful post, thanks (10:51).

Re: Decent Republicans, I agree you can't be so ridiculously black-and-white on 'em. Just one thing, though. Don't anybody let a conservative acquaintance trot out the Lincoln stuff, without reminding them that it only took 'em ELEVEN years after he died to sell out, in order to win in '76.

Oh, and don't let 'em go w/o reminding 'em that Lincoln rocked 'cause he was a liberal.

GravatarBTW, AP has the dirt, but manages to bury it way past all the brownshirt pissing and moaning:

DNC spokesman Jano Cabrera said Republicans spliced an ad by Gen. Merrill McPeak, a Kerry supporter, to make it sound as if Schwarzkopf was speaking so they could accuse Democrats of dirty tricks. Republicans denied being involved.

GravatarI wondering if the Republican voters in Michigan who reported these calls simply misheard the call. It's not like hard-core wingers are known for critical listening skills.

GravatarThe right wing bloggers all think this Schwarzkopf thing is the gospel truth. Morons.

GravatarThis type of dishonesty is a fitting end to George W. Bush's failed Presidency, a Presidency that unfortunately for the American people, was also defined by deceit and deception

I love it. Why couldn't we have seen these types of responses sooner? So sad that the demos were afraid to be this honest til election eve.

GravatarJust when you think the G.O.P. can stoop no lower, they always manage to do so. But, man, they really are scraping very near the bottom of the barrel now. One might almost be tempted to pity them, but alas, no.

Gravatar"Lee Atwater's ghost is gonna pay Rove a visit and tell him he's a fuckup, I think."
stranger

Me, too. I've been waiting years already for Atwater to pay a Marley's Ghost call on Segretti's little buttboy. Won't be long, now.

GravatarMan, that is beyond sleazy, but I wouldn't necessarily pin it on the RNC. There are a lot of "enlightened" neocon "activists" out there who would take it on themselves to do a bit of freelance ratfucking.

GravatarSolved in what sense? Kos is just citing Atrios. Right now, there's only the one article from the Bend that I can find. Atrios didn't cite anything.

GravatarAh, read more closely. I see now.

GravatarDid Kerry wave to Stevie Wonder?

GravatarI never heard the original story that they were saying we made up a false call for Schwartzkopf. Where is that?

Does it have something to do with the forged CBS memoes?

GravatarA picture is worth a thousand words:

GravatarThis should settle it.

General Schwarzkopf's statement:

TAMPA, FL – Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf today issued the following statement:

"The Democratic National Committee is making fraudulent phone calls claiming that I have endorsed Senator Kerry. Nothing could be further from the truth, and I demand that they stop immediately.

"Senator Kerry opposed the Reagan defense build-up that won the Cold War. Senator Kerry opposed the removal of Saddam Hussein from Kuwait. Senator Kerry proposed billions in intelligence cuts after the first attack on the World Trade Center. Senator Kerry voted against funds to equip our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan with supplies like body armor and ammunition.

"I am supporting President Bush for reelection, because he is the candidate who has demonstrated the conviction needed to defeat terrorism. In contrast to the President's steadfast determination to defeat our enemies, Senator Kerry has a record of weakness that gives me no confidence in his ability to fight and win the War on Terror. His attempt to make up for these deficiencies by falsifying my endorsement only confirms my impression that he is not the man we need to lead our nation."

Are you folks calling General Schwarzkopf a liar?

GravatarIf you listen to both of the tapes, you'll see that it was pretty clearly an unfortunate misunderstanding. Basically, somebody got a version of the McPeak endorsement on an answering machine with the first 6 seconds cut off. This caused it to begin with "...Powell and Norm Schwarzkopf", which sounds an awful lot like "Hello, I'm Norm Schwarzkopf". The rest of the tape is the same.

GravatarThis morning NPR ran the Stormin' Norman story at 5 A.M. OK, ran ONLY the half about how Democrats were obviously trying to scam Republicans by running a message that Norman was voting for Kerry. That's it. Fuck NPR and their self-appointed new King of All Media Juan Williams. They officially blow.

GravatarI suppose that most of us assume the fake S'kopf phone calls are one of Karl Rove's little pranks to cast the Dems in a bad light. I wonder whether S'kopf is in on it or whether he really thinks the Dems are doing the phoning.

Gravatarkitty> This should settle it.
> ... (RNC kool-aid) ...
> Are you folks calling General Schwarzkopf a liar?

This should settle what?
Only Schwarzkopf knows whether he believes these big boldface BananaRepublican lies.
So I am not sure if he is a liar but I am sure he is wrong.

GravatarWhen Der Fuhrer says "God put me in this place"
We'll heil, heil, right in Der Fuhrer's face.

Bush as Der Fuhrer
This nation does disgrace
So we'll heil, heil, right in Der Fuhrer's face!

GravatarRE: three earlier posts...

JEFF: Instapundit = not worth your sweat. Not even as interesting as your average Freeper, and not nearly well-written enough to fool anyone into believing it's the voice of Republican reasonableness. Borrrring!

DOREMUS JESSUP: Amen. Can you or anyone link me to War Crimes Tribunal death penalty specs? Do they still hang you, a la Nuremberg, or is firing squad the standard of punishment?

Won't happen, but could you just imagine Bushie and/or Cheney?

You just know they'd run around the courtyard flailing and screaming, like the Ceaucescus did before the Romanian army put slugs through their foreheads (remember those front-page photos from Christmas Day 1988? Not terribly glamorous...)

WATERTIGER: Lee Atwater didn't die of a brain tumor...yet more GOP spin. HIV-related is more like it.

OK, off to vote...

GravatarBen Stein

Give him this: I saw him on CBS' Sunday Morning bemoaning the various monetary hardships visited on our troops during the Iraq invasion. (Serving in Iraq doesn't mean "combat pay", privatized Halliburton employees there doing the same things soldiers used to do but for 4x the pay, cuts in VA funding, and salary levels that allow full-timer service folk in some places to qualify for food stamps.)

Karl Rove didn't tell Stein to do this, and Toby Keith didn't follow along.

Those are all arguments which Democrats and moderates have made, and precious few R's leadership have been held to the fire. The comparison with BushCo's willingness to attach themselves visually to all things military, while pretending these issues don't exist, is obvious.

Ben Stein gets this. The man is smart. And he doesn't exude the fashionable "Republican vitriol".

The kicker is, he has blind spots that blot out half the Western sky. These were all on display for his video essay this Sunday about voting for Bush. (His Kerry-voting counterpart, whose name I forget, wiped him up, although these were taped seperately.)

Gravatarthis was reported on npr this morning, about 30 minutes ago, as dem fraud.

Gravatar"Yup, me and my wife, we done lost our jobs to folks over thar in India...I knowed it was one of them thar countries overseas. We don't have no health insurance now.

We're livin' in a homeless shelter 'cause we done lost our house.

Our only son, he got killed over there in Iraq last month, but we're still gonna vote for Bush 'cause he's a good Christian and he ain't gonna let them thar women kill their babies or allow them thar queers to git married.

Yup, we're homeless and livin' on food stamps but we'll still be gonna allowed to read the bible and keep our guns because of Bush.

Praise the lord!"

GravatarDidn't stop Rush from talking about it for an hour this morning, as if Schwartzkopf was gonna sue the DNC.

Lies. All lies.
