Did anyone notice that Zogby has Bush winning the popular vote 49.4 to Kerry's 49.?
I think it is obvious that every single pollster is going to be completely wrong in this election and then they will make some bs amends about how they could not predict such high turnout.
Here's my prediction, Kerry wins tonight, tomorrow there will be the first Kerry Admn scandal. Probably some Drudge number about how Kerry told Bush to f*ck himself during their phone call.

NEW DELHI (Reuters) - Surveys in the United States may be showing the race for president as too close to call but top Indian astrologers say the planets have clearly made up their mind: John Kerry will win.
Planets governing President Bush are eclipsed and in an uncomfortable position, making his tenure controversial and his re-election bid unsuccessful, the soothsayers said on Friday, four days before the vote.
On the other hand, the planets of Democratic challenger Senator John Kerry were in the ascendant, ensuring him success in competitions.
"Saturn, which is the lord of health and fortune for President Bush, has been eclipsed by the Sun, which is unfortunate and gives him a clear defeat," Lachhman Das Madan, editor of a popular astrology magazine, told Reuters.
"Kerry will win," said Madan, who is also known as "the emperor of astrologers." "It is cosmic writ that George W. Bush cannot become president of United States again."

In all fairness, though, we'd be trashing the validity of exit polls if Zogby had Shrub with 311 EVs.
That being said, it's nice to see even a few moments of the neo-cons fretting over their chances. After 2002 they pretty much thought they could do anything...and they did.

With so many blogs going down and becoming unavailable, I see the need for coordination amongst blogs in the next likely heavy-use day.
For example, Atrios could arrange for readers to check his friends at First Draft in case Eschaton goes down.
Josh could arrange in advance for his readers to go to, I don't know, some smaller, underused blog that he relates to.
And so on.
Just a thought for future discussion.

POLLS ARE MEANINGLESS
I don't care what the poll says, even if it says we're winning.
There is still time to go out and visit neighbors, drive them to the polls, talk them into voting for democracy instead of fascism.
Do not relent. Drive them into the sea. Kick them in the balls. Hit them with all the fucking furniture in the house. Crush them utterly, and make the Republicans understand, once and for all, that we will not tolerate fascism or theocracy in this country.

Most people don't realize it, but if the vote goes to a tie, and the Supreme Court is tied (due to sick Rehnquist), the decision is made by a guy working in D.C.'s Federal Triangle Metro station named Ed.

Yup. The wife works over at 30 Rock. She has been telling me, for days, how wild looking it is.

I don't understand why Zogby is calling the popular vote for Bush, especially with at spread. It seems counterintuitive to say the least. Can anyone explain this thinking to me?
awab
He is calling it because the president is a MORON and any IDIOT can see it -- its a shame we even have to go through this charade. It would have been "neater" to have simply impeached the bastard!

Then perhaps I'm reading it wrong,
yup.
what does "Zogby International Finds: Bush at 49.4%, Kerry at 49.1%" mean?
I don't know, but it certainly doesn't mean that Zogby is calling the popular vote for bush. Check out the MOE for the poll.
You could say that Zogby is predicting the election in Kerry's favor, because of the electoral vote margin that he predicts for Kerry. However, with a .3% difference on a poll with a 3.5% MOE, I would not say that he is calling the popular vote for Chimpy.

Proof that the freepers have gone mad:
A message to them from Jonah Goldberg:
NOT TO BE INDELICATE... [Jonah Goldberg]
but some of you angrier readers can kiss my Michael Moore if you know what I mean.
I know everyone's edgy. I know this is a tense time. The election's a big deal, blah, blah, blah. But none of it justifies some of the idiotic and nasty nonsense (a tiny minority of) you folks are hurling at me and/or us.
A few points directed solely at those people who need to hear it:
1. The exit numbers I posted were posted in order for me to debunk them. The Wonkette numbers are false. Or they are at least not exit poll numbers from today. It is possible, from what two sources tell me, that they are tallies of the early voting -- conducted by the Democrats. That's plausible.
2. On the posting of exit polls in general (an issue which NRO has been central to for five years), we do not have a monopoly over their publication. It's not like if we choose not to do it, that a dozen other sites won't go right ahead and do it anyway.
3. I have never been convinced that learning your guy is losing in a very tight race translates into lower turnout. It's entirely possible and in my mind probable that it gins up the bace to redouble its efforts. Moreover, the entire universe is not reading NRO and deciding to judge based upon our reports on exit polls.
I am making these points in order to rebut the deluge of angry, pissy emails I'm getting from people who make it sound like we're collaborating with the Nazis when we're simply doing our job. My apologies for wasting everyone else's time.
They are all mad I tell ya, all mad!

SC polls close in less than 40 minutes. I don't expect returns immediately due to heavy voter turnout, many people will still be in line when the polls close and will continue to vote. My 45 minute wait was half of the length most people I talked to waited today. Few serious problems reported other than short delays. There was a report of a challenger at a predominately black polling location that was asked to leave.

CNN International just reported that Kerry is preparing to go to some place (didn't catch where) in an hour or hour and a half, where he hopes to gives his.....
BBC News 24 interviewed a Kerry foriegn policy advisor about 5 hours ago in what I think was Philadelphia (could be off on that). Jon Bon Jovi and Joni Mitchell are playing in front of an estimated 10,000 people I think the lady said, but it wasn't clear if that's where Kerry would be later too. It might be though.
And I'll be watching the BBC for the rest of the morning. Just think... 3 months of seeing Bush, being instantly revolted... but then reminding myself "That asshole isn't President anymore", and then bursting into song. It's going to be wonderful. Democracy, Bitches!

In all fairness, though, we'd be trashing the validity of exit polls if Zogby had Shrub with 311 EVs.
Zogby is using non-exit polls from yesterday through today, isn't he? So the (true) unreliability of early exits is irrelevant to the evaluation of the reliability of the Zogby results.

The fundi church down the street has on its billboard "pray for the election and vote your values", and ivotemyvalues.org. I think I'll call them tomorrow and say I did.
Also its snowing and cold here in Lubbock TX. I voted last week. A man saw the long line and said to his wife, "I don't like the idea of all these people voting".

Preznit Bush and his Band of Scheisskopfs had the arrogance to say to the whole world, in the immortal words of Dick-the-Scheisskopf-in-Chief: "Go Fuck Yourself." It would appear that those of us who believe that America belongs to a greater international community have returned the favor.

I have to share this.
My 20 year old son initially didn't feel very motivated to vote, using that old line, "Doesn't matter, my vote doesn't count, etc."
For the last few weeks (after deluging him with tons of stuff, mostly about the draft), he has slowly come around to admit this election is important.
But, he's kind of geeky and I never know if he'll actually do something, like go to vote. (He's voting where he goes to school.)
So, I just clicked on AIM to check if he was online. If he was, of course I'd see if he voted or nag him to death if he didn't. (Polls are open until 9pm here.) Well, he wasn't online, but his away message said: VOTING!
Damn, I'm proud of him!
It's possibly because I sent him the info that 2nd of the list of call-ups would be for linguists & computer science people (that's his double major), while my daughter is in first place as a med. student.
O JOHN-JOHN, YOU JUST HAVE TO WIN!

I am fuming. Just announced on NBC. Those repugs got a daddy Bush appointed judge to issue and injunction in Philadelphia that prohbits the counting of absentee ballots until 9AM tomorrow, because the election officials supposedly didn't give them a list so they could challenge them at the poles. This smells of their usual tactics. They are determined to steal this thing.
